Rit, I'm a believer! I had a brand new white puffer jacket (bagged) and sitting in my car when my toddler decided to pull it out and dump red kool-aid all over it. I of course didn't notice until we had arrived home and it was entirely saturated with kool-aid and dyed pink. I had intended to return this puffer ($80) for a smaller size but now was facing needing to throw it in the trash can due to it being ruined. Insert tears... As soon as I got home, I laundered the puffer on cold to see how much I could remove from a normal wash cycle. The answer: not much. I refused to dry the jacket, and put it in a sink to soak with oxiclean and some bleach where I scrubbed and soaked it for 2 days. Very little to no improvement. I was 2 minutes away from throwing it in the trash can before my M-I-L came over and said that I should try a color remover, like Rit. I told her there was no way it could pull the stain, but proceeded to search amazon and came upon a lovely video of a lady boiling her garments and turning them white again. For $7 it was worth a shot. Amazon overnighter this product and I followed the instructions and boiled water over the stove, adding the Rit solution and garment into the pot and stirring for about 20 minutes. After 5-10 minutes I could see the stains were lightening and by 20 minutes. Voila. Gone and absolutely zero signs that a stain ever was there. Like magic! I'm so thrilled. Will definitely be keeping a Rit stash on hand from here on out. Thanks so much for those who posted reviews and for the lady with the video that gave me hope that I could remove my garment stain as well.

Washed a brand-spankin'-new red blouse, and it got mixed in with the 'regular laundry' accidentally. I *usually* wash new clothes (reds especially) by themselves or with like colors, but I'd grown lazy and lulled into a false sense of security over the past couple of decades by some *remarkably* colorfast red clothing, and thus I wasn't as careful as I should have been. Well, you can guess what happened, and my two white blouses came out of the wash a pale shade of rose. Quite pretty, actually, and the excess dye from the red blouse had deposited perfectly evenly. Impressive when you think about it actually. One shirt was 100% polyester, and the other 100% cotton. They came out nearly the same shade. If you've ever dyed fabrics, you know how difficult that is to achieve on purpose. Figures it'd happen accidentally. The transferred dye was incredibly stubborn. It survived Carbona Color Run Color Remover, Oxyclean, and even bleach. If only the red had been so attached to it's original garment! Had to order the Rit Dye Remover on Amazon, because I live in a podunk nowhere town that has the most ridiculously limited selection of products. (If only I could write reviews of places I've lived... 0/10 would not recommend) Rit had been my first choice, but due to lack of availability, it became my last resort. I ended up using both boxes after being *not quite* satisfied with the brightness of my white blouses following the first treatment. (I gave them the old college try, I really did. They were white, but there was still just the tiniest hint of pink. Probably nobody would have noticed but me, but *I* knew and it was annoying me) After the second round you could use the shirts to signal passing aircraft in the event of being lost while hiking and needing to flag down your rescuers. They looked *better* than new. Don't bother with other dye removers. Just get Rit.

I put 1 package of the RIT in pot hot water on the stove. I made sure it was at 200 degrees. I dipped a bit of test cotton fabric in.. and within 1 second the color was coming out. It turned the brown into a icky yellow/orange. It would not have taken long to get everything out I am sure. This is made to take color out... so any and all color will come on of cotton fabric. I had some other fabric that this did nothing for. It must be some type of synthetic. I even cooked it for 40 minutes will next to nothing happening It does stink really bad ha ha

I only wish I could supply before and after pictures, dang it! You would be shocked. I had 2 items that needed correcting: one was a white flannel sheet (with a printed design) and one was a white t shirt with a design on it, and a different color fabric collar and sleeve trim. The sheet has some bleed from a tie dye shirt I slept in that apparently wasn't washed enough. The bleed wasn't too bad but you could see it since the background of the sheets are white. But holy cow, the t shirt was accidentally washed with a large piece of burgundy fabric that had never been washed, and bled like it was soaked full of dye. My white shirt turned like, medium pink. Not even light pink. A very strong pink. I thought it was ruined for sure. I thought I'd try this but figured since the bleed was so bad, it'd probably just lighten it. For one queen sheet and one t shirt I used two packages. I was skeptical but shocked when I looked in the washer: ALL color had been removed!!!! I was stunned! I really regretted not taking a before and after pic. But IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The collar/sleeve trim on the shirt actually went from a medium royal blue to brown. So weird! Luckily on this shirt, it actually works. But that's something people should be aware of. The printing on the sheet and shirt were not affected at all. Also note, I have a pair of "cold water wash only" pants I also wanted to treat but will not be able to, as this requires a hot water cycle. So if your garments meet the criteria, this stuff is amazing and it does work!

This product didn’t work on my white item,and didn’t remove all the colored spots.the major issue is the strong chemical smell that lingers in the fabric even after multiple washes. And had to throw the bucket that I used for the strong smell even after soaking it in Clorox multiple times.I definitely do not recommend

Here is what it all boils down to: depending on the type of fabric and the type of dye, it will either work surprisingly well or completely destroy...or do nothing. ALWAYS do a test patch...but there's an except to that rule. I used the stove top method. My findings: -Works great for white cotton T-shirts and most white cotton. Got a red stain out of a new white band T-shirt and red color bleed on a white cotton towel. -For two years, I had two cotton garments that had a blue bleed (wear a lot of jeans). They'd been washed and dried and the color bleed was likely hard set. This made them white again after 2 years of blue. Could see the design again. This was a wow factor. -Problematic factor: two cotton garments, both with color, had different results. One was white with green dye, which did not change in color or bleed; white was restored. One was white with blue dye, and the blue dye was changed an awful brown. Same fabric, so be careful with dyes. Not all dyes are equal. -Here's the exception: I tossed in a white cotton garment that had blue color bleed. It immediately turned a SALMON PINK. However, I stuck with the instructions, and after the 20 minutes on the stove, it turned cream color. After a second treatment with an additional packet, it finally turned white. So those of you getting the salmon pink/orange might try another one or two treatments. If that fails, toss it. It's lost. -It had no effect on one garment that wasn't cotton. Still blue. -Ruined two Victoria's Secret bras, but this is likely because of the different fabric types, cheap dye, and cheap plastic. One was white with blue and purple (got blue bleed)-->it's now just yellow even after 3 treatments (but it was yellow after the first). Another was white with blue (white got blued)--it's now light yellow with blue after 3 treatments. -Another garment, it restored the white patches, but removed the red dye from the fabric behind it so it went from stark red to a light red starting to become pink. Be careful with colors. Might be better to dab any white areas and then wash, but not sure. -Smell is toxic, definitely ventilate. But it's not unbearable. IT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE. I got a drop on my eyelid and then read the package. If you're clumsy or accident prone, just wear safety goggles for sure.

Works to remove color fast

I accidentally washed my new joggers with a black cotton dress, and the dye bled all over them. I first tried washing them with baking soda and vinegar, but it didn’t fix the issue. I made sure not to put them in the dryer and instead ordered a dye remover—one package per pair. Both pairs had that muddy grey staining, and the product completely removed it. One pair came out perfectly and looks like new again. The other pair lost some of its original vibrant pink and is now a softer, pale pink—but still totally wearable. Overall, I’m really happy with the result because both pairs were basically ruined before, and now I can wear them again.

Believe me, this product is really good&it worked.. I used a (rit color remover) to remove stain of dye from my white gown... Now my dress is completely white again.. As before

Worked perfectly to strip back heavy cotton cargo shorts from khaki, they ended up a very consistent light beige and after dyed navy blue. I did ask AI for the best method, I did them in a big pan on the stove rather than the method advised on the packaging but that’s not to say following the instructions would have worked just as well.

It took about half of the colour out that had run into a cotton sheet. I did everything it stated to do and I used the washing machine. So it's quite good it just doesn't work miracles
