Blown away. *The* most singular deck I’ve ever seen—and as a collector, I’ve seen plenty.
I’ve had the Black Tarot by Victoria Iva in my wish list for a *very* long time. I can’t tell the date when this deck was birthed. The artwork and premise are sooooo compelling, yet I’ve shied away from purchasing it because, based on the images I could find online, I thought this deck would be too advanced for me to read. Even after reading and studying tarot off and on for thirty years, I still consider myself an intermediate reader. After a series of interesting events in my life and long talks with my son, I let myself give in to buying this deck. (I’m careful about optional purchases because I live on disability social security.) I am so thrilled to be so wrong about this deck. It is so incredibly intuitive. It is as if the images spark open a portal in my mind. The art is delectable; the imagery profound. I don’t think this deck has any cards that I don’t like. The back design is perfect. The artwork is innovative, mesmerizing, and so very individual, but in a way, also classic—you can tell RWS has subtle influence here. After my initial review of the cards, I didn’t even bother with my dumb question of “Are you my reading deck?” Duh. The cardstock is solid but not too thick; it’s smooth, buttery, and easy to handle, even with my small hands. I don’t riffle shuffle anymore because of arthritis in my hands, I want to keep my cards in good shape, and—selfishly, maybe—I don’t want anyone else touching my working decks anymore. (Yes, I suppose that makes me weird.) You know the acronym RTFM (i.e., read the f****** manual)? For once, I did. I am notorious for bypassing any manual and diving in headfirst. However, I find I’m following an instruction from the book—I have a journal (on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CSSXQ78T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 on which I am going to dedicate a page to each card, along with further tarot musings. By doing so, I am confident I’ll boost my tarot reading, knowledge, and intuition to the next level, and I can’t wait for that to happen! Wow. Fewer than 48 hours have passed, I have learned much even through such a superficial review, and I *know* this is my personal reading deck. When I read for others, I usually use the “Radiant Wise Spirit” tarot, or the Wild Unknown tarot. (If I’m reading for a cat-loving querent, I use the Medieval Cat Tarot.) The Black Tarot is for me alone (for now, anyway). I have an incredible relationship with the Wild Unknown tarot, but it’s as if the Black Tarot and I are magnetized to each other. No doubts. No hesitation. When a deck hits you like this, you need each other. Buy it.

the most beautiful tarot deck ever!!!
okay so i literally neverrrr write reviews to start off, but this deck is literally SOOO EVERYTHING. it feels high quality, heavy, the cards are nice and thick, still easy to shuffle. LOVEEEEE the artwork. the artwork for each card is insanely beautiful but also the symbolism and just overall feel/vibe is insane!! makes me look at specific cards so differently and it’s just gorgeous. like probably one of the most beautiful decks that i’ve ever seen. i’m still a baby tarot reader but these are still pretty easy to understand if you’re still learning plus it comes with the book!! also for the price, not bad at aaaaall. i would so buy this as a gift for any of my witchy friends. incredibly beautiful like i just can’t get over it.

Love these cards!!!
I love these cards. Classic: swords, wands, cups, and spheres (pentacles). Easy to read, nice box for them, book of explanations (I havent read it), pretty artwork, and black/sheik coloring.

BEAUTIFUL but some cards are too dark
I loved it. It has good feel. The prints are good but the illustrations are the BEST. The only thing I can criticize is the darkness of some of the cards. In photos and videos I've seen on internet they're not too dark like in reality. If you want to do Tarot only with candles as the only light you won't be able to see which some of the cards are.

Incredible craftsmanship and meaning in this deck
I normally don’t do reviews but this one is a must. I’ve been eyeing this deck for awhile despite the fact it may look “really dark” I bought it saged and meditated over it. I red the guidebook in detail, then I did exactly what the guidebook asked me: go through each card get a feeling of it and write down what you think or feel from each card. And I also read out loud each meaning while holding each card up right and reversed. The care and interpretation of each card is incredible and inspiring. Do not be fooled by the imagery thinking it’s “dark” or “disturbing” it’s quite the opposite and very beautiful . Each card has a in depth description and meaning. Surprisingly my least favorite cards in a traditional deck are my favorite ones here. Shadow work deck for sure. Deck is sturdy and cards slide with ease, great feel for them & good size. I posted my favorite cards I don’t want to give too much away but I also posted a video of me shuffling. I use this deck with the wild unknown they both seem to work well together. The artwork is incredible & it’s easy to understand. Definitely recommend getting used to a traditional deck first so you can see the awesome contrast between meanings of each deck. A ten of pentacles review from me

I love this deck. The art is amazing. If you read tarot rider-waite style, the images are still recognizable. If you read with other methods, intuition or using folk cartomancy (like with playing cards) for example, the images are abstract enough to make your own interpretations. The cardstock is quite thick, which personally doesn't make it so easy to shuffle, but on the other hand it will probably make the cards more durable.

This arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I enjoy this unique, original art, it is very interesting and expressive. The artwork may be seen as a little bit on the dark side without being terribly scarey. I have only had time to briefly look through the guide book, but it appears to do a pretty good job of connecting the images with tarot meanings with writing that is clear and concise. The cards are nice quality, they are quite flexible, typical tarot size, matt finish and edged in black. The only concerns I've had is that in time, I wonder if this particular matt finish may allow some of the images to wear off (or appear scratched) in some places with time and use, and that I sometimes wish the cards would slide a bit more freely. I recommend this tarot for readers and collectors who are already familiar with tarot and are looking for something different - with a bit of darkness.... I am very happy to have it in my collection, it will be particularly nice for the Hallowe'en season.
