Wilton Tradesman XC Bench Vise, 4-1/2" Jaw Width, 3-1/2" Max Jaw Opening, 3-1/4" Throat (1745XC)

Appears fine quality, not sure if price is appropriate.

I purchased a lower cost Wilton vise, and just wan’t happy with it. I decided to upgrade to this unit, and it’s a big improvement. Yes, it’s allot of money for a vise, but depending on what your needs are, it’s worth it. The vise came well packaged, and secured to a wood base. Fit and finish are very good, the movement is smooth, and I like the dark color.

My original vise was stolen off the back of my truck so I replaced it with a like for like with this one. I could tell immediately that something was off with the new one. It was a different color and weight off the old one and the teeth were definitely softer. I feel like my one was made using Detroit steel and this new one was built using chinesium. After the first rain it began rusting immediately and I have to grease and oil it every month whereas the other one maybe annually? Not impressed and the price sure doesn’t reflect the quality.

I bought this vice to replace a Wilton machinists vice that was similar in size. The finish on this is great and it is built extremely well.

Pice of junk. Check heuer or orange vise

Great product.

Its ability to clamp to secure metal pieces for fabrication is incomparable to any other vise on the market today period. Everything else is obselete.
