So much Warhammer in one box!
This is the single best investment for anyone looking to get into 40k. It includes the core book, which you need if you're going to play any 40k beyond the most basic garage level, as well as some supplemental rules for all your cool new units, and a scenario book with the Indomitus background story. It includes a whole bunch of Space Marine models. These are the new, bigger, very elegant and detailed Primaris models, which are very cool and fun to paint. The theme of this squad is like...holy transhuman gothic murder-paladin melee lords. They're sick. There are some beautiful models here, including dudes on bikes and sick Baroque melee warriors with power swords. It also includes a metric crud-load of new Necron models. The theme of these guys is essentially hateful undead space terminators (the Schwarzenegger kind, not the Space Hulk kind) with face-melting future weapons. I love these because they're easy to assemble, and can be as simple and easy, or as detailed and fiddly, to paint as you would like. There's a lot of variety in these models, and like the Space Marines, they're new and really high quality. FYI this box may seem a bit expensive, but it's a great value with gobs of good stuff that would be substantially more if purchased separately. Best of all, once you open this up, skim the rules and build your models, you and a friend can play immediately, which is sweet.

First Time
This is my first big buy from any Warhammer facet. GW always gives the best deals in the largest amounts. I knew I wanted all these models eventually so I saved myself the cash and bought it now. Definitely worth every penny. I know many people hate on the Primaris Marine but I love their models. The proportions are good. I added a bit more of a waist to my guys. But that’s it. They’re sleek and perfect. Only hiccup. Unlike past sets, you really need to read the directions on this one, it really matters what pieces go in what order. Great quality pour, barely any mold lines, sadly XD because I find trimming and building them very calming. I haven’t gotten to painting them up yet I wanna warm up my art skills that I haven’t used in a while. I’m planning on painting a lot of these marines like each legion so I have one of every kind. I think that’s be a cool idea for display. As well as with the rest I’m planning on making my own Legion, and yes I mean Legion. Im gonna make a primarch too. I’m fleshing out the lore as we speak and yeah. 10/10

Great value for newbies
GW really needs to sell this as default, so new players should get this as their first kit, in my opinion. I picked up the recruit set, and was starting to build off this, but the major difference between this and the $165 command set is the command set has some terrain (nice) but less units, this has more units for about half the cost of buying retail or more. You have about 1700 points of units or so for $230, where 130 points for the Skorpeth Destroyers + Plasmacyte is about $50 retail. You can buy this online for $90 separately, or find someone else selling terrain, somewhere else. I should have got this to start with and skipped the Recruit set. I did have one piece from the space marines fall off a sprue, a glove, but that's likely just due to shipping. No other damage. A bit confused there are no dice or rulers like the recruit edition has but GW says "We actually packed it so full that we couldn’t fit any dice or tape measures inside – but we know you already have some." to which I highly disagree with, there was plenty of space to fit dice or rulers. Granted, no, you don't need GW's dice or rulers, but it would have been a nice thing to have, especially for a newbie, and especially for this price. As this is my first time buying any GW items, and my first time holding a Core Rulebook, it's a nice book....but about 60% of the Core Rulebook is just lore, lore that should be free somewhere as a PDF, but, it's not. Why do I have this heavy bound book where most of it is just fluff that anyone who gives a hoot will pretty much have memorized? No one's going to say "well lets refer to the lorebook for, wait, sorry, the rule book, for what kind of armor Necrons have", they're going to want the rules. This is completely asinine to me. And, it's not just the book, "The Edge of Silence" is the same way, in fact, it seems, all the Codex books and such are the same. To this I say, just borrow your friend's book, or look up the info you need online, there are ways to view it without needing this over the top paperweight. As for the build quality of the pieces, the push fit is really great and now having experience gluing other pieces, all of these should be push fit. That being said, the Necron push fits are rather fiddly, so be careful. They can have more obvious mold lines on them than the space marines, which means more work cleaning up.

Got a kid into 40k? Great Christmas present
For those of you not in the know, Warhammer 40,000 just entered a new edition, meaning a lot of things are changing and there is a new rulebook. Usually, when this happens, Games Workshop sells a good value box to get people started. This is an amazing value box, giving a huge number of models, most of which are easy to fit together without glue. It comes with the core rulebook (which is pretty expensive separately) and includes everything you need to play the game. The fact that this box is further on sale is amazing. Also, act fast. Indomitus was a major issue for GW, because it had a very limited number of boxes to sell, many of which went to scalpers. They did another run, but there aren't a huge number of these out there and some people are STILL waiting for kits from the second run. I gave up hope of ever getting one until I saw this. So if you or one of your kids were disappointed by missing out, here is your second chance. A note to someone buying this for someone else: Remember that these are plain plastic models, some of which require plastic glue (though most don't). You also need other tools like a sprue cutter and mold line remover (I use an Exact-0 knife), but you can pick those up at any hobby shop. You'll also (eventually) need to prime and paint each model. You might consider giving the tools as a separate gift, but waiting on the paint, since the person you are giving this too might want to choose different colors than what's on the box.

So much for the $200 I paid.
There's so much freakin' plastic in this thing. The Necrons especially! So many tomb king terminator boys and other creepy bits of living metal. The rule book is included. It's hefty, well printed, and has lots of creepy illustrations. Oh, there's also some marines in there, if you're into that sort of thing. Lots of fancy, heavy duty front line guys. Contents: Space Marines - Primaris Captain with Mastercraft Sword and Relic Shield - Primaris Lieutenant with Mastercraft Sword, Storm Shield, and Neo-Volkite Pistol - Primaris Chaplain - Judiciar (coolest model imo) - 3 Bladeguard Veterans - 1 Bladeguard Ancient - 3 Eradicators - 10 Assault Intercessors - 3 Outriders Necrons: - Overlord with Hyperphase Glaive and Tachyon Arrow - Royal Warden with big ol' relic gauss blaster - Plasmancer - 2 Cryptothralls to keep your Plasmancer company - Skorpekh Lord - 3 Skorpekh Destroyers - 1 Plasmacyte - 1 Canoptyk Reanimator - 6 Canoptyk Scarab Swarms - 20 Freaking Necron Warriors! Other Stuff: - The heavy rulebook that will give the little ones nightmares. - Some booklet about the Necrons wiping the floor with the smurfettes... good times - Assembling Booklet... thorough and helpful - Space Marine Transfer sheet that has transfers for Ultrasmurfs, Bloody Birdboys, Space Dogs, and Brooding Greenies BUT NO RAVEN GUARD TRANSFERS! HERESY!

So many cool new units!
For the price I paid, this box was worth every penny. Though I am not a necron player myself I am grateful to have them in my collection. The space marine units are really cool looking and it was a wonder time building all of them. The necrons were a little harder to build as some of their more delicate parts would break off and I'd have to glue them back on. I now have a necron warrior who has a broken leg that (in my own lore) is being kept together via magnetism. The space marine units are really awesome in game, especially since I am a blood angels player myself. Got to love that close combat brutality. Overall love this boxset and can't wait to get my units painted and play with them on the tabletop.

Perfect condition, missing promotional bracelet/pins.
All the models came in excellent condition, the bag of bases was ripped open but that's it. Was missing the bracelet and pins, though. I was looking forward to those :/

Impressive experience.
This is far and away the best basic box for 40K in its entire 9 Editions. The amount of figures you get is impressive enough but they are actually something you would want to use. Most starter boxes come with figures you will replace in short order but some of these are amazing centerpieces. The Book is a massive tome that is just gorgeous to look at, most of the book is devoted to the lore of 40K and the Lore of the various factions. The rules take up like maybe 45 pages or so. Overall this is the best box and the overall experience from the seller was amazing. Original Arrival Date was going to be late September and I end up getting it 3 weeks early in perfect condition. Kudos to GW and the Seller.

A present from the emperor himself.
The box is worth twice this for models alone. Sure, some of the models need a little love but nothing a few head swaps wont fix. It did arrive with a little damage (internal pin was broken on an Eradicator ) but any small damaged can be fixed, thats part of the fun. Overall this is a great box but necrons might make it a little hard for new players.

More addictive than Sunny Delight
Brilliant!!! Ordered this after having secretly spent many hours in the evening watching 40k videos on YouTube (every time my girlfriend would come downstairs I’d change the channel to porn to hide my shame). But now my secret is out! After suppressing my inner geek for nearly 30 years I have rekindled my 40k teen years (I have the original Rogue Trader and a load of metal Space Marines, Orks, Eldar and Tyrannids in the loft). This set does not disappoint and is packed with some high quality minis and a hardback core book with awesome artwork (although I’m a fan of the less crisp look preferring the dark art of the late 80s / early 90s. So whilst my girlfriend now makes me walk behind her in public (wait until she sees my 90s Bjorn the Fell-Handed t-shirt) and insists we drive everywhere in separate cars...I am one happy fella with my new purchase. Some men buy fancy cars when they have their midlife crisis, others find solace in younger women with names like Tiffany-Dolce or decide to get tribal tattoos and grow a beard in an attempt to appear like some sort of Tier One operator when in actual fact they work in IT sales and just read everything written by Ant Middleton. And then there are those of us who prefer the intoxicating smell of plastic glue as we imagine commanding a Company of Blood Angel Terminators tasked with obliterating the foes of the Imperium. So, in conclusion: this set is perfect for getting newbies into 40k as much as it is for 40 year olds with dad-bods who have suppressed the inner geek in themselves for 30 years. Buy this as soon as you can!
