BLACK+DECKER 16-Cup Rice Cooker, RC516, 8-Cup Uncooked Rice, Steaming Basket, Removable Non-Stick Bowl, One Touch

This was like a lifesaver, making dinner so much easier to cook for about a month. Then my house filled up with the smell of burned plastic, I traced it back to the kitchen but could not find what was causing the smell. When I did, I saw that the control panel had melted, to my absolute horror. For the first time ever the rice had also burned without automatically going to the warm setting. I took the cooking dish out and used a wooden spoon to try to turn the rice cooker off but it wouldn't turn off. I made a video of what happened because I feel like I have an obligation to say something but this was a great rice cooker I thought I'd have forever before this occurred.

Live this rice cooker. It makes wonderful tasting rice and steamed vegetables - even at the same time. I love how easy it is to make rice and even more so on how quick and easy it is to clean. It’s a nice size for small spaces but yet makes enough for bigger crowds. Would certainly recommend this cooker.

I was replacing a Cuisinart rice cooker (my second over the years) and thought I’d try something more budget-friendly. On paper, this BLACK+DECKER model looked comparable. In reality… not even close. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating kitchen appliance experiences I’ve had in a while. Let’s start with the instructions—somehow both overly complicated and unhelpful at the same time. Between two adults with plenty of cooking experience, we couldn’t make sense of them and had to turn to a video just to get going. Then came the cooking process… which seemed to go on forever. And ever. And ever. We’re talking nearly an hour for rice, during which time the cooker also decided to spew water all over my counter. At one point I found myself partially covering it with a dishtowel (not exactly in the instruction manual…), just trying to contain the mess. When I finally checked the rice—well after dinner should have been served—it was still a soupy, gloppy situation. Not exactly the goal. Pros: Lower price point Large capacity Cons: Confusing, poorly written instructions Extremely long cook time Water overflow and counter mess Inconsistent, undercooked results Not comparable to more reliable brands Best for: Honestly, I’d have a hard time recommending this—especially if you’ve used a more dependable rice cooker before. Bottom line: This one is already headed back. I’ve reordered my trusty Cuisinart, which may cost more but actually cooks rice (and doesn’t redecorate my kitchen in the process). Save yourself the frustration and skip this one.

I got an old version of this black & decker rice cooker around 1991. Even though the non-stick was all scratched up and I had dropped and dented the bowl, it still worked after 30+ years, but when the power cord started having issues and I dropped and dented the body to match the dented bowl...I gave in and just bought another. The first thing I noticed was the bowl seems at least half as thick as the old one. Like dollar store frying pan thin in comparison. I do not want to drop this one because it will definitely dent WAY easier. The coating is also different, but don't feel that matters. The body of the cooker also seemed lighter, so don't want to drop it either, and the power cord is now attached unlike the old double barrel one that plugged in. The glass lid appears to be the same size with updated handle that hangs on the cooker's handle, the measure cup is square instead of the more compact round...but the spoon is actually identical to the old one - the only thing unchanged, lol. I don't remember a plastic steam basket included with the old one, but it's nice to have. Despite the changes the only thing that matters is if it still cooks rice well. Even though the cooking time seems the same, I don't know if they have different timers or something, because I've found 'Warm' on the new one just means keep cooking and burning the bottom. Thankfully the coating does its job. With the old one I always fluffed the rice when it clicked from Cook to Warm, and just left it on as it finished cooking off the water. With this one, when it clicks over to Warm, the rice is already done without excess water still, so I just unplug it. Maybe it's just the one I got, and your mileage may vary. In the end the rice comes out the same and overall I'm fine with it, but given how they managed to cheapen out on the material it feels like it should cost closer to what I paid back in the 90s.

I’m very impressed with this 16-cup rice cooker. It’s perfect for preparing large meals for family gatherings or meal prep. The rice comes out fluffy and evenly cooked every time, and the large capacity makes it easy to cook enough for everyone at once. The controls are simple to use, and the keep-warm function keeps the rice fresh until it’s ready to serve. It’s easy to clean, well made, and offers excellent value for the price. I’m very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it.

Muy práctica y funciona muy bien, el número de tazas indicado es de tamaño tipo té, ósea son tazas pequeñas, no taza de cocina. Este tamaño de olla es aproximadamente para dos tazas medidoras de cocina.

Só usei duas vezes já estragou não consigo falar com vendendo Não recomendo

Tamaño perfecto, nada se le pega, me encantó y el tiempo de cocción si le pones pocas tazas es rápido, le puse arroz para sushi, solo dos tazas y en menos de 15 minutos ya estaba cocinado, muy recomendable

Não gostei da consistência do arroz ! No fundo da panela, ele fica todo grudado e a panela é muito fina e leve em comparação às outras , inclusive as mais baratas
