Decent Support a little better than an ACE bandage
Bought this because of a bad foot/ankle sprain. I use it when I’m not wearing one of those short orthopedic boots. I’ll wear it more once I start to heal a little better (based on past injuries where I’ve used an ACE bandage for this sort of thing). IF you know how to properly wrap an ace bandage for your ankle - this is similar support. A little more support along the sides to prevent rolling. The two straps that cross and go underneath the arch of the foot are nice, you can pull them tight, and even adjust those with a shoe on. Getting it on and off - depending on how far you can (or can’t) point your toes, you may have to unlace the inner boot part one or more eyelets from the top to give the laces enough slack to get your foot in. That will take a little longer to get it on and off, but that’s fine. There is plenty of room if you do this. Lacing it up is easy, and the lower laces will hold tension while you do the next set up - means you can adjust it per lace and it will hold where you set the tension. The material itself is about what I expected for something of this price range - the materials are thin, so that it can be worn with a shoe. That’s a compromise - If it were bulkier strapping or boot material, it would be too thick to get into a shoe. The thinner material may not last as long if there is a lot of abrasion involved with your use case. IF you wear out other braces with abrasion, you’ll wear this one out too. I won’t, so that isn’t a concern for my use case. Stitching is about average - there is bar tacking on some of the areas so it’s not overly cheap. Velcro is good enough - good heavier hook and loop like on other orthopedic boots. Takes about the same amount of time for me to put this on as wrapping my foot with an ACE bandage. You get a little more support on the sides, but not much (assuming you know how to adjust tension when wrapping a foot with an elastic bandage). For sizing - I guessed based on shoe size and it's a good fit, size Large (foot is men's 11, width C-D based on a brannock device) - however - I later measured with a measuring tape, and I'm exactly 13.5", which is right in the middle of a size Large. That's the critical measure - up around your ankle over the top of the arch of the foot. Measure with a tape if you can. Piece of string and use a ruler, whatever. Overall - easy to use, easy to set the support where you want it. Materials are decent enough. I’d buy it again.

“My Ankle Was Acting Up — This Brace Told It to Walk Again
I injured my ankle and walking started to feel like a bad life choice. Put this ankle stabilizing brace on, and honestly? Huge difference. The support is solid without feeling like my foot is trapped in a medieval device. It made weight-bearing noticeably easier almost right away. I could walk more normally, with way less pain and wobble. Compression is just right — supportive, not cutting off circulation — and it fits well inside a regular shoe. It’s comfortable enough to wear for hours, easy to put on, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do: keeps your ankle from doing dumb things while it heals. If your ankle is being dramatic and you just want to walk like a normal human again, this brace is worth it. Would absolutely buy again.

Nice brace, fits in my hiking shoes.
I had a bad high-ankle sprain while hiking. These lace tightly to the foot with traditional laces, and are over-wrapped in a crossover fashion with three different stretch pieces that velcro into place. It fits into my hiking boots and is quite comfortable. It provides enough stability that two weeks after the injury I was able to get back onto some trails. Like any soft brace the potential is still there to roll your ankle if you're not careful, but this "should" restrict movement enough to lessen the impact if you do. I have never used one before and was careful not to become reliant on it longterm, but (I only hiked in it for two weeks) in this instance it helped me get back hiking sooner than without using it and the ankle is a-ok. Light & easy to use, will bring one in my pack for my next backcountry trip "just in case".

The Best
I have worn these for over 15 years, I have always has issues rolling my ankles and can't count how many times these have saved me. They are super comfortable, won't make your feet super sore like other brands, I've worn these for 12 hours straight and had zero issues. If you need ankle support these are more than worth it

Good product
Fits perfect and my ankle feels well supported

good support but requires hot spot mgmt.
Bracing support good. Has areas of hot spots that will cause chafing. Add extra padding to these areas. You have to balance tightness for support versus areas of too much pressure. My foot got red and sore at the top of the arch. Had to loosen toreduce support for ankle.

Excellent product for active persons with ankle problems! (Updated 4 year review)
In March 2012, I suffered a major sprain and hairline fracture on my ankle while playing badminton and had to recuperate for four months before resuming my sports activities. My doctor recommended me to wear an ankle brace to prevent injuring my ankle again. I purchased the Ankle Stabilizing Orthosis based on the high number of positive reviews in Amazon and due to the fact that I've seen a lot of professional tennis players wear ASO. I'm glad that I purchased ASO! I have been using ASO for a year now and it has served me quite well. The first time I wore ASO, I was worried about it completely restricting my ankle movement, but I need not have worried. ASO only restricts those movements that will end up twisting or spraining the ankle but otherwise does not restrict the ankle at all. On other other hand, the tightness and snug fit of the ASO on the ankle is very reassuring! Despite being used heavily for over a year and over two to three times a week, ASO still works as good as the day I bought it and the velcro still sticks nice & tight despite a year's wear. When I bought it, I expected this to last a year or so since it was going to be put through a lot of wear, but I think this will last me at least a couple of more years! As a side note, I bought the large size since I wear size 10 shoes. **Update March 2015**: I thought I would post an update since my original review was written almost 2 years ago. I'm still using the ASO and it has worked wonderfully for almost 4 years. That shows the quality of this brace and after 4 years of continuous use, only now the velcro is beginning to loose its strength. The ASO is still very much usable, and I think it will last at least another 8 - 10 months before I need to replace it. Given how long the ASO has lasted under regular usage, I will be more than happy to order the same ASO brace when it's time to replace!!

Finally back on the pitch thanks to these braces
Been struggling with ankle problems A LOT. These replace all the taping I have to do. They are comfortable. They give plenty of support. They are easy to clean. So far, absolutely recommend. I am back at playing football 4 times a week after month and month of physio, the braces are now making the important difference.

Great for ankle support
This has got to be the best ankle stabilizer I have ever bought online. I would suggest this to anyone who has any ankle problems. I play baseball and I hurt my ankle running i just put this on now, and I practiced running sure, it's not perfect. But at least I can actually run with my ankle stabilized. I am so happy I bought this product. Thank you so much
