Teaching Reading to English Language Learners: Differentiated Literacies (Pearson Resources for Teaching English Learners) Review: Book - Read parts for school. Good information! Review: GREAT BOOK for teaching - GREAT BOOK for teaching! What a difference this book makes for understanding how to differentiate instruction for ELL students! My only criticism is that I wished that this book provided more intervention strategies for writing difficulties, but this isn't the author's fault because there isn't much research to date in this category.

The authors do a great job of explaining the research-based elements of literacy that the National Reading Panel says need to be present in any reading approach and how these elements affect the approach to literacy for English Language Learners.

Good for Elem.
The text was redundant. Secondary strategies for reading were given a tiny mention in the chapters.Elementary strategies and examples were helpful. Cultural constructs of of teaching CLD students were numerous. Good appendix to compare structure of several languages.
