Anyone use this on a 20 gallon long tank for a leopard gecko???

I use mine to heat my 29 gallon reptile aquarium. Get the thermostat for it because these mats run at about 100 degrees without it.

can you put splitter on controller and run multiple mats?

You surely can, the 1020 mats are only about 20 watts each. What you need to watch out for though is after you get various brands of mats. They are not equal. Some run hotter than others. If you place your temperature probe in a tray on a hotter mat and set it to 85F, one of your cooler mats may only be maintaining around 78F.

What do you do to get this mat to lay flat? Mine seems permanently creased and bent from its shipping position.

I had to put something about the same size on it for a couple of days to get it to lay flat. Even a piece of wood with a weight on it would work, about 5 pounds is all that's needed. Hope this helps!

Can the probe be left in the air to read temperature? I'm trying to keep an enclosed container warm at a set temp.

Yes, it can read room temperature, however it's the soil temperature that helps the seedlings grow. Also, I believe when it reaches set temperature it has a delay before turning back on. So use sand or rocks to retain the heat longer.
