ROCAM Wireless IP Dome Camera, Black (NC300-I)

Where to begin wit this thing....I bought this one because at the time it had decently good reviews (6 months ago) but I see now that its rating have lowered. I bought this to replace another cheap camera that busted after a few weeks on me. I just now got around to opening it and setting it up.I came across several issues with this camera:1)The network cable they shipped it with did not work. I swapped it out for one I had and mine worked, so that confirmed theirs was a dud.2) Once I got the camera set up I tried to adjust the Alarm settings. The changes I made do not save. I see that many other people have had the same issue. For example, I tried turning the Alarm Sound off and hit Save. When I went back into the menu, it was back on. Not sure what's going on there. Which brings me to #3.3) It is impossible to have motion sensor recording turned on without the siren going off each time. It's pretty obnoxious so I'd be stuck with not being able to turn on motion sensor recording which is half the reason I bought this.4) The camera could not connect to my wifi. I tried several times and verified my password was correct. After you change the wifi password, the camera has to restart so you have to wait through that each time. Every time it turned back on it said the connection to my wifi network failed. So I'd have to use it plugged into my router which does not help me because I need to place it in the front of the house.5) The setup manual did not match the user interface of the app. The manual has menu options like FTP and sub menus of Alarm that did not exist in the app.About the only thing this camera did well was the live streaming. So I could watch live and take photos/video manually and that seemed to work fine. However, since that's the only thing that seems to work, I have to give this a 1 star. I wish I had seen the other bad reviews before purchasing this as I just wasted $55.I have a feeling that since both cheaper units I bought are no good, that in order to get a quality camera, I will probably have to pay the extra $50 for a better reviewed one. I would stay away from this one.

Updated because of their customer service. Previous review still stands, but their customer service bumps this from 4 stars to 5 stars. Kudos to great customer service.For the money, it's worth it. I downloaded a different app than it said to because I didn't really like the app they tell you to get, but will still have to use the included app when on the go because the other app says the camera won't let me connect without being on home network.Very simple to setup but they sent me a European power supply so I had to go buy an adapter at radio shack. Also, the power cable is about 2-3 feet long and doesn't really allow you to move the unit too far from a power source without an extension cord. It's a good buy for the price, but not the best thing in the world. The speaker that emits your voice is horrid and doesn't even sound like a human talking into it and provides giant feedback which pretty much makes it unusable. Picture quality is pretty decent as well.

The camera is easy to install and use. The smartphone software is very easy to navigate and user-friendly. The ppictures and recording capability as well as the audio recording capability pmake it a good value. The on I have about this product is that it does not have a re-chargeable battery or some other type of independent power supply. It must be plugged into the outlet for it to function. But that is not why I took off one star for the rating.The MAIN PROBLEM that I had when it arrived, the camera had a European-style plug for the AC adapter. Now both the recipient (me) and the seller (Yelaw Group, Inc.) are located inside the US. And yet they are selling equipment with a European-style power plug??? I have no idea why they would have done this , but they did. It was an easy fix: a trip to Radio Shack at 9:45 PM to get the adapter that allows for use in a US style electrical receptical, but why I would have to do that - being an American and having bought the unit from a US business - is beyond me.Otherwise the unit itself seems to be working great.

The camera is very well priced and has decent functionalities- night vision works great, it pans and moves 360 degrees. However, the resolution is a bit weak and the app for viewing is almost impossible to use. I can rarely get connected on one try and it constantly disconnects. I use it as a baby monitor and wanted to add the motion detecting function but am unable to figure out how to set it up without enabling the alarm that blares from the camera once it detects any movement which really is infuriating when I am trying to keep my baby asleep. Love the price, but this product really needs to improve the app it is associated with needs complete overhaul.
