A great book to expand you’re excel sports modeling knowledge
A great expansion of what the author wrote about in his first book in this series. This book shows you the step by step process on an even larger amount of excel models and sports data information. The book also comes with a downloadable package so you can use the model as you read along. A great book for someone looking to expand their knowledge in sports modeling in excel

Excellent follow up to 1st Book
Andrew Mack has written a second excellent book on statistical sports modeling in excel. His first book took the reader through multiple models and gave a baseline on winning systems in sports predictive analysis. The second book goes deeper in how to develop successful models using player data. Andrew also touches lightly on basic Bayesian applications and a recommendation for further reading. Andrew keeps his book on point for the general sports betting group who takes their hobby seriously- but does not have the time to learn more advanced coding like Python or R. He describes his method of modeling- and provides the reader the ability to gain a slight edge over the sportsbook. Do not read this book for the easy answer on how to win at sports gambling. Andrew does NOT promise riches or a 90% win rate. He is honest and lets you know- to win against the book- you have to work hard and look for an edge. However- the author gives you a definite headstart in learning how to model at a player level and enough information to develop winning player props. This book is mandatory for anyone who wants to take their sports predictions to the next level. Excellent follow up- I highly recommend.

Very practical book
I’ve been interested in building a sports model for a while and have tried to pull a lot of nuggets out of the many books on the subject, but had difficulty going from thoughts to actual model. This book, and the previous book in this series, got me over the hump. The author does a great job tying everything together in a clear and logical way that really balances math and theory well. The templates are good examples to really help you get going on your own ideas. I use R for programming but the concepts here are extremely transferrable. I commend the author for putting together a book with plenty of substance and practical advice that will go alongside the very few other quality sports betting books.

NFL projection model.
I guess I’m not as smart as I thought. My computer did not have everything needed to get results.

Good Book to Learn about Modeling basics
Easy to follow along with and good continuation of volume 1. The link to the spreadsheets is thrown in randomly halfway through the book which is why I think a lot of people reviewing are saying they aren't included, and to be honest I thought it was a little weird that they were thrown in to start chapter 8 when you need to use them to follow chapters 1 through 7, but they are there.

After reading his first book in the series I immediately signed up for preorder for this release... Glad I did!!! More great insights and help to understand/setup your statistical inputs and using them in excel. Book also includes some great resource outlets to use in your data mining needs

Incredible
By far the single most important sports modeling book I've ever read. Walks you through everything step by step, and his models helped me generate a half dozen ideas for myself.

Another excellent addition to Andrew’s stable.
Another great addition to Volume 1. Whilst this book won’t allow you to give up the day job, it gives you a valuable insight into prop bets and looking at things from other angles and is the perfect follow-on from the first book. Can’t really recommend Andrew’s work enough.

Wirklich schwach
Das Buch liefert für mich als erfahrenen Sportwetter (5 Jahre Erfahrung) leider keinen Mehrwert. Wer ansatzweise Excel-Erfahrung hat braucht dieses Buch nicht.

Another invaluable resource
Once again, Andrew Mack has gone above and beyond in helping beginner and intermediate sports modellers with his latest book, Statistical Sports Models in Excel, Volume 2. For those who aren't classically trained in statistics like myself, Andrew breaks down the concepts and theories in a manner that I can understand and apply to working models. After reading the "How Predictive is Stat X" chapter, I was able to transform some of my past models that were very crude into something that, I believe, now have some value. Through the years, my primary focus was trying to build and perfect team models. Through those explorations, I knew building player-based models would try to be my next step. Player models offer more flexibility re: injuries, late lineup changes, etc., but I found that my Internet searches only scratched the surface. Andrew has provided player-based models in Volume 2 that I can now use as a viable starting point. Before the Great Sportsball Hiatus of 2020, I began building an NCAA basketball model (based on the NBA BPM model that was outlined in the book), which showed some promise with very limited testing. And while all the models that Andrew provides are helpful and insightful, in my humble opinion, the NHL Expected Goals Model is worth the price of the book on its own. As with SSME Volume 1, Andrew continually encourages the reader to explore and try different ideas. The possibilities can be endless if you allow yourself to think outside the tool box and use the tools that Andrew provides. I recommend Statistical Sports Models in Excel, Volume 2, very highly if you are a beginner or intermediate sports modeller who would like to improve their modelling skills and thought processes.

Again, excellent
A fantastic extension to the first book, often looking at player level models. An excellent step by step walk through to each model, which is available to download, included in the price of the book. Thought provoking ideas about a wide range of sports. When’s book 3 out?

Better than the first one
To me, this book was better than the first one. While they were both great, I got to draw more out of this as mostly a prop bettor myself. You wont be able to use the models outlined here to quit your job and make tons of money but it's not the goal of the book. If you read it with an open mind, you should come up with many model ideas on your own to try and experiment with. Makes me wish I took more stats classes in university. Overall the best book about sports betting (and modeling) i've ever purchased.
