The Nipit solved our thumb-sucking problem. It really works!
The Nipit arrived at my home the very next day after ordering it. I was pretty excited to test it out on my 7-year-old. I planned to present it to him before bedtime. I told my son before the hand stopper arrived that I had purchased an item that would help him stop sucking his thumb in his sleep. He could not wait to see what it was. My son hated that he sucked his thumb in his sleep. I tried everything. Putting socks on his hands, the thumb guards, and the nail polish, they all didn’t work. He would take the socks and thumb guard off in his sleep. I guess he could tolerate the taste of the nail polish because it did nothing to help him. My child usually could control himself during the day like most children who suck their thumbs, he has triggers, and before he knew it his thumb was in his mouth. When Nipit arrived, I checked it out thoroughly. It came in a handy reusable outer packaging that you can use for storage and to keep the hand stopper clean. It has bright, fun colors and is surprisingly soft. The Nipit is made well and very durable. It has a padded elbow cushion, velcro flaps, and straps that are adjustable for comfort. An instruction card on how-to-use, a tip guide, calendar, stickers, and zip ties for additional parental control are all included with the hand stopper. You can also go to Nipit.com/start to watch a video on how to correctly put the product on and to read other valuable information. You can also sign up for their email while you there. They only send a few emails over the span of the 21 days to help keep you and your child on track. I was impressed with the idea of the Super Success Chart and colorful star stickers to keep track of his success. It was helpful to us because it gave him the incentive to remind me that he needed to put on the Nipit every night. He looked forward to the prize at the end of the 21 days. I also could tell it made him feel good every time he placed a star. The first night of wearing the Nipit, he was so pleased with himself, he slept through the night without sucking his thumb. During the day, he would request it sometimes because he would have a trigger and wanted to suck his thumb. This good behavior continued throughout the 21 days. I am so proud of him. He was determined to kick this habit. He had a few hiccups along the way, but for the most part, he stuck with it. I rooted for him every step of the way. He is now sleeping without the Nipit and is free of thumb sucking. I didn’t even have to use the childproof easylock system (zip ties). The velcro flaps and straps worked perfectly. The best part is I don’t have to pay to correct thumb-sucking teeth. At last, something that worked. I am so grateful for this product. I will be recommending it to everyone.

Worth The Buy!
Our little one has sucked her thumb since birth and we recently purchased this brace in hopes of helping her stop. With lots of consistency for about 3 weeks we managed to make progress. We tried the nail products and but got use to the horrible taste quickly. This brace really works! They can put their thumb in mouth but the resistance of the brace tires them out quickly especially at night when they are too tired to hold their arm. Wish it came in different colors like for girls but overall the best tool to break the habit! Fits very comfortably too!

Shockingly Easy and POSITIVE way to help kid
This worked SO well, I'm honestly in shock. We went from 24/7 sucking to practically done within DAYS and a lot of grins from our kid that was so proud. Background: Our 4-year-old was the most determined thumb-sucker since birth and did it day and night. We waited and waited, doctor said not to worry until 4 since most kids stopped by then, but he was still doing it day and night well past his 4th birthday and had already developed a visible cross-bite. We probably should have started something a year ago, but so many of the other methods felt cruel or punitive. I'm not afraid of some tough-love where necessary, but I prefer gentle parenting when it's an option and it felt like it was especially important to be gentle with something that was such a source of comfort. Using the Product: We were able to make this a super positive experience that actually made him excited to wear it, which was amazing. He wasn't totally on board with why we needed to do it, but once we were able to make it fun he was all on board. We called it his "supercharged robot arm" and he added the fact that it gave him magical powers. When he wears it he can give "supercharged" high fives and hugs that are super powerful. We hammed it up when he gave us high-fives and hugs. We told him he could have as many as he wanted since it might be tough. The first day he was a little whiney, said he really missed his thumb, but I kept reminding him of his new magical powers. We also pretended his thumb and mouth were having a conversation. His mouth told his thumb that it wanted to be healthy and be able to taste the prize ice-cream. He would tell me a lot that his tongue missed his thumb and I told him his thumb said "No way mouth, I want to play!" He thought it was so silly that his mouth and thumb were fighting. This all pretty much stopped after the second day and now two weeks in he just loves showing off his supercharged high-fives to everybody we talk to. He found it comfortable and he was able to play just fine, but we took it off to eat. We just finished up the second week and he's barely wearing it during the day, pretty much just during quiet time when I'm not watching him. We've had test runs during shows and books and he hasn't even tried to suck his thumb. This was so easy and tear-free and I love that I can probably reuse it for little sister that will likely need it too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Worked wonders at first…..
My daughter is almost 4 and I waited (and dreaded) the process of weaning her from thumb sucking. This product is Ah-mazing and I definitely recommend it! It stops the habit by bringing her attention to the behavior by making the habit of putting her hand up to her mouth difficult and uncomfortable. The novelty of the sticker chart helped too. She was actually excited to stop. We used it for about a month and she no longer sucks her thumb, even at bedtime! HOWEVER… She started the habit back up again about a year after stopping and now the Velcro on the Nip it doesn’t hold and she just slips it off. I’ve used the zip ties it came with and she still manages to wiggle it off. Not very happy with the long term durability.

Does not work. Pictures and Description misleading
This product does not work. At all. I purchased at the end of October, now here we are, almost the middle of December, and we are still trying, unsuccessfully, to make it work. The picture and description shows that a child needs to use two hands to force a thumb into her mouth. That is not true. My daughter can get her thumb in her mouth wearing this device, no problem. The directions sent with the device state to tighten it, if a child can easily put their thumb in their mouth. Well, I could tighten it. But this will cut off blood flow to my daughter’s arm. So I am forced to choose between hurting her, or tying her into this device every night. It also takes her about 2 seconds to remove this from her arm. The only way we can keep it on her is to zip tie it-which we had to do, almost every night. I have serious moral issues with zip tying something on my three-year-old child. And because this wasn’t meant to be used every night for almost 2 months, its starting to fray and get worn. Any advertising on this device is misleading. I have not found any success other than physically forcing my child to wear this, and even then I’ve had to put another device on the thumb to keep her from sucking her thumb while she wears this first device—which was meant to keep her from sucking her thumb. I’m not even sure that this is actually accomplishing anything when she wears it. Do not waste your money.

Good idea, poor quality
Our 4 year old was ready to stop thumb sucking and very willing to wear the nipit. It worked well for three weeks, but then it started to fall apart (a piece of velcro just fell off) and generally just became looser, so we would tighten it enough in the morning to keep his thumb out but over the next hour or two would become too loose to be effective. It keeps his thumb out a lot of the time, but it seems that if he can suck it sometimes, it will not break the habit. For the price, we expected good quality that would last. We liked the idea of the nipit rather than nailpolish or a glove, but unfortunately it turned out to be poor quality and I recommend trying something else.

Amazingly successful for a 2 yr old
I bought just one of these to use for my 2 yr old about a month after she turned 2. She was such a strong thumb sucker that she was doing it ALL day and every night and she had horrible open wounds on her thumb as well as a tough callus. I was so tired of it and really wanted to get ahead of the problem before it became more difficult to solve. I also already had tried the bitter nail polish thing when she was younger but it didn’t work at all. I am SO glad I found this tool and I’m also Super glad we did this so young! We used the Nipit only during the day and we combined it with zip-up PJ’s that have fold-over mittens (these were hard to find in the 2T size- we got Bellabu Bear brand Jammie’s). So we used the PJ’s to cover both hands at nap time and night time, and Nipit on the arm during the day. I was amazed that my kiddo really didn’t mind it at all. She cried for like 20 seconds the first time I put it on and then she didn’t care anymore. It didn’t prevent her from eating food or playing with toys or anything at all. And she couldn’t get the Velcro open. So we didn’t have to use the zip ties. After the first day, she actually Asked for me to put it on her every day afterwards! I think she liked it. We only needed to do the Nipit for about 2.5 weeks and we already noticed that her daytime habit was gone. We just forgot to put it on one day and realized we simply didn’t need it anymore! Then the next day we tried to stop covering her hands at night, but she went right back to the thumb. So we covered her hands again and just stuck with that a little longer for night time. About 2 weeks later, we forgot to cover her hands at night and she didn’t go for her thumb at all! I’m literally shocked that she has completely kicked the habit both day and night in just over 4 weeks! It’s like it never even happened. And the callus on her thumb is finally healing too. I was worried that would never go away. I think it needs another week or two, but 80% of the callus is completely gone already.

Worked for us
This took about 6 weeks in total, but it was worn only at night and into the late morning. We also used another physical device, a T-guard, that did not work well for us, and I sewed a small thumb cover which did help but was escapable. Finally our kid decided they'd had enough and stopped thumb sucking at night. This was a tough habit to break, and the nipit isn't perfect but it did the job and it is worth every penny. Definitely beats all the other alternatives, and our kid did not mind wearing it, even thought it looked cool.
