it's a good budget router.
Works well, using it in my home office. I have a 8 port switch hooked up to it that I run my computer, Nas, Printer, and my significant others computer. The router configuration is easy and I have it wall mounted. Range is good considering the walls are cinder block. I like the fact I can control the transmission power. WiFi range seems to be around 200 feet on 2.4 GHz and similar to 5GHz. Overall I would recommend this router

SUPER GREAT PRODUCT.
I saw some reviews for this product and I must say, it's either share bias against the product because it does not carry a traditional brand name, or the persons who are writing these bad reviews are completely not tech savvy and or possesses the combination of ignorance with the lack of technical abilities. #1. The router comes with a default password which is a combination of digits on the back of the router. Which is great because even if you lack the ability to set up a router, at least it is partially protected. Unlike some routers that comes open and or with the the world well known stupid pre-assigned password (admin). #2. The router has the capability of two wifi frequencies. 2.4Ghz/5Ghz. #3. If it is that you are savvy enough and you are able to access the router via it's gateway, you will find that the interface of the router is to die for. Very, very nice, wouldn't say straight forward but if you are savvy you will find it extremely great. Here is the kicker: People have been bad reviewing the router claiming that it is dropping connections (THAT'S A LIE). First things first, if you internet is intermittent: check your service provider, check your modem, check your router config, replace your router with another router just to make sure of the status. All these steps must be carried out before a router can be blamed. I purchased this router the 25th Jan 2021, said router is in use almost a month to date with absolutely no hiccups. I've decided that i wasn't going to write a review unless I have watch and proved the operation of the router. And most certainly did. Great product, it could be at least 5$ cheaper but hey, with 2.4/5Ghz band and MU-MIMO technology not saying the price is super great but it is fairly decent. Great product, great functionality, good looks and great performance. I am receiving stronger signals and better connectivity than I was with my previous router. The naming of the product could have been better (CUDY) just don't have an electronic jump at you name but hey, none the less the product is superb.

Offers more options than our previous router
We wanted a router that would give us more flexibility--Turning off the 5Ghz which we don't need and turning off wifi at night. This lets us do both. It was fairly simple, but I would have appreciated more instructions--either in the user guide or on the website.

A good looking, well-featured router with an openwrt based firmware!
Never heard of this company but I needed to get something simple and decent looking and that had gigabit ethernet, 802.11ac wifi, and a USB port for sharing an external drive. Yep this router is already a super deal with just those features. But the BIG reason why I really like this router is that it has an openwrt based firmware that's officially supported by Cudy! The web gui is simple and good looking and actually packs in a lot of features. Originally it came an older firmware from which was already pretty good and it was what I needed to share an attached usb drive over full gigabit ports. Also the wifi works very well but I already have that handled by a separate device in my layout. I have updated it to the latest firmware and I must say I'm quite impressed by what this router can do now. I've had it a few months and I can say so far nothing has gone out of whack. I know people will be leery of off-brand products so I'll have to see how this thing holds up over time. As it stands it is running solid with no hiccups and is easily handling my home network. I run a dedicated voip phone and a downstream switch for the hardwired stuff (consoles, desktops) as well as another downstream wireless router/access point where all the wifi/low priority stuff goes to (phones, laptops, printer, tv) with advanced filtering and time-out scheduling. This "segmented network" keeps the priority where it's needed and delivers more than enough connectivity options and bandwidth for heavy home media streaming and networking needs.

So far so good, not sure about gig ports and runs hot.
So far so good. I have seen a lot of negative reviews online for this router. My guess is people don’t know how to set them up or expect advertised speeds which are unrealistic with any router. My only grip is the so called gig ports don’t reach the speed of my old 2.5n router with 10/100 ports. I get much lower speed. But I am almost getting 300mbps with this router over 5ghz. Will see how long it lasts, I put a fan under it cause it gets hot on top as there are no vents, not smart design. Like it’s designed to overheat and fail. This is usually the reason routers need to be rebooted, overheat and lock up. Edit: If you want to get better speeds on 2 and 5ghz, seems setting (default) trasmit rate to MAX is not working well, not enough power or processor. Change tye tramit rate on both bands to mod or min and speeds will increase. I set 2ghz band to 40mhz and 5ghz to 80mhz. Make those settings and you will get more consistent speeds. Especially lowering the transmit rates. MAX is too high for both bands, my guess is the processor cant keep up ornot enough juice.

Does not work as described as AP
The item does not work as an access point alone. Wants to send DHCP to the network like a router does. Works great as a router, but not as an access point which is why I bought it. Attempted to contact support. Non existent response. Was working as an access point until I upgraded the firmware. Now when you attempt to assign it a static IP it then begins to send DHCP out and shuts the network down. I have rated it like I did as it was bought to be an access point and was stated that it could do this. As a router and you don’t need anything special maybe.
