POCKETALK S2 Plus Two-Way Translator - HIPAA/GDPR/ISO Certified Security

This has been an excellent device for myself and other school administrators in an environment which we have over 80% Hispanic students and families even though we have staff members that are bilingual sometimes they are busy and cannot translate for us. This has been 100% full proof and I have been using it for about five months now it really helps me to also allow my non-speaking Hispanic parents the whole conversations without people translating into English for me while I’m in a meeting, they can just speak in their native language and I can interject when I need to speak.

I am blind and I bought this device to interact with Spanish-speaking floor installers doing work in my home. When one team came to do some hardwood flooring, I did not yet have this device and greatly struggled to interact with the workers. After I bought it, the second team came and it was absolutely spectacular! I did need my son to help me do the setup because I could not see the screen, but it only took a moment and was very simple, and afterwards just pressing a single button let me interact with the selected language very easily and very accurately with other people speaking a language different from my own. This product would be even better if it could be independently set up by a blind person, like simply dictating by holding the command button and telling it which language you want to translate. That seems to be a simple concept, and should be easily doable by the manufacturer. Still, I do give this thing a very high score because it worked so well. It is very easy to charge like every other USB -C device, the sound quality is excellent and very loud when you want it to be, and it translates quite a few languages… I found this device to be very impressive.

Pocketalk S2 Plus – Business. Product seems to work extremely well when connected to my WiFi. When connected to the included Data Plan, it was a little slower to understand and respond at least in my area (southern CA, USA), which to be honest is not the best for reception. The big test will be when I visit Japan in April, but I have every confidence it will work. I also tested the camera / photo translation portion of the device worked very well. Tests were only done for English / Japanese translations. I will make a note of a small issue that did get resolved regarding the length of the Data plan. That is, when I received the item, I noticed the box stated e-SIM 2 year. I was concerned because I paid for the 5 year plan. After contacting the seller (and the manuf.) I was satisfied that it was going to be the 5 year plan. I charged the device and immediately checked the Date Plan in the setting which confirmed that the embedded global SIM was good until 4:22pm on 03-01-2031 (5 years) as advertised.

We used the translator in Japan in restaurants and at multiple tourist areas where English was not spoken. We were able to hold a conversation and the translations were accurate. We previously used Google translate which worked well but was cumbersome when trying to hold a conversation. Pocketalk is easy to use and the sound quality is excellent. We will be traveling to other parts of Asia and are looking forward to seeing how well it functions with the different languages.

Not really. I was hoping that the document translator part would send the translated doc or print but it doesn’t. Also, I think English to the other language was fine but when the other person speaks in their language it doesn’t translate right to English if they talk fast at all.

This is really bad, you can only use it in places where you have internet. It work like the translator on your phone, it sucks for the price. Don’t buy it, use your phone you’ll have better luck.

This is by far the best purchase you will make if you are going to a country you don’t speak its language. Took ours to Japan and it made the trip a breeze being able to communicate. Easy to use, quick transition, 99% accurate and small enough to carry in your pocket. You can use it to translate a picture/menu as well.

Excellent product which is a real asset when abroad or dealing with non english speaking people at home.
