Perfect Fit on Optimax
This was a perfect fit for my mercury OptiMax. Wiring is: Brown with white stripes is for the sender goes to the S terminal. Purple is for the key switched power goes to the I terminal. And black goes to ground the G terminal. Blue is dash lighting (spade terminal). Hope this helps. And you may need to adjust the calibration. Motor trimmed all the way down should show fully down on guage. If you need to adjust, sender unit is on port (left) side of the engine. You have to tilt the motor up to access it (round disk about the diameter of a quarter). Loosen the 2 bolts holding it on and adjust as required. After each adjustment you have to trim the motor all the way down and check the guage. Repeat till it is correct.

Cheap and reliable
Some people complain about this cheap gauges but I have mine for over 4 years and still works fine. Great for cheap restoration.

Doesn't work for my Outboard (Honda).
Note: This review isn't of the instrument per-se, but rather the listing on Amazon, which IMO is lacking in information and arguably also a little deceptive. The description gives no indication that this part number (65504P) is only for certain outboard motors, nor does it provide a link to be able to confirm the correct part number. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for Honda outboards, so I have to return it and order the correct gauge. In order to determine the correct part number, I had to go to the Sierra website and search their product catalog. Also, I discovered that Sierra doesn't actually manufacture the gauges. They are manufactured by an Indian company called Veethree (not sure where because the packaging give no indication).

Check gauges when you receive them
Bought this gauge for my boat and when I got around to install and wire everything in, the gauge wasn’t working. As I investigated why it wasn’t working, the face plate was bent on the top and bottom causing the middle to push up and hold the needle from moving. Had to order a new one since I waited too long to install and was out of the return window.
