This drive does not come with hardware based encryption (built into the drive itself). But you can look up a software based encryption option that works for you (encrypted folders/volume or third party software). Just look up "How do I encrypt my USB drive for _____" specifying your preferred Operating System(s). Now, SanDisk may have included a software based solution option with the drive, but I don't recall. Either way, any Drive can be encrypted and there are lots of options. Google would be the best place to find one that works for you.

has anyone who has had heat problems had any reliability issues with this drive? and, is the marketed 150mb read speed accurate?

So far it works great and read speed is consistent (150MB/s). 1 min 20s for 10GB. Write speed drops considerably as it gets hot after ~30 seconds from 60MB/s to 10..20MB/s. It takes about 10 min to write 10GB.

Does this work with iPad Pro?

Check your iPad pro's connector. If you have one of the newer iPad Pro's with a USB-C port (this would be starting with the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9"), it WILL indeed work. If you have an older iPad or an iPad that uses a lightning connector, it will not work. I hope this helps! -- Ray

Works fine. Just plug usb c into phone and use Samsung file manager to copy fines from phone to drive or vice versa. Be sure you eject before removing.
