Cool little green lantern fob
In brightest day, in darkest night, this item's not extremely bright. But lest you leave this page in spite, please read the rest of what I write. I've used strontium aluminate-based glow powders before, so I had reasonable expectations of this product. It glows much more brightly and longer than the older zinc sulfide GITD stuff. However, it's not like this is going to illuminate like the Phial of Galadriel. It is bright enough to locate your keys (or whatever item you attach this to) in a dark environment, once your eyes have adjusted to night vision. If you want something brighter, you could look at something like the Xodus Innovations BL300 Glowing LED Key Chain Fob . In my opinion, tritium vials are not sufficiently brighter compared to this item to justify the higher cost, but they do have the advantage of not having to charge the phosphor with light in order to glow (that's what the tritium does). Also, the tritium decays over time, reducing the glow's intensity (the half life is about 12 years). So if you attach this to an item that is exposed to light during the day, you'll be able to find it at night - again, *after* your eyes have accommodated to the dark.

Don't buy this.
As many other reviewers have mentioned this thing does not glow very well at all. I have an Aura Glow keychain and another one I found on an online auction site that are vastly superior. This thing looks cool but even if you blast it with light it will glow strongly for 3-4 minutes and then quickly fade over the next hour or two. This chargeable glowing material works a lot better when there is more of it. Don't buy this though. Either go with tritium or go to that auction site and try to find the other ones.

Overpriced but eh, it's cool.
Was cool for a while. Bought and forgot about it. Definitely glows in the dark for a good hour or so after a decent amount of exposure -- not as long as I thought it would though. Overpriced in my opinion.

Rapid decline in luminescence
So far, the glow time isn't nearly enough. I left it in the kitchen under fluorescent light all day. Once I brought it into a dark room it maybe gave off any significant light for 30 minutes. By significant, I mean I could find it in a dark room without any problem. So I blasted it with a 300 lumen streamlight for a few minutes. It really lit up after that, but again, the fall off in luminescence was rapid. Too bad, because it's a cool gadget.

Like others have said
Like others have said, not very bright on its own, but put it under a light source for a few seconds and it is VERY bright and easy to see. Not at all like the tritium that I have seen and used before on other applications.

Some people expect to much.
I love this fob a lot! Those that say it doesn't glow for very long are expecting to much. If you left it in the Arizona Sun for 3 hours how long do you think it would glow? It's not a flash light. I live in AZ and can agree with this reviewer. It doesn't glow brightly that long. It's a simple device that helps you find your keys in low light situations. On some occasions it doesn't glow very brightly but enough where I can see it in low light or very dark places. It's been on my key ring for over a year and it's held up very well. Hasn't bent or suffered any scratches. Remember it's not flashlight or that it will glow for hours if you leave it in the Sun. But if you're looking for your keys in the dark it will help.

NOT TRITIUM!
My fault for not reading the description thoroughly. This item does not contain tritium. The one STAR is because the quality of construction is average, and the claim 12 hours of glow time is extremely generous. In my experience it is marginally better than glow-in-the-dark items you'd buy at the dollar store. No value here.
