What do my readings mean?

Optimal nutritional ketosis is between 1.0 and 2.0 mmol/L and is usually the goal for most people.

How long does it take to get into ketosis?

It's not unusual to take 2-4 weeks or longer the first time. Experienced keto dieters can reenter ketosis in 1-2 days with fasting and exercise.

What are the best times to test my ketosis?

Test in the morning on an empty stomach for lowest ketone levels. Consistent timing ensures accurate comparisons. Ketone levels rise after high-fat meals or exercise. Test after trying new foods to assess impact on ketones.

I tested back to back but my readings are different, why?

Home meters replicate lab results with acceptable variance. Ketone measurement at low levels (below 1.0 mmol/L) may vary by +/- 0.2 mmol/L in back-to-back tests.
