This is such a great combination. I have been adding this to my protein drink in the morning for the past 5 years and I appreciate how healthy my digestion is and that my immune system also gets the support it needs. Powder is mild tasting.

I'm sensitive to prebiotic/probiotics and have an ischemic bowel (not a good thing) so I add this to my greens smoothie. Really makes me gassy but it also keeps my guts moving!

I've spent at least 30 years trying to find a probiotic that agrees with me. Even the probiotic designed for my blood type felt wrong. Soil based organisms felt wrong. Too many strains of different bacteria in most pills felt wrong. Some probiotics actually gave me gas and bloat, indigestion and a few contained gluten. Some gave me constipation, and that is the worst feeling in the world when trying to heal my gut.... I had problems with some probiotics that made me feel depressed or some that made me feel anxious. There IS a gut-brain connection and often I'd have more mental issues with probiotics than digestive. I tried the "pearls"....probiotics that were refrigerated, ones that weren't, some that were super expensive, and still I couldn't find any probiotic to take every day that didn't eventually give me problems. I'm someone who likes to get food based nutrition. I love using Host Defense mushroom supplements. Lately I've been buying their powdered mushrooms like cordyceps, lions mane, as they mix well in smoothies and seem like I'm just eating food rather than supplementing with chemicals made in a lab. Every time Host Defense makes a new product that is in powdered form, I'm very likely to want to try it...At least one container to see if I like it. So I like the mushroom powders in the container better than their liquid or pills...and when I saw this probiotic made from mushrooms and natural ingredients, I was anxious to try it. I'm probably taking this probiotic for two weeks. I saw benefits after a few days. It's a tasty formula if mixed in plain water, but I add it to my protein shake...I tsp every morning. What I noticed. I have a BM every morning consistently...Volume is larger than before I don't have to strain. I honestly feel the beneficial bacteria in this formula are doing something very positive for me...and maybe it's because it's made from food and not chemicals and I feel positive my body is absorbing the good bacteria. No bloat, no gas, easy bowel movements, feeling regular, no more random constipation...no mood swings. Feeling so MUCH better since I started taking this.

I've been taking this to help my digestive system recover from chronic inflammation over the last few months. After fixing the problem, I needed something gentle to restore the microbiome of my gut. This stuff has a very mild earthy flavor and easily mixes into most meals without overpowering their taste. Does NOT mix with liquids very well (learned that the hard way when I had to swallow a gelatinous mushroom chunk in my morning coffee... hind sight says yes, duh, of course it doesn't dissolve, but I'm not a fully functioning human first thing in the morning.) This stuff seems to work well as my digestive system is slowly getting back to normal; I don't get bloated or gassy after eating it, and I have peace of mind knowing I'm consuming something natural and good for my system. I do recommend Host Defense and their products.

I got this product for my wife because she was on antibiotics recently and wanted to help restore her gut biome. I've gotten host defense products before and am aware of how effective they are and I love the company and everything they stand for, but due to this trust I neglected to read the ingredients ... and when I got the package I unfortunately discovered that this product contains maltodextrin ... which my wife can't have as a diabetic ... so that was unfortunate. I wish they would make a formula that has like organic stevia which lowers sugar levels slightly rather than a research chemical that spikes sugar by the same rate as table sugar. We're still going to try it and see how it reacts because diabetics can have a very small amount of maltodextrin, but I will not be getting this product again because it contains maltodextrin and diabetics really ought to avoid it. I love everything else from Host Defense though, great company ... just that we wish more products had diabetic friendly ingredients and that the formula designers were more mindful of diabetes and ingredients which spike sugar levels since these are health products and the demand for them is from those who are seeking better health. If you don't have diabetes, then the ingredients are fine; I guess bodybuilders use it... but if you do have diabetes, you might wanna test your sugar after consuming this at various intervals to make sure that the maltodextrin content is not spiking your levels, everyone's body is different. I just wish they'd use stevia instead of maltodextrin... great stuff otherwise.

I really hate that this contains a glucose; maltodextrin can affect gut health & blood sugar. I expected better considering its a Stamets product . The taste is not good either. It's like badly smoked beef jerky gone by and it's so over powering I can't add it to foods. So disappointed.
