The DCBL772B is the tool only version of this model. You may also find the kit (including battery and charger) using the model number DCBL772X1.

will this work with my 40 volt batteries?

No, it may spin the motor but it may burn the windings. If you by the 60V max battery for it that battery will work on all 40V and 20V tools.

How do you take it apart?

If by "take it apart" you mean how to remove the black cone out in front, look for two raised sections on opposite sides of the cone near the clear plastic. You must depress the two small rectangular areas in each section simultaneously to release the black cone from the clear plastic part of the unit. Not easy! Good luck!
