Can this be use on upholstery fabric?

The fabric would have to be washable, but I would check with where you got the fabric and then see if you can find out at the Rit website.

Can this be used in top load washing machines for colors to stay longer on clothes. If so how much, can i still add to cold water

I have a top load washer and add the whole bottle of dye + whole bottle of fixative. I use only the water temp suggested on label. When I am done dying I run the washer with old towels and 1 cup oxy detergent with bleach to clean the tub. I then do a second rise and spin only. I dye faded navy and black cotton shorts and last time dyed light grey towel with hot pink dye and they came out the muted color I wanted of pink. Good luck, I have been dying clothes in the washer for years and it always best to wash those items by themselves the 1st time after dyed in case there is a reside of dye left in the fabric. The hot pink did turn the old towels a pink shade, so I was glad I did that.

I bought a new wool rug. when i went to steam clean it, the dyes started coming up. can i use this product to fix the dyes on my wool rug?

If the dyes started to run with steam cleaning, then I would hesitate putting any liquid on the rug. If you think the rug is already damaged by the steam, it wouldn't hurt to try a small spot to see if the fixative can help salvage it. Sorry, that's the best I can come up with for you.

The final instructions say "wash in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse and dry". Can I use washing machine with warm water and dryer for this?

I used my washing machine and then dryer for the final steps. Turned out fine.
