Our 50 States: A Family Adventure Across America [Cheney, Lynne, Glasser, Robin Preiss] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Our 50 States: A Family Adventure Across America Review: Exceptional for both children and adults - I love the very creative design layout where so much illustrated content can be integrated into a single page for each of the states. It would be an excellent book for new arrivals in the U.S. One suggestion to improve ease of reading in an eBook is to ensure the text in the bottom border wrap around text box can be read without turning the ebook upside down. That is, the way it is done for California should become the standard for all the states. The current upside down text in the bottom border box is extremely inconvenient to read in an ebook format. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it. Review: Packed full of information, love it for my geography classroom - I just ordered a bunch more of these for my classroom as it's a favorite go-to book for my students when we are looking up facts about the USA. So much info is packed on each page. State history, famous people and places, major historical events, landmarks, and the illustrations are adorable too. Very well planned out and visually appealing for my students.

Must read for Children and good info for adults
This is an excellent book for the children. The contents for each state has very informative information for the children to learn about that state and each state has a statement or two that most adults may not know of their own home state. Easy to follow and has presented historical information about that state which we all should review and reflect on. Excellent gift for grandchildren, neighbor's children , charity or friends children's.

Cute characters, good reinforcement
Bought this as a supplement to my ten year old's US geography study. Cute illustrations, interesting tidbits, and of course, a dog. (A dog or a horse makes every subject more "doable" for my daughter!) It's also helpful that the book is laid out chronologically instead of by region. Has made it much easier to explain the timing of each state's ratification.

This is a beautiful child's book..................
I love Lynne Cheney's children's books and buy them for the youngsters in my life because I find them easy and fun to read. I like the illustrations and the quality of the books. What I enjoy most about her books is they are patriotic. Children are no longer taught about the real history of America in school, how much we have sacrificed for others throughout the world, or how great Americans have given their lives since the 1760s so we can live under the most unique Constitution in the world. Parents must educate their children and instill patriotism, pride, and gratefulness in them for what we have and for the people who made all this possible. I highly recommend Lynne Cheney's apolitical books for children as a place to start teaching them about America's past and present. Thank you.

MY KID WON'T STOP READING THIS BOOK!
I ordered this book on the recommendation of someone on our local homeschool chat forum. WOW! What a great book! My 8 year old has not put it down since it arrived. It went in the car with us, to the store, even to a meal at a restaurant, bed time you name it. He found the information very interesting and kept finding things we NEED to see on a family vacation. I think the illustrations are fun and the author chose a variety of facts to share that interested all members of our family.

Added Bonus
I purchased this for my 8 year-old grandson for Christmas. He is fortunate to be able to travel with his parents around the United States. When I received this book, I was looking through it and the idea came to me to place sticky notes on each page that I had a connection with and write down what the connection was. I am descended from families that came here in the 1700's and were active politically in the formation of this great country, so each sticky note is another part of history of the states where I placed the notes. I would suggest this as a great gift for grandparents to give to their grandchildren because you can give them additional history that relates personally to them. A great way to learn about the U.S.

Great little history book
Great little book for children and adults alike. The pages are a bit busy, but crammed full of snippets of history. We've given away at least five as gifts. It's kinda like Trivial Pursuit for history!
