Excellent quality pan...but what were they thinking when they designed the handle.
An excellent versatile pan with great heat distribution and easy to clean. It's taken a few uses to get familiar with the taller sided pan as I am in the habit of using my fingers to turn items being cooked...wrists are not heat resistant! It is not a non stick pan but with correct heat and oil it is possible to cook anything from a fried egg to risotto to sauces which you cannot do with a cast iron pan unless you want to re-season it after every use. It does not hold the heat the way a thick cast iron pan does which in balance I would list as a positive. As some reviewers have commented the handle is quite frankly peculiar. It is possible to find comfortable purchase to lift the pan but if any attempt to tip the contents from the pan are made the 2 upper edges of the handle become quite uncomfortable in the hand. Actually the handle is more comfortable to hold when the pan is upturned but that sort of makes it impractical to use! I have got in the habit of wrapping a chefs cloth around the handle to counter the discomfort (and probably wise as it is a steel handle and sometimes has just been in the oven... it is a lesson I have previously only needed to learn once to remember). Also the pan exterior quickly developed a golden bronze hue to it which is quite eye pleasing. 10/06/24 After many months of regular use I have amended my review to the full five stars. The initial discomfort has abated as I have grown accustom to the handle. In fact I like this pan so much I also purchased the 20cm pan.

My new favourite
I've been after this pan for a long time. It certainly did not disappoint. Its a beautiful good sturdy pan that isn't too heavy and the curvature around the base is ideal for stopping sauces from catching in the sides. It's great for frying meat and fish. I've literally been using it for nearly everything. It's handle is a comfortable grip (even for my small hands), and it's so easy to clean. It arrived on time and in good protective packaging. Would definitely recommend

Best of British.
Amazing pan. Does everything. Great heat spread. Fantastic for curries. No worries of the food spilling over the sides. Very well made. Will last a lifetime.

Great quality all-rounder
Excellent pan. Our induction hob zones are sized for a 24cm frying pan and such a pan was too small / shallow when stir frying and for many other recipes. This SG chef's pan provided an excellent solution and we now cook almost everything in it. You have more space / volume to work with and the high sides lead to less spitting onto outside surfaces. Heats up quickly and is easy to clean. Note for storage purposes that the handle is quite a bit taller than the top of the pan. The price swings around quite a lot. FWIW we paid £55 for the 24cm in April '24; it's now £90 and JL want £112.50, so perhaps set a price alert on 3camels. Will be buying more Samuel Groves!

Decent pan
Decent Pan, It's fairly heavy. Will last a life-time if cared for. Works well on my Bosch induction hob. Only downside is the handle is awful to use. My wrist felt strained. Had to learn how to use it so the food would not stick as I wanted to depart from non-stick pans. I mainly use rice bran oil. Spread oil round pan so its equally coated (I use a small piece of kitchen towel), add a little more oil than you would a non-stick pan. Heat the oil on medium-high heat, keep a watchful eye, as the oil begins to smoke turn the heat down to medium, wait for a minute or two then cook. I had to order a 3rd party lid for this pan as I couldn't find one in the manufacturers catalogue. Apart from the poor handle design its a decent pan. Pricey but decent. Hope this helps.

Amazing but with 1 caution...
I have fallen in love with Samuel Groves cookware, especially their stainless steel and cast iron range. I now have a few pieces and will eventually add to them. Being new to using high end cookware it takes time to get cooking with it correctly, and here is the 1 caution...prepare and plan your meals ahead of time take ingredients out of cold fridge and freezer and bring to room temp otherwise considerable sticking occurs. Use lower heat than used to and be prepared they might tarnish a slight blue tint inside if heat is too high. Its a steep learning curve. This pan is quite heavy but simply beautiful to hold and work with. Brings a smile when using long may it continue. Please read all instructions before use and thoroughly wash and dry after cooled down. Thank you

So far excellent
Delivered in nice box (kept!). Sturdy pan. Excellent quality feel. Given pans seem to go to pan heaven I do not know what to expect in way of life expectancy. But it feels good and a deliberate choice away from non-stick which peel and must ingest. It (instructions?) also made me change to mid/low gas heat, to avoid burning food and so saves gas also (3 layer metal etc). Cooking well and comes up good after a clean. No more non-stick for me.

Incredible
Very well made saucier/chefs pan, heavy base and oven safe, it does the role of many different pans, its non stick with oil and at the right temperature, big enough to comfortably feed a family of four with
