The BEST vanilla vegan protein powder on the market
I meant to write this review sooner so Owyn, please forgive me :) I found out about Owyn through one of their influencer partnerships (Serena Kerrigan what's good) advertising their on the go protein shakes. I'm not a huge fan, I like making my own at home. What I did love is that it was free of the top 8 allergens, one being NUTS! I have a moderate nut allergy and the amount of protein bars and shakes that have nuts/nut butters etc is probably 95% of them. I started buying their delicious protein bars without being scared of getting an allergic reaction or not reading the label correctly. I love what the brand is doing and I will continue to support them! Onto the powder, I loved the protein bars so much and the protein powder had very similar ingredients. The powder is very smooth, easy to dissolve and blend with and I have a few pointers on getting the perfect protein shake. One thing, I don't love monk fruit extract (used to sweeten) and notice it just has a VERY strong taste and one that I personally think is a bit strong. My recipe combats that so it isn't overpowering. The ingredients are clean and I feel confident using their brand. The vanilla flavor is very versatile: bake, shakes, oatmeal etc. I like my shakes not too sweet and they need be a color I can stand looking at (no more weird brown or gray shakes for me... I find that it's hard for me to want to drink them lol!) Berry shake (Go-to, doesn't taste overly sweet and isn't overly "milky" if you will, I prefer to use majority water to cut the excess calories) 2 scoops protein powder 1- 1 1/2 cup of water (more or less depending on how much shake you want) 1/4 cup milk (I use oat) 1 1/2 cups of frozen raspberries 1/2 a banana (if you need the added calories/vitamins/fullness) 4-5 ice cubes Green smoothie (fancy, easy way to get your greens in. I do feel like the powder overpowers this one so the vanilla/monk fruit taste is much stronger than the berry one) 2 scoops protein powder 1 - 1 1/2 cups water 1/4 cup of milk 1 cup of frozen mango 1 cup of spinach 1/2 banana (if you want) 3-5 ice cubes Blend and enjoy and keep supporting Owyn! I do try to buy from the website or from local retailers vs Amazon and whole foods when I can.

It's Healthy and Good!
I use this 1 scoop in the AM in my Breakfast smoothie and 1 scoop in the PM as a Pudding Snack to take my meds with. I don't think it has the perfect flavor all by itself but it is not bad at all and I am not complaining when I get so much good out of using it. It definitely can leave a after taste but I do not find it too hard to handle. I have tried a few others and this is easy to mix, is definitely tastier than most and is a decent price for a natural and healthy protein powder. I enjoy both the chocolate and Vanilla and buy both so I can trade them out to have variety. The way I handle the vitamin taste is to make up recipes for things I would normally crave like Pineapple upside down cake or chocolate brownies!!! I add 1 scoop of either chocolate or vanilla to 8 oz of almond or coconut milk and add 1/2 Avocado (better than banana with more omega, less sugars more nutrients and thickens beautifully if you like spoonfuls of goodness rather than drinking breakfast) and some kale or spinach to bump up the nutrient value, without changing the taste. Then, along with that I use a chosen flavor additive or 2 from the list and think about what spices or sweeteners would bring out the desired flavor I most want. Pumpkin Puree , Frozem Berries or Peacehes/Pineapple/Mango/ Papaya, (to get it icy cold without ice) Ground Oatmeal. Almond/ Other Nut Butter, Maple Syrup or Honey, Cacao Nibs, Caramel/Mint/Other flavorings, chopped Nuts, dried Figs, Cinnamon/other spices, chia seeds, etc. And, for my PM meds I make a pudding with 1 scoop of protein mix and 2 TBSP of Almond/Coconut Milk, with or without flavor additives. One of my favorites is Vanilla with mint flavoring and cacao nibs (like a mint chocolate ice cream) or Chocolate with Almond Butter and Cacao Nibs for a Reesces Peanut Butter Cup affect. I am happily having fun using this wonderful protein mix! I think the price is fair on the vanilla for sure but am not exactly sure why we are being gouged for chocolate flavoring. I may end up just getting vanilla and adding my own cocoa since it seems to keep going up in price.

Actual volume of product in container.
It's a good and tasty product that I've used for a long time but be aware that the product (for both sizes) takes up about half the volume of the container. I don't care how much "settling" occurs or how their packaging equipment is designed, it seems wasteful and possibly deceptive.

Made me violently ill twice DO NOT BUY
I ordered these for years and one case I purchase made me so sick twice- I called to see if I could send them back and they said they couldnโt do anything except give me a coupon because I was outside of the return window. Such a shame they could not handle the situation better I will never buy OWYN again and will be sure to tell my family and friends to not purchase OWYN again

I was pleasantly surprised
I read the reviews after I got my order ๐ซฃyesterday. Itโs sweet.. which was unexpected. I made it in a regular cup with 8 oz of milk (stirred with a fork) it has a slight thickness to it alone but havenโt tried it with fruit yet. Itโs easy to clean with 20 grams of protein to keep you fuller longer depending what you eat with it. Itโs easy to use and sometimes I add two shots of decaf and itโs like a Starbucks latte๐ค๐พ. I will be getting this from now on!๐ฅฐIt smells heavenly to me .. like a hint of maple syrup or birthday cake and tasted delicious!! Itโs not gritty and has no after taste. My teens liked it as well which is shocking lol. The container was pretty full. I have had no digestive issues.

Only good for use in blended smoothies
I wanted an option for protein powder that was free from artificial sweeteners (they tend to make me tired), so I thought I'd give this stuff a try. I quickly found out that although it's high quality in terms of the ingredients and that it certainly tastes good, it has a key weakness: it's INCREDIBLY chalky when just mixed in with milk or water. That texture just kills any good flavor and ingredient quality this stuff has. I was certainly disappointed, but when I tried it in smoothies, the chalkiness either fades somewhat or at least blends in since smoothies are textured anyway. Plus it does add some vanilla flavor to the smoothie, which is a welcome thing. I'll certainly keep buying this stuff since it tastes good, it's got no artificial sweeteners and I only intend to use it in smoothies a few times a week (getting most of my protein from food anyway). However, at least in my opinion, it's definitely a one-trick pony due to the chalkiness it exhibits when mixed with simple liquids.

My Favorite Vegan Protein
After cycling through many different protein brands in the pursuit of the best balance of cost and taste, this seems to be the best option. I used to get Owyn, and then try another brand just to keep my options open, but I'd always regret it and wish I had just stuck with Owyn. One of the main reasons I prefer this brand is because of the simplicity. First, I prefer a blend of proteins rather than just one. It seems like most brands just use pea protein, but Owyn adds in some pumpkin and chia to get a bit more nutritional variety in there. Although some people freak out about cane sugar, I'd rather have a protein with a small dose of cane sugar, whose effects are well studied, versus low calorie, "natural" sweeteners, like stevia, which still don't seem to have a wealth of long-term studies regarding their effects on health. I appreciate the added greens and probiotics, although frankly I'm not buying the product for that purpose. The taste and texture is great. It blends quite smooth, although you have to stir more than you may need to with some whey proteins. The hardcore whey guys always seem to complain about vegan powders being "chalky", but I'm pretty sure that's just the nature of pea protein, and honestly, I prefer the slightly chalky texture over the gummy, almost sticky, texture of whey protein. Thankfully, the added greens don't affect the taste or smell, like some other brands. You'll notice that the vanilla has a faint green tint to it though, so don't expect it to be snow white. It's just sweet enough to drink on its own with water or milk; I'd prefer just a little bit more, but that's probably better for me anyways. I've found this is also one of the best protein powders for baking and making protein bars, due to it's smooth texture. Unlike whey, it won't make your homemade protein bars sticky or gummy. While the vanilla is solid, I really like the dark chocolate! It's the first protein I've ever had that actually merits the title "dark" chocolate, and not just regular old milk chocolate. Unfortunately, the cost of the chocolate is ridiculous here on Amazon, so I only get the vanilla here, while relying on stores to find the dark chocolate at a lower cost.

Be Sure You Order the Correct Powder
This protein powder (OWYN Only What You Need Dairy Free Protein Powder with 20g Protein, Probiotics, Superfoods Greens, Pea, Chia and Pumpkin Seed Blend (Smooth Vanilla)) has a funky taste. It tastes and smells more like butterscotch than vanilla. I like OWYN's premixed shakes and I decided to try this powder. This first issue is that multiple powders, which are separate products, are being sold under one listing. This is incorrect and possibly an attempt to game the ratings. Because products are listed as variations, I accidentally bought the wrong powder. This powder mixes well. The taste isn't awful, it's just strange. Many nutritionists question the nutritional value of adding powdered greens and superfoods to your diet. While I won't buy this powder again I willl try a different type and try see if that's better. I will continue to buy OWYN's premixed shakes.
