Makes absolutely fantastic bread every single time. And a bit of nostalgia from my home village too.

Good quality brand bread flour
Heygates flour brand always the best. My favourite. I already tried the french bread flour, the brown flour... Im looking forward to try this white bread flour, sure wouldn't be disappointed.

Canโt fault it
I bought this flour originally as due to the Corona Virus I was struggling to find any strong flour in any of my local supermarkets ... It was a gamble buying 16 Kilos .. but I am now on my 3rd Bag and wonโt use anything else .. it makes beautiful soft white bread with that distinctive taste you get with flour direct from a mill rather than factory processed .. and it makes amazing toast ... I have not had one single failed loaf with this flour in my old Panasonic bread maker .. I highly recommend this flour and I donโt know why people give 1 star reviews for problems with the packaging that would have been damaged in transit and not the fault of the supplier .. My last two bags have been delivered in the original paper sack packed inside the strongest purpose made plastic bag I have ever seen .. donโt be put off by those 1 star reviews .. you will me missing out on a wonderful product ..

Classic traditional unbleached bread flour.
With the lockdown I returned to breadmaking after a break of maybe 30 years. I chose this flour because Heygates was well known to me - indeed I used to work there during my school holidays 60 years ago!! Green flour is ground from fresh wheat and has a less oxidised nature than flours made from older wheats. This is thought to produce better tasting bread. So far with this flour I have made white loaves and rolls, olive ciabatta, oat and seed bread, and sultana and raisin fruit loaves. All have been very successful and tasty. The flour is unbleached so you don't get dazzling white bread and I only use dried yeast so it is harder to make bread that rises miles and is soft and fluffy. There are no improvers or added gluten in this flour which would aid in producing commercial style breads but it makes traditional bread which tastes like bread tasted when I was a youngster. There are many flours available now to home bakers but I recommend this one to those who want to make traditional tasty bread.

Essentially a commercial flour, poorly packaged
The vitamin C (ascorbic acid) additive in this flour absolutely supercharges it! The rise and oven spring you get is incredible; even my sourdough starter was bubbling out of the jar making its bid for escape! For an amateur baker, it's a lovely flour to handle and work with but ultimately unsatisfying. The results are very much like commercially-bought bread. Granted, I have only made one loaf with it so far - 100% white - just to test it. From here on out, I shall be doctoring the flour with heavy quantities of wholewheat, buckwheat, rye and whatever else I can get my hands on. My main negative is that the paper sack broke in transit probably due to the fact that the box it is shipped in is too big, allowing lots of movement. In summary, fun to bake with - results pretty much guaranteed. My wife really likes the taste too, so it will definitely suit some people. I'm also grateful for the reasonable pricing and availability in these difficult times. Don't expect artisan loaf quality and flavour however.

Good product.
Used previously so we know it's a good product. Only gripe is that we were advised of delivery between 10-11 Feb and came on 5 Feb. We were away from home until 6th so package left out all night.
