Huge, washable straws for milkshakes/chunky protein shakes
I drink a protein shake or yogurt blended with fruit almost every day. I use a banana to sweeten them since I don't want to use sugar. I kept having problems with the banana chunks getting stuck in the straws. After ordering some other straws that claimed to be for milkshakes, but weren't any larger than standard, I ordered these. These are actually a little larger than I need, but they work great without having to constantly clear out the straw. I also love that they are sturdy enough to be washed and reused.

A new cake decorating tool.
I saw a video on youtube on how to stack big cakes or cakes taller than two layers and the lady used these instead of plastic or wood skewers.(Of course, you use thin cake boards in between and these go under the boards). I tried it and they do work to keep the weight of the top layers from crushing the lower layer(s). They are so much easier to measure and cut than plastic or wood skewers. The only disadvantage I found is that you have to use a lot more of these straws than you would a sturdier material so, when cutting, there are a lot more things to pull out. I think I will continue using them because, the time I save cutting during assembling (just a snip with ordinary scissors) is much greater than the time I spend removing them as I cut.Note: these straws are short and stubby, ordinary straws won't work the same. You still have to use at least one wood dowel to stabilize the cake for transporting.

Great straws.
I'm a cake decorator and I use these straws as supports when stacking my cakes. They work very well and are very economical. The straws aren't very tall but are good heights for cakes. Not too much waste when trimmed. Delivery takes a while so I would recommend that you place your order well in advance.

short straws, lonnngggg wait
they took almost a month to come, which was predicted by Amazon, but i guess i didn't look carefully enough because it seemed like a long time; based on the packaging they came from thailand, which seems inefficient to me, and frankly i'm not sure i truset that they're not loaded up with BPA. the straws, unlike the shipping time, are about six inches long, so barely long enough for a fairly short glass, and not long enough for many travel contrainers. they're cheap, so it's not a huge deal, but i wouldn't do it over again if given the opportunity.

Bubble Straw--fine but short
I guess it was too good to be true. The straws are fine but are short so they wouldn't work in a typical tall glass. They'd be fine in a short glass. On the other hand, they are an amazingly good price.

Short Straws (Not pictured)
I received clear straws with different colors stripes on the side, nothing like the picture. The color does not matter to me though. However, the straws are so short at 5 inches long, they are not even useable in a regular water glass. You probably have to use them with a tea cup or short glass. I feel like the seller hand cut each straw so that the 50 pieces could fit into the shipping envelope, which was 6 inches tall. The edges of the straw are not "clean cut" either, which also tells me it was cut by hand and not machine. Useless straws. You get what you pay for.

Exactly what I wanted!
I make custom cakes for birthdays and other special occasions, and for years, have been using wooden dowels (sold in arts and crafts stores) to provide internal support to tiered cakes. Then one day I was watching Duff Goldman working on a cake on his show "Ace of Cakes", and I noticed that he had something that looked like a fat straw that he was using in place of a dowel. After researching a bit, I discovered that he uses boba tea straws instead of dowels. This appealed to me greatly since cutting wooden dowels is such a pain in the neck. I ordered these straws and I LOVE them!I use them for cakes up to three tiers without any worry of compromising the structural integrity of the cake (note: I do use a couple more than wooden dowels, just in case). For cakes with more than three tiers, I use a combination of straws and wooden dowels, just to be safe. I have found that if I strategically place one or two wooden dowels amongst the straws, I rest easier knowing my cake is all the more sturdy!I highly recommend these straws for cake decorating purposes. They are significantly cheaper and so much easier to work with! I am going to search a local Asian food market for them, so maybe I can save on shipping, too!

Great Price - Great Quality!
I volunteered for a fun day at my daughter's kindergarten class and needed these for a craft project. I couldn't find any wide straws for a reasonable price (I was supplying out of pocket for 70 children) at any local stores so of course I checked amazon. I only had a week until I needed them but the price was right and no shipping cost! I was worried they wouldn't come in time but they were here within 3 days! I received clear straws with green stripes and clear straws with red stripes. It was perfect for what we needed and I even have leftovers that we have been using in smoothies. They are sturdy and held up to a bunch of preschoolers/kindergarten kids playing rough with them and work great for drinking smoothies or milkshakes. I will buy these again for sure!
