Tips for adjusting the 2198202 thermostat.
What you might not know when you get the 2198202. First, we found that turning the control knob clockwise makes it colder. Second, we found there are two adjustment screws on this thermostat. Hopefully you don't need either, (we didn't) but should you find you are not in range, there is one screw you'll probably not be able to see without reading glasses and a flashlight. You'll see it as a hole right above the knob shaft, but the screw itself is a tiny slotted (flat head) screw located way down inside. There's almost invisible writing on the silver face of the of the thermostat letting you know that to make your fridge run colder, you turn that screw counter clockwise. A second screw is on bottom of the thermostat and it is a tiny Hex head, 1.5MM size. That one we think will allow you to narrow the range of when it automatically flips on and off. Warning, you can really mess things up with that screw. Only the smallest movement can make a change, and if you screw it all the way in, it does not have a positive stop, but it falls into the cavity of the thermostat, never to be seen again. If you mess with that one, do perhaps only 1/16th of a turn, to see if it narrows or widens your range, and write down what you are doing, and the results. On our older Gibson fridge, it seemed to take some time before the changed adjustments on this thermostat will register, so if you're expecting it to immediately turn off and on as you change temperature settings, you might become confused. Ours takes maybe 3 or so minutes to kick in, so we've had to adjust temperatures minutely, and wait 15 minutes or more to see where it stabilizes. Many fridges also have fans that blow cold air up or down from the freezer compartment to the fridge part. If your fan that moves air between those two compartments is old and freezes up, your freezer will get cold, but your fridge will remain frustratingly warm. This thermostat control can't cure that problem. You'd need to replace that little fan instead. So the amount of cold air passing between fridge and freezer may be adjustable separately on your fridge, with a set of hidden louvers and some other control knob somewhere in our fridge or freezer, which will be independent of this temperature control knob you've just purchased. Most fridges with the fans will have separate settings that allow more or less air to blow into the fridge part, thus allowing you to either freeze your vegetables accidentally in the bottom shelf of your fridge, or just keep them nicely it in range you want. It takes up to 24 hours to completely stabilize your fridge. You'll need two thermometers to verify how to balance that. What is the target range for each compartment? In more modern two door models of fridges (we were told by our repair man) freezer wants to be 0-10 degrees, fridge temp 38-40 degrees (colder toward the bottom), but not below 32 at the bottom. In an older style single door fridge, which has an internal freezer door, the freezer will be about 20 degrees. How long should it cycle? With normal room temperatures 15-20 minutes on, and 15 minutes off. However in an warm room 80 degrees or more, or if you've had the door open on the fridge, you'd be likely to see 30 minutes on 15 minutes off. This thermostat controls the temperature of where ever you put the little bulb tip on the end of the temperature sensor tube. If you have it attached to your freezer walls, it will read differently than if you have it just in your refrigerator compartment. Each fridge is designed to accept a different placement. Start out with putting your tube where your old one was, but be open to the idea that you can adjust the temperature by moving that bulb tip that senses the temperature to a warmer or cooler area of your fridge.

measurement trouble
length of sensor tube was to long. I only needed 12". Also I had to cut off half of the ears because they were also to long by a 1/2". Might want to put more measurements in add.
