Be aware that replacing the keyboard on an Asus PC is a MAJOR OPERATION, requiring the melting of plastic buttons to secure the device and dismantling a myriad of parts to access the keyboard.

WARNING: Be sure you know what you're getting into by installing this keyboard. On the Asus UX501VW, the keyboard is secured by plastic rivets. These will have to be removed carefully (I used a very hot Haako soldering iron with a wide tip though I've also seen a dremel used) and replaced via welding (I melted on fresh material from nylon fishing line). This takes a little practice to ensure the new material properly mixes and welds with the old. The replacement fits perfectly on a 501VW. The product does ship with a backlight panel, however it is red and not white as the OEM keyboard is. This doesn't really matter since the key legends are opaque, making the backlight much less useful. I was willing to roll with this as I touch type and rarely use the backlight feature. Most of the keys are clicky and consistently responsive, though a few aren't quite as tactile as others. My tab key, however, is very squishy and lacks a tactile feel. It generally actuates with the same force as the others but it's difficult to judge whether or not it's actually been pressed. I expected a few glitches given the dirt cheap price and certainly found enough to justify a few stars off. Overall satisfied as it feels much better than my failing OEM keyboard and has extended the life of this old, long out of warranty laptop.

I verified before installation, I took the laptop apart and discovered there are no screws and it is actually glued on plus had plastic rivets by the back lit panel/secure brackets.

It is exactly like the one that came in the laptop when I purchased it. Backlights are also working very well. I can recommend 100% for the same model of laptop users.

Yeah. Not so worth it. Was a pain to install and then figured out this replacement did no work correctly. Junk

This was not a perfect match for my Q501L. The backlight strip has a ribbon cable that is in the wrong spot, and the keyboard ribbon cable has a gap that was not aligned with the screw post in my model. I was able to salvage the backlight strip from the old keyboard but I wish I had just taken the single missing key off the new one and installed it on the old. This model series requires almost full disassembly to remove the keyboard, and there are about 30 awful plastic clip posts that hold it rigidly in place. Half broke when removing the old keyboard, not a fun repair!
