Save money on heating and air conditioning bills
I like this hinge. I replaced the center hinge of 3 hinges of a 1960s exterior wood door with windows that never seemed to get shut. I purchased 2 4-inch hinges but wanted to see if only 1 would work on this midweight door. The tightening settings were not as clear as I hoped, more like a subtle dull thud rather than a click. The door self closes to the frame, but does not shut all the way to latching. It may be due to a slight imbalance from having to retrofit the hinge into a "close but not quite" setting of the old hinge, or perhaps I need to use an additional hinge. Regardless, it's a lot better than the door hanging wide open. It should pay for itself in reduced heating and AC bills in no time.

Works well!
I only installed one of these onto my bedroom doors to allow the doors to swing shut when the cats enter the bedrooms. One was more than sufficient for the lightweight hollow core doors. It has a few settings that you can adjust for how hard the door closes. I set it to the lightest, to allow the cats to be able to push/pull the doors open. It wont close the door all the way at this setting, which is perfect for what I wanted, but you can adjust it higher to fully close the door. My only gripe with them is on the strongest setting, its really difficult to adjust the screw to loosen it up again. The way it works is that you can torque it a few times to increase the door closing strength, or push in the adjustment screw to unlock it and reset it to its lowest setting. Thankfully you pretty much just need to set it once and then never mess with it again. Also, I much prefer this method to some of the other hinge designs that require you to insert a locking pin, which just seems very flimsy to me. Overall the hinges feel like theyre very good quality. It came with a lot of hardware for installation. Value isn't what I would like, as many of the other self closing hinges are much cheaper.

Keeps the Varmints Out!
Works like a charm. It was pretty easy to install and adjust. I live in a household with many pets, one of whom wants to claim his territory by marking everything in his perceived little kingdom. Since I can't reasonably take him for a very, very, very long drive, this was the next best solution. I would occasionally forget to close my door, and ninja kitty took advantage of every possible opportunity to sneak in and stink the joint up. You've seen it before, they back up to something trying to look nonchalant, a rear leg or tail twitch and BAM!!, you've been hit. But I digress. This hinge worked great, in that I can no longer leave my door open. If you need a way to keep subversive little monsters out, treat yourself to a spring loaded door hinge or two. For the record, I have a fairly light interior door and only needed one. My use of floral smelling air fresheners has been dramatically reduced.

Good Quality Hinge
Easy replacement with existing hinge. Screw holes matched perfectly. I suspect this is a standard hole pattern. The hinge has 5 settings to adjust the closing force. If the door is heavy you may need two hinges.

Perfect for my door
Just what I needed had a spring hinge go bad. Got on here ordered it and it fit perfect! Door closes perfectly now. Awesome quality!

Too tight to install
The adjustable tension on this hinge is accomplished with a one-way ratcheting mechanism. Unfortunately for many people, like myself, this apparently comes out of the package pre-tightened and makes it impossible to open the hinge for installation. Even if I had gotten it installed, a one-way tightening ratchet is a bad design for adjusting tension. I took a chance because it’s one of the few 3 1/2in H X 1/4in radius spring hinges available. I was wrong and ended up using a 5/8in radius spring hinge from Everbilt instead.

May need your own screws
Package was open and all the screws were in the bottom of the box. Unsure if it's bad packaging, rough handling, or if this was a previous return. But figured I'd give a heads up that anyone ordering this may need to supply their own screws.

Works Great But Creaks / Noisy
Works great but noisy. Bought 2 for heavy solid wood front door which previously would drift wide open if not fully latched closed. Didn’t need these to slam it shut just easily close it over if not latched. Works great for that. Unfortunately while one hinge is silent, the other one creaks like crazy both opening and closing. Applied oil at top seam, tried to get some powdered graphite in. No matter what the door creaks loudly both opening and closing now. It’s like the Munsters house.

I've tried two other styles of door closers. One was the kind with a rod that you screw into the door, the other was a hinge pin. They're both trash. I used them for my bedroom door, and had to crank them as tight as they could go and it still didn't close the door. Not only that, but they're a real pain to install. The rod style broke within a day, and the hinge pin pops out constantly, forcing me to re-torque it with the included tool. Needless to say, they're both incredibly finicky and unreliable. These hinges, however, work like a charm. The instructions say not to crank it more than 6 turns. Three cranks and the door closes like a charm. I bought two for each door. The price is WELL worth the product. I'm thoroughly impressed!

My door needed 3 hinges to close properly, probably due to the weather strip. These are easy to adjust.
