As described! I followed the instructions and boiled it for 10 min to “open the pores” or to clean it.. have had it in my water bottle for a month while traveling in Mexico. I pour my purified water in my bottle and carry that with me to drink all day. It has not crumbled or broken in any way, as some reviews stated. My water bottle stayed extra clean, the water tasted perfect, and I had no hint of illness, so I’ll say it works great!

These work for me! I recently moved and my current apartment's tap water is horrid, it tastes like straight chlorine! Blah, so I started researching ways to purify my water naturally while keeping it budget friendly. Brita is nice but it takes up fridge space and the filters are costly over the years plus I do not like the plastic containers. Home filtration systems are probably the best bet but they are very costly upfront and require installation and I am not going to waste that on an apartment so the next best thing was carbon block filtering but again they are kinda expensive ($200 +) and take up a lot of counter space! So I wanted a smaller version were I can use my own glass dispenser and these fit the bill. I used 4 sticks in a 2 gal glass water dispenser and the water quality has improved drastically (it's not completely chlorine free but for the price it is perfect)! Follow the instructions and you will be on you way to more natural, purer tasting water. Final goodie point is that they are eco friendly and biodegradable so if you have a garden after there 3 month use you can put them in the soil to add natural carbon back into it.

The water tastes good but there is still some floating charcoal residue that you may have to filter out. Otherwise, it does the trick.

I use these in pitchers in my house to replace plastic filters. They effectively take away some of the taste of tap water and give us fresher cleaner water to drink. I also love to keep one in my water bottle!

This is my first experience with using a charcoal filter. I was skeptical at first but charcoal is used as a filtration material all the time so I gave it a try. I am amazed at how well it works! The flavor of my water has greatly improved. This product is easy to use and plastic free!

I purchased these because the ones that I usually order was out of stock. There was a huge difference in the taste of my water from what I'm used to with the out of stock brand. I allowed it to set for a couple of hours and my water tasted horrible. I even tried to wait 24hrs and it was still disgusting. I couldn't drink it. The other brand makes my water taste clean within an hour. Also, what really made me hesitant about even using them was because they were wrapped in brown wrapping paper. My usual brand charcoal sticks are individually wrapped and sealed in plastic. With these, there was no way to get an idea about the freshness or newness of the product. I am very disappointed I this brand and will never repurchase.

I previously used some sticks from the Black+Blum brand. I don't know the difference in the wood or how they're treated, or maybe I just had a difference from an inferior batch but these Kishu's don't work as well. There is still some lingering gross taste in the tap water at my work that the B+B had no problem eliminating. For reference I use this whole package in a 1 gallon container which sits for over 12 hours before I drink from it, so I may be wrong but I don't think I need to be using more sticks.

So far they seem to be working really well. They remove the chlorine smell from my drinking water. Cannot say if it removes anything else as I cannot test that. Sure hope it would.
