Venom by Donny Cates Vol. 1 (Venom (2018-2021))

Very well written and developed story, kudos to the team, for making the story of venom so interesting and engaging.

Good horror series. A nice change of pace from hero and villain stories. The bond between Eddie and his other is explored in great length, adding new layers to the character of Venom.

The artwork is really cool.

If you like Venom, buy this. If you don’t, Cates gets it. It’s not a departure from what’s happened before, but a welcome addition to this character. This book is also a great starting point for new comers as well. This is Venom at his best (reading wise, they really turn the screws on the character)

Donny does an awesome job with venom. I've loved this run, artwork is amazing, the book is hardcover and nice quality. Only downside is I have to either wait for the next hardcover, or try and track down all past issues to current, my own fault for putting it off!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He's a huge Venom fan and he was so excited to add this to his collection. The book is very sturdy, pretty big in size, and the pages inside look insanely cool! Any Venom fan would love this.

Came in good condition, and was the exact comics I needed to get up to volume 20 of venom (2018) a bit larger than I expected but it's still not overbearing.

Book came in perfect condition. I love the story too. A great read! Venom is the best! Worth getting to add to your collection

Crazy run so far! Cates and co add whole new mythos to the Klyntar. Venom is the lethal protector, but who will protect him?

Absolutely loving these OHC (Oversized Hardcovers) the brilliant minds over at Marvel are producing! And this most recent run of Venom is well deserving of this treatment! The Story: Personally, I haven't kept up with Venom in recent times, but did that affect my enjoyment with this book? Not at all! Not even with all the twists and turns and new developments that happened. It's mainly a self contained story with a hint of references to other series' which do make this story that tad more enjoyable, but aren't necessary to know to get a whole lot of enjoyment out of these 12 issues. Tonaly, the story is definitely on the darker side (also how I like my toast), but this is a great segue into.. ..The Art: Dark and gorgeous and dark! Having so many dark tones every page made it difficult to turn the pages without leaving fingerprints. This only added to the suspense of turning the pages imo. Plus you're going to want to preserve the art because like I said, it's gorgeous! Lots of dark reds, blues and blacks. They all contrast so well together! And if you appreciate composition like I do, you'll get a lot out of the genuinely genius ways the panels are set up. Just oozing and dripping with creativity! The Verdict: It's a fantastic jumping on point for Venom with 2 thoroughly entertaining arcs! And with each issue leaving you with an urge for more, you'll get through this book fairly quickly. But that'll just give you a chance to re-read it, it's that good ;)
