This thing is a beast
I am plotting a new backpacking adventure and decided to go with this Redwing 50 [Lyons Blue]. I love the pockets, the zippers, the size and the shape. I don't really buy for comfort, I buy for utility - but this thing somehow hits both, and then triples down because - it looks cool as the other side of the pillow. One thing I hope Kelty does in the future is add some velcro/hook and loop type items on their bags/systems - that's the only thing I could think would make it better! It's durable, adjustable - has more straps than I know what to do with. Great bag. very happy with my purchase.

Great so far, liking the color combination
Great pack with lots of organization ideas, I’m able to pack what I need. Tent, poncho, 2 shirts 2 pants change of socks 2 pairs of underwear, sleeping bag, radio, water filtration, and solar panel with power bank, medkit, with a bunch of smaller items for comfort all inside a backpack liner. The stuff side pockets (idk what they’re actually called) are my favorite I’m able to stuff things in between them that normally would be bigger or take up space inside the pack like my tent poles. This is my first Kelty bag. My only other experience has been an old sleeping bag that’s held up amazingly so if that’s anything to look forward to with this company then great. Initial review after using it for a few hours, if anything changes I’ll re-review

One of my all time favorite backpacks.
I purchased the newer model cause I wanted something more subtle and to see if they'd improved on anything. I gotta say all around it's improved in every aspect. It's got a ton of storage capacity if you include the outside attachment points. You can easily fit 70L+ of gear. And this bag is built strong enough to handle that. It's not too heavy, the adjustable torso velcro is a little difficult to manipulate at first but most people won't even need to. And for the price? You can't beat it. I paid $100 for this on sale and nothing else is even close in quality. Great value for the money. The cushioning for the hipbelt is top notch too. One of the most comfortable, easy to use and functionaly superior packs I own. Makes some of my Osprey's that cost triple look like its equal. The only downside is that the main compartment is very wide open with little-to-no way to organize or store anything unless you've already got all your gear partitioned out in stuff sacks/compression sacks/dry bags/packing cubes. It can be done without it, but I'd 100% recommend one of the above.

Best bang for your buck
Bought for backpacking the Ozarks. I maintain around 20-25lbs. Has held up very well on several 20+ mile hikes. Convenient pockets. Durable zippers. Breathable and comfortable. Good value for the money. Kelty is a good beginner-mid tier brand and I think this pack for the weight is money well spent.

Dang good GO bag
Bought for use as a go bag. Before I could pack…. I really had to”Go” to attend to a family emergency across the country. Packed judiciously given the perimeters and today nearly a month later with a very light laundry bill I remain fully found for a second month that it appears may be six more weeks. Honesty demands full disclosure I packed a second backpack usually my gym bag a Fabuletics cost perhaps $24 for socks underwear a pair of shoes a part of my shave kit. Interior frame and straps not tested however you will find many agreeable reports here on.the ergonomic design it is why I bought it. Safe travels and THANKS Kelty!

This is a no-brainer. Buy it today!!!
I can’t recommend this backpack enough. I’m not an outdoorsman. I work 100% online, so I often pack my computer, headset and accessories in my bag to work away from home. Lately, every few weeks I’ve traveled digital nomad style. I jam my work things plus my clothes all inside, usually to the brim. My other backpacks couldn’t handle it - ripping and tearing way too easily due to their low durability. I got sick of repairing them only to discover rips and tears in another spot a short time later. My backpack graveyard will NOT be added to anytime soon because this Kelty Redwing is made of thick, durable material. No more embarrassing holes, worrying that something important will fall out or that items inside might get wet in a flash rainstorm (I’ve lived in Costa Rica for nine years). If you’re thinking about getting this backpack, stop thinking and just buy it. It’s a no-brainer and I have ZERO regrets! It’s worth every penny!

Still decent but not the Kelty of days gone by
This was intended to replace a Redwing that I originally purchased 20+ years ago. The only reason I wanted to replace it, was the material frayed at the edges and began to impeded the zippers. I without hesitation ordered the latest iteration, thinking it would be updated, but nearly similar. My mistake for not researching prior to purchase. The new Redwing is a far cry from the tank I purchased years ago. Materials are thinner, and not Ripstop buckles are way smaller and seem less robust in the hand. The removable aluminum back supports are now a metal wire frame that pushes rather aggressively on the top of the pack. It seems with regular use it will wear through. I did like that the yoke is adjustable, but it still doesn't orient the weight well on my back. The waist/hip belt is now smaller, which is a plus, but is still a little cumbersome when not on your back. All in all its still a decent pack. Reasonably thoughtful pockets and layout. Just not the apples to apples to the quality that Kelty once had.

Great purchase
Excellent quality. I stuff it pretty full and don’t have any issues with the fabric or zipper. Great padding on the back and super comfortable. I’ve taken it on three trips and have had zero issues. Great 3 day 2 night bag.
