9 Years Strong - This Distiller is Built to Last!
I've owned this water distiller since 2016, and after 9 years of consistent use, it's still running perfectly. This thing is an absolute workhorse that has never given me any problems. GAME-CHANGING CLEANING TIP: Forget the citric acid that comes with it - use white vinegar for cleaning. Just put a splash of vinegar in the bottom (add a little water to cover the surface), let it sit for a few hours, and the mineral buildup dissolves. If you get build-up higher up on the walls, use a bit more vinegar, fill the water until the build-up area is covered, and let it sit overnight. This tip makes maintenance incredibly easy and saves you money. Why quality matters: I have a friend who bought a cheaper knockoff version instead of this one. His lasted only 3 years before breaking. Meanwhile, mine has lasted 3x longer and still going. You really do get what you pay for. More Pro Tips: - Stick with H2O Labs brand filters - I've tried knockoffs and they're noticeably inferior - They say to change filters every 60 days but I usually go about 90 before a noticeable taste - Yes, the filters cost money, but compared to other water purification options, they're reasonably priced - Fill line tip: Don't go by the "FULL" indicator exactly. Fill to about halfway up the word "FULL" for a complete carafe without spillover - Lid removal: Hold the unit against your body and peel the lid away like you're pouring from a bowl Bottom line: After 9 years of daily use with zero issues, I can confidently say this distiller is worth every penny. The vinegar cleaning method makes maintenance a breeze, and the build quality ensures you'll be using this for years to come. Highly recommended for anyone serious about clean water. Would I buy again? Absolutely. Would I recommend to friends? Already have (though I tell them to get THIS one, not a knockoff).

Fantastic machine!
This superseded its' description in leaps and bounds. Great little machine well worth investing into. Very happy with the flavor of our water now. It's so clean and delicious having all the silt and excess minerals removed. We have well water and it's amazing how much 'junk' is in it. It also explains why the husband has had so many kidney stones and bladder issues. So glad we bought this! Update! We've had this wonderful machine since June 12th and have used it religiously every day. We are 64 years old, so not Popeye's by any means, but our energy level is amazing now. The husband and I have been going non-stop on outside projects, and we are lifting 350 pound awnings for a mare's motel all by ourselves!!! I kid you not. He was riddled with RA a year ago, and now it's arrested and he feels like he's 20 again. I have degenerative disk disease, and am a short 5' 5", yet I'm climbing horse corrals and lifting these monster 8' by 24' long enormous trussed horse awnings like I'm superwoman. This water is freaking unbelievable!!! We sleep like babies now--and in 44 years of marriage we've seldom slept that well. My husband had two huge kidney stones diagnosed before we started the distilled water--they are now gone!!! The gunk we see on the bottom of the machine tells us how much crap is in well water, and our well is 750' down. We do take supplements as we are not getting the minerals, but now we are thinking there were too many minerals and too much sand and other nasty unknowns that was making the water unhealthy. Mind you, we dove into this 'experiment' with open minds but not expecting much. We are still pinching each other in disbelief that we erected four of those enormous awnings completely by ourselves and zero pain the next day. ZERO! We drink it constantly as we crave it. For tasteless water, it is so very gratifying. I like tea with lemon, or just the water on ice with lemon and it is so darn good. Prior to this you couldn't get me to touch water for nothing. I was a diet coke gal, twice daily. Anything but water. Now all I want is this water. Weight loss, oh yeah! About 5 lbs in two months. Toxins literally pour out of us every day when we shower. Unbelievable! I know there's not a lot of information about the benefits of distilled water which is why we didn't expect much, but now that we have drank it religiously for over two months we feel absolutely wonderful. Another perk I've noticed is no morning brain fog when I wake up. But here's the real proof. Both of us had pretty bad blood pressure checkups prior to doing this, so we decided it would be fun to keep a written list of daily blood pressure tests for the both of us. He was always in the 150s or higher, and I have a problem with my temper so I would skyrocket into the 170s. Neither of us are heavy by any means either. Just stress from daily issues. Anyway, those readings have both plummeted to a lovely normal reading for the past two weeks for the both of us. If that's not proof of improvement, I don't know what is. So those nay-sayers that think distilled is horrible--what do you think they use for wine, beer, etc.? Duh! It's all distilled.

Stellar Product
This is the first time I am writing a review for an Amazon purchase, but I just had to speak out on the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller we purchased on January 19, 2022. I will admit that this may be one of those lengthy reviews so for those of you with little patience I will say upfront that this is a stellar device. It outperforms any of our expectations and I highly recommend it. OK, for those willing to stick around for the longer version, here we go. We live on a 100 acre farm and over the past 30+ years approximately 7 gas wells have been dug on the property. All but two of those have been capped and sealed. We always wondered if some of the residual petroleum may have leached into the water table. Several years ago, we had our water tested and nothing objectionable was reported. However, when we would leave a glass of water sitting overnight, the next morning there would be a lovely rainbow of oil on the surface. I don’t think it takes an Einstein to know that something wasn’t right. Therefore, we searched for a water distiller. We weren’t prepared to spend a thousand dollars, but we wanted one we could depend on. The Best-In-Class seemed to fit both our pocket and our needs. We couldn’t be more impressed with the water it produces and how well it works. We make approximately 3 gallons of distilled water a day. This keeps us, and our animals and indoor garden, in clean, healthy water. I was a little concerned about keeping it clean, especially after seeing some pictures of heavy sediment left in the bottom. Well, let me tell you, with a minimum of care, it stays clean and smooth. After each production we put approximately 1/3 cup of vinegar in the bottom, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then we go in with a nylon scrub cloth and wash the bottom and sides thoroughly. Every other time we also add a few drops of Dawn dish soap. We rinse it thoroughly after and refill for the next batch. A little thing like plugging the cord in is made even simpler with the little white mark on each cord that tells you when you have them properly seated. They have made it as carefree as possible. We start a batch in the morning, in the mid-afternoon and then at night. I highly recommend the H2O Labs Best-In-Class Stainless Steel Water Distiller for anyone who wants to live a healthier life. If you have had issues with kidney or bladder stones, using distilled water will significantly help you reduce your chanced of getting another one. City water is filled with so many caustic chemicals we would be shocked to know. Even well water is not what we think it is. I truly believe my families health has been made better because of this purchase. Thank you for your patience. You can trust this distiller. UPDATE A YEAR LATER: We loved this distiller until we started having issues with it stopping mid process. We contacted the seller and they said "No problem we will send out a replacement thermal control and that should take care of it." We waited and waited but no replacement part arrived. We placed a second call and was told it was still sitting there and they would send it out. We waited another two weeks and still no replacement part, so called again. This time they finally sent it but replacing the part did not work. Thank goodness we had purchased Asurion insurance so we contacted them and got our money back. The machine is good but don't buy from these folks. The customer service does not exist.

Amazing distiller
Going on six months with this distiller and it has been flawless. I run it before I go to sleep and in the morning, there's a gallon of pure water. Cleaning is very easy with vinegar to clear any scale. I have no clue what they put in my tap water, but when removing the top to clean, there is a putrid smell left over from the tap water: all the garbage in the water which I no longer drink. I do have a countertop RO filter as well which is obviously faster, but the distilled water does taste better.

NOT SAFE DANGER!!!!!
made my wife sick!!! the stainless steel is rusting after a week. it's made from an inferior grade material not safe for food. Stainless steel is primarily an alloy of iron, with at least 10.5% chromium, which creates its corrosion resistance by forming a passive oxide layer; other key metals like nickel, molybdenum, manganese, and elements like carbon and nitrogen are added to enhance specific properties like strength, toughness, and heat resistance, creating different grades for various application. If it is rusting the stainless steel is contaminated and not to food grade. I can only imagine what other metals that don't oxidize in the presence of oxygen are leaching into the water. you can see the small specs of rust on the inner wall of the distiller after one week of use. It may look small and insignificant, but it is a major sign of contaminants in the stainless steel not food grade.!!!!! I ran the distiller through five cycles before consuming. My wife said something's not right. Migraine nausea, stomach cramps. This is my third distiller I have used the other two for over a decade with no problem.

Initial results are very good
5/27/21 I live in a part of the country where the tap water is undrinkable due to caliche. I have a water softener that removes much of the caliche for the water inside of the house while my outdoor taps are just city water. For drinking/cooking purposes I have a reverse osmosis (RO) system under my sink that feeds a single tap. When I got this distiller the instructions said to run a gallon through it and throw it away. I used the RO water for that gallon and there was almost no residue in the tank--which tells me that my RO unit is doing a pretty good job. The tank cleaned out easily. I dumped that gallon out on an oleander, which didn't die--another good sign. I did the next gallon with my house (softened, not RO) water. There was a little brownish gunk and quite a bit of salt residue in the tank. It took just a bit of effort to clean out the residue. That wasn't a surprise as the softener works by passing the city water through salt in order to remove most of the caliche. I next ran a gallon of city water (not RO or softened) through the unit. There was a large amount of brownish gunk without a lot of salt. It took a fair amount of effort to clean out the residue--think food burned onto a pan level of effort. The tank stank when I opened it but after washing it the tank had no smell. The gallons from the RO and softened water were crystal clear with no taste or odor. The gallon from the city water was crystal clear with no odor but there was the faintest taste to it. It was drinkable and if I hadn't been really tuned in to any taste/odor I may have missed the taste. I certainly wouldn't have picked up the taste if it had been in tea or other flavored beverage. So far I am impressed with the unit. I bought it mainly to have something on hand in case there is a disruption in the water supply - it is a good bet that gas pipelines aren't the only things controlled by computers - as I wanted to be able to turn almost any water into something drinkable. The $250 price tag is worth it to me for that reason. The unit is about as loud as a house fan turned on high and it expels hot air for the entire 5.5 hour run time. This isn't an issue for me as I have been running it in the garage. I think in the winter I might try it out in my bedroom at night as I run a fan anyway (for white noise) and the heat can then warm up the room. For the ratings, I'll put easy to clean as 4 stars because nasty water will take some real effort. I'm going with 5 stars for value for the money as the unit is doing what it needs to do and comes with 5 extra filters--enough to make 180 gallons. I'm also going with 5 stars for flavor as it rendered my undrinkable city water to nearly tasteless.

Premium distiller
I like that this distiller has a stainless steel canister inside and out, and a glass carafe. The instructions are easy to understand and follow. I have been using this distiller for about three months, every other day or two, sometimes every day. I usually don't let the distiller go until it stops on its own, but it seems to be easier to clean if I stop it a little sooner and clean it while still warm. I have mostly used vinegar to clean, if I clean the distiller promptly. I save the distiller cleaning powder for the tougher cleaning jobs. I use the distilled water for my cpap, my electric teapot, and for drinking. I am hoping that this distiller will last for a while - we will see, but for now I'm happy with it.

The minerals we need come from food, not water.
Let me be clear: it distills just fine and the water itself is great. The Head Assembly is difficult for me to get off the Main Body/Boiling Chamber. I'm no wimp, but really? There are no ridges, or tabs, or any sort of "grip spot" on the Head Assembly to help you lift it off the Main Body/Boiling Chamber! The Tabs on the Nozzle aren't responsive to normal thumb and forefinger pressing in order to release the Nozzle from the Head Assembly. The use of a small flat-head screw driver is suggested, (page 14 says, "Use force if required.") but we're talking plastic here... You have to get that thing off in order to insert and replace the Activated Carbon Pod. Be careful if you go that route! Just sayin.' The H2o Labs tank is MUCH easier to clean than my decades-old WaterWise was, so that's a huge plus for me. The fan isn't too loud, no worse than what I was accustomed to. The footprint is no bigger than the "famous stand mixer" with the mixing bowl that you raise and lower. The first gallon went straight into my humidifier, the second into glass jugs in the fridge, and the one that's almost finished will be stored. I can't wait to see how my coffee will taste in the morning. Dark roast, purest water, straight up! The first cycle was on the night shift so it was ready this morning. I don't know how long it took. The second cycle went in (cold water) and was finished in 6 hours, 12 minutes. The third cycle went in (boiling water) 3 hours ago and the Carafe is 3/4 full right now. The suggestion to use boiling water may be helpful in a pinch.

Bought in 2021, Reviewed in 2025
I bought this for my parents as their municipal water had flocculence and a very unpleasant “dirty” taste. They have run two batches per day through this every single day for the past four years. That’s 730 gallons of distilled output. How much would that have cost to buy at the grocery store!?! It still works flawlessly. Each time a cycle completes they spray 5% vinegar (sometimes called pickling vinegar), and let it sit covered for a couple of minutes before wiping clean. The dogs (4), cat, wild birds, and numerous houseplants all drink this water. The electric kettle has never had to be descaled since using this distiller. It was previously cleaned every time it was used, the tap water was so hard. I grew up with a large distiller, then my parents moved off the farm into town. They somehow never got another distiller until this one. TL;DR. Don’t waste, time, effort, and money using reverse osmosis or filter systems. Get a distiller and free yourself from that junk.
