Great for fan noise control and increased CPU/GPU performance at same average load temps
This is an early review, and so far I'm happy with the 2 of these I bought. My only complaint is that these don't turn on with the laptop, and that there is no Fahrenheit option. The major, significant TL:DR is that on modern gaming laptops that are subject to aggressive thermal throttling, the measure of success for your cooling strategy is not "significant temp drops" but increased watt draw by the CPU and GPU at the same operating temp or a few (5 deg C or so) degrees cooler. These Kilm fans, if you get a good fit, are great for this. I had 2 of the Opolar coolers I got with a sale, but the issue with those is that current high end gaming laptops are not uniformly flat on the bottom, and many of these computers are venting heat from the back, under the monitor lid. While the gripping feet on the Opolar coolers are ingenious for computers they fit on, for many rear exhaust computers the monitor lid will compromise the mounting. So there are three scenarios I'll lay out where you may thing you want this device: 1) MacBook or Windows/Intel Surface format ultrabook: these computers invent new svelt places to exhaust heat from tiny high-speed fans. Additionally, the ultra book hinge may be a 1 piece design. Ultrabook processors use aggressive thermal throttling to avoid overheat situations, but are usually too thin to mount one of these coolers. It would be better to raise these computers up a bit so air can move around them properly. If you want to try a fan, a silicone baffle that is shallow and narrow is included with the Kilm. But your mileage will surly vary. 2) Older laptop with 1 or 2 side exhaust vents: These previously traditional laptop designs mounted the motherboard with the cpu facing up underneath the keyboard and then dumped the heat to the nearest side exit. Some of these older computers have passive thermal throttling or at best a BIOS coded overheat cut off temp set to keep the laptop from melting down. The Kilm and Opolar coolers have rave reviews inches use to allow an older computer to serve a bit longer. Cooling pads also work great with these older laptops as fresh intake air was expected to come from the bottom of the computer, and usually does. 3) Contemporary laptops with discreet graphics: The addition of a GPU to an already cramped laptop chassis meant some new and unusual gimmicks to cool the performance beast down. Notably, motherboards are mounted cpu and GPU side down, and close to the rear of the laptop. Any reasonable entry and exit for air will be utilized. I run an Asus A15 with an AMD processor, and heat is an issue, but not merely for wear and tear. The Asus also draws air from through the keyboard and passively from the bottom of the plastic chassis. On gamining and high performance laptops, as well as ultrabooks, processor and GPU speed ceilings are hard coded to the speed your fans to. Choose the Silent profile, the fans run unnoticed but the processors are capped. Choose Performance, more heat, more speed, louder fans. Choose Turbo, max speed, massive heat exhaust, loud pitchy fans. What I use 2 of the Kilm coolers to do is to draft the exhaust from the GPU and CPU heat sinks at the rear of the computers so that can run the Asus in its Turbo fan profile, allowing the processors to run at maximum speed and wattage draw without throttling (suddenly slowing down) while gaming. Because the heat is being pulled from the heatsinks more quickly, the internal fans run MUCH slower and allow my girlfriend to think in piece or for us to conversate at a normal volume. When my laptop is running GTA or Red Dead Online, the Klim fan at the GPU exhaust runs at 3600 RPM and the CPU exhaust fan runs at 3400 RPM. If the GPU and CPU process a demanding load (initial game start or stage changes for example), both Kilm fans are set to auto and will briefly run past 4000 RPM to respond to increases in exhaust temperatures and the quickly quiet down when the loading is done. The important thing about measuring the success of these exhaust coolers on contemporary gaming laptops is not significant temp drops at the cpu and gpu but increased watt draw at the same safe operating temps. Chip makers sell their products with expected efficiencies and specific temps. If a chip is too hot, the laptop will throttle down until the chip cools, with not user input and in a laptop few ways to override this behavior. So if 65 watt GPU runs safely at 80 degrees Celsius, i want that chip to draw 65 watts at 80 degrees instead of 55 watts at 80 degrees because ill get faster and more stable framerates atthe higher watt draw. This Kilm (or even the Opolar one) cooler is perfect for achieving this as long as the cooler fits and doesn't impead opening the monitor lid. On most of the current gaming laptops, there are entirely too many passages for air entry to ever achieve the vacuum effect that Kilm states is optimal for their product. Its is also why on these computers you are not going to see 20 degree F or C temp drops by attaching on of these fans. So don't fall for the slick marketing copy, from any laptop fan product. But if you want your laptop processors to run at maximum wattage without the chassis fans screaming, I can recommend these fans. Will update as I go.

Thumbs up to an awesome laptop cooling unit!!!
This is a very nice laptop cooler. One caveat is make sure your laptop has a cooling vent on the side. It should be obvious from the photos, but this nuzzles up to the side of the laptop on side vents. It works really well though. It is small, and yet it sucks out an amazing amount of air. The idea is that as it pulls out the air it creates a vacuum that has to be replaced from the intake side faster. It means that the laptop fans can push more air in since they are not needing to do the heavy lifting of pushing air out. It is very quiet too. I can barely hear it. Although I do have to say when I am doing video captures with my webcam and microphone I have to turn down the fan speed or it is picked up by the mic. But when I am playing WoW I don't even notice it. You can switch the numeric display between the fan speed and the temp of the air moving through it. I like setting it to the temp display to get an idea how hot things are getting. Without it my gaming laptop was getting hot enough when full on in WoW that it would start to show some issues periodically from the heat. Using this cooler I don't have any issues. I have tried those big bulky under the laptop coolers and they don't hold a candle to this. And this one has the added advantage of not lifting up the laptop off the desk. It is also small enough that if I want to take laptop and cooler to a friends to play it packs really nice in my bag. I even got one for my girlfriend too. P.S. when we are sitting side by side with both our coolers running full blast you still cannot hear the fans really.

Really cools down my computer, BUT! Update.....
I just received my KLIM Cool. I'm not a gamer, however I needed a new 2nd dairy fan unit to help cool down my laptop. I've been using the unit for about 6 hours know. The unit is easy to setup. It really cools down my system, however the motor gets a little loud at the higher RPM's. Also, I wish the unit showed Fahrenheit and not just Celsius. Between 3751-4000 RPM's the unit is keeping my computers temperature between 29-31 degrees C which is 84-87 degrees F. I ran the unit for over an hour at full speed and it never got much over 4100 RPM's and the computers lowest temp was 28 degrees C - 82.4 degrees for very short periods. It seems that 29 C or 84.2 F are it's limitation, at least for this unit that I have. The KLIM's body itself never gets warm at all and I like that. It's a little noisy but consistent and keeps my computer from over heating and that's what really counts. I forgot to mention that, without the KLIM unit on, my computers temp gets to 45 degrees C - 113 degrees F in about 10 minutes time. Of course this update is a day later. Once in place and turned on the KLIM fan starts cooling down the computer immediately. In less than 10 minutes my computers is back down to 31 degrees C - 87.8 degrees. It took under 15 minutes for the computer to get back down to 29 degrees C - 84.2 degrees F. So far, I really like this unit and think it was a good choice and purchase. It's Oct 10th 2021 and I have been using the unit for a couple of weeks now and it is still performing well keeping my laptop temperature below 85 degrees F.

Huge disappointment wish it worked.
I contacted the company before writing this post. Their response was as disappointing as this product. It doesn't work. I've stacked cd cases under it so it can be the same height as my computer. The plastic bit that sticks to your computer doesn't. The auto-fan must be switched to manual so my computer won't get so hot. It was a great idea but it needs more work. When I emailed the company about the various problems I've had I was told they will keep them in mind for future releases... Seriously? Perhaps we should all wait to buy this until they get the bugs worked out? Update: 8/9/16 I received a replacement, the fan was slower than the previous one the response from Paul was: "It's the big weakness of our product, its effectiveness varies quite a lot between different models. As far as the speed, it depends partly on the air outflow, the more powerful it comes from the laptop the faster the KLIM Cool will be able to go, that being said 3650 is normally sufficient for decent cooling, unless your model is not compatible as seems to be yours. I apologize for the unsatisfactory experience, unfortunately it seems our product didn't meet your needs but if you could change your review regarding the customer service it would be greatly appreciated! Best regards, Paul" I am concerned that the company knows their product varies from models (this was the only model when I purchased it) and their big concern is me changing my review about their customer service! Ok they emailed me back and sent me another product that didn't work (I was offered a refund or replacement product, for the one that didn't work). So as far as customer service goes, they do write you back & offer to replace or refund. As far as the product my Dell computer which has a side vent as it is a gaming computer isn't being cooled by this product. Paul isn't just some customer service flunky as it is my understanding he is one of the owners/inventors. I'm still not recommending this product. 8-10-16 This morning due to the owner/inventor Paul not liking my update from yesterday (I refuse to give a glowing 5 star review about a product that doesn't work & lie about what has been said by the company) wrote me a rather snarky email. I've written mostly 5 star reviews unless something doesn't work or something is seriously wrong. People that behave as this individual has I don't do business with. If he continues to email me asking me to change my review or with the snark I will contact Amazon & have a chat about Paul.

Stopped working after a year of use.
This was a great product and I'm very sad to have lost the use of it while gaming. I bought this fan two years ago, but only used it about 8 months of those two years. It worked great, exhausting the extra heat that my fan plate didn't. Then recently it just stopped working. I will probably buy another one because it's a great addon for cooling with a fan plate, I'm just bummed that it stopped working when I needed it the most and proved to be a bit unreliable. Oh well, guess that's what keeps them selling.

I wish we had this years ago. Overclocking/Performance Test
This company is composed of only 5 people?! My props to them! I love this thing! So here is my feedback. Im running a laptop with an Intel Core i5 460M Clocked at 2.53Ghz and an Nvidia GeForce 310m with 512mb of vram. My average temps relying on just my heat sync fan (which has gone through quite the wear is between 87C to 99C and I always had to monitor my temps to avoid shutting down due to high temperatures. Once I applied the Klim Cool+ my temps dropped and I idled at 50C. To give you an idea of how effective this item is I conducted the following test by over clocking my GPU. In this scenario I used MSI Afterburner to over clock. Nvidia Geforce 310m - Standard Clock Speeds; Iddle vs Under Load (or in heavy usage) Memory Clock: 790MHz................................................................. || || W/KlimCool+ = 50C......Iddle/Minimum......W/HeatSink = 87C || W/KlimCool+ = 87C......UndearLoad......W/HeatSink = 110C Shader Clock: 606MHz................................................................... || ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nvidia GeForce 310M - Overclocked Speeds; Iddle vs Under Load Memory Clock: 790MHz................................................................. || || W/KlimCool+ = 50C-58C....Iddle/Minimum....W/HeatSink = 98C-100C || W/KlimCool+ = 74C....UndearLoad....W/HeatSink = 110C+ Shader Clock: 606MHz................................................................... || Keep in mind that this is working by sucking as much air as possible from your already installed Heat Sink and is at the mercy of the pressure of your laptops build case plus the shape of the vent. The reason the temperatures fluctuate in such a strange manner is because the KlimCool+ is able to suck out more air once the heat sink fan kicks in from seeing the load that the unit is handling. Ive told my friends about this and they have told me its a no-brainer. That big of a difference for such a low price is insane! we love it!

I was worried because many forum posts and websites suggested I wouldn't see a major difference and that coolers were a waste of money
When I was researching cooling options for my laptop, I was worried because many forum posts and websites suggested I wouldn't see a major difference and that coolers were a waste of money. I can happily report that I saw a significant drop in temperature with this product. It was also very easy to set up and I love the adjustable fan speed. The fan can get a little loud when it's at its highest setting, but I only put it at that setting when I'm playing games, so I've got headphones on and don't notice it anyway. One note - mind your work space and the size of the product. It is a little large, which is good for effectiveness, but could be bad if your work space is too narrow. I would hardly call it a drawback because laptops are very portable and you can easily make room, but if you're reading these reviews looking for a recommendation, it might be something you need to consider for your situation. All in all, I am extremely pleased with the KLIM Cool + Laptop cooler and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an effective way to lower the temperature of their laptop.

replaced internal fan
I am not a gamer but my laptop overheats. It's an older laptop I share with three cats. The internal fan gets fur in it and stops working. I've had it fixed before but it's a lot of time, money, and inconvenience to take it in for a professional repair. Problem Solved. The fan came with multiple sized silicone sleeves and I had no trouble finding one that fit my air vent. It takes a little fiddling to get a good fit, but it's easy to adjust. I haven't had a problem with my laptop shutting down since installing this fan. Update 5/6/19 Dropping from 5 stars to 4 After this device experienced a Very rough trip in my luggage for a week it became unreliable in function. Only the On/ Off button seems to still works. About half the time the device functions at a speed high enough to cool my laptop the rest of the time it barely moves. It also randomly turns itself off. However... priced under 20 dollars this fan is worth replacing. I wish it was more durable but I'll know to be more careful in the future. I ordered a new one today. UPDATE 9/21/19 The second one died on me. Despite being gentle with the unit I am having the exact same issues as the first. Last time I blamed myself, this time I blame the device. Dropped stars for poor durability. I'll keep looking for a better product.

¡¡Saludos!!

Great product, friendly company
Great quality for the price, it worked so well that the laptop gpu fans stopped spinning all together and it became cold. Only thing is the rubber feet aren’t the right height for my laptop but that’s not their fault.
