Good working adapter between external SAS2 and internal SAS2 connection
Good working adapter for SFF-8087 (internal SAS2) and SFF-8088 (external SAS2) on empty PCIe slot. It could be installed properly in the PCIe slot with a full-height bracket. However, It cannot be inserted into the PCIe slot with a low-profile bracket (due to a wrong direction and length of the low-profile bracket included.) According to other reviews, it should be working fine with a low-profile bracket from LSI external SAS2 RAID controller, such as LSI 9286CV-8e. Because I had a bunch of LSI 9286CV-8e controllers from Lenovo SA120 units, I could use a low-profile bracket from it. With a LSI low-profile bracket it can be mounted in the low-profile PCIe slot as expected. Other cheaper adapters (with a small gap between two SFF-8088 ports) will not work with a low-profile bracket, even though we can use an LSI one. I highly recommended this adapter for someone who wants to connect internal-external SAS2 devices with a low-profile chassis, such as 2U servers.

Fits well in 2u (half height pci) chassis.
Unlike another common 8087 to 8088 adapter which had the two ports slightly spaced apart, this one fits into the low profile pic slot (the pcb of the other is too tall, even though it includes a half height bracket). There isnโt much to the product other than that. Itโs a simple pcb, so not much to go wrong or anything else. It does use the same bracket as the lsi 9207-8e cards I have. Itโs not really a huge deal, but because I have spare half height and full higher brackets, itโs nice to know they are interchangeable if I ever need to switch out the brackets later on. Great product for what it does. I recommend it.

Warning: these are not assembled correctly!
I have ordered several of these and they were fine, but the last one I bought fell apart on me. It seems they don't bother to solder the legs on the port shields to the board, so when I pushed the connector in, it popped right off - see pictures. And to make matters worse, one of the legs is missing. Was it missing all along, or did it just break off and fall in my server? I have searched all over and can't find it, but it's tiny, so it could be right there shorting something on the motherboard and I won't know until something blows. Now I have to unrack the server, pull everything out of it, turn it over and blow a ton of air in there to make sure it's not actually in there. Thanks for that 10Gtek, that is exactly how I wanted to spend my afternoon. After this happened, I looked at the other 3 units I bought and found that none of those are soldered either, but at least they are glued on so they can't easily pop off.

Works great, very sturdy, no performance issues
It's a little more expensive than I'd like for what it is, however this adapter worked quite well for converting an existing SAS backplane chassis into a JBOD enclosure. My RAID controller had no problems detecting the backplane/drives through this adapter, and all features such as disk hot swap and drive locate worked fine. Unlike some competing products, there was no mounting issues or bracket spacing problems -- it fit into the case just like any normal expansion card might.

Is this the adapter you deserve? Probably not, but it probably is the one you need
10Gtek Dual SAS SFF-8088 to SFF-8087 Adapter, with Low Profile and Full-Height Bracket Positive: The adapter itself works just fine Neutral: Oversized PCB prevents use of some right angle SFF-8087 connectors Negative: The low profile bracket is not as pictured in the listing, it's simply a shorter version of a standard bracket, and not mirrored like it needs to be. This was ultimately the adapter I needed, and really the only one I could find in 2025. So while it does work, I had to cut down the needlessly long PCB to fit the right angle SFF-8087 cables I had, and I had to mangle the half-height adapter in a vice so I could actually use it in my R720

Perfect for DIY Disk Shelf
Great exactly what I was looking and from a reputable brand. For my diy disk shelf. I have an LSI- 9207-8e card and connecting this to my server and a sff-8088 cable connecting the two together.

Full Height Works Great
As others said, the half height bracket may be backwards, but the full height worked perfectly. Very solid click connection with an 8088 cable outside and 8087 inside.

Working
Tried another (less expensive) brand, and there were problems (with the adapter? cabling? HBA adapter?). This one working out of the box.
