Reliable Winter Grip for Peace of Mind After getting more time with these radial cable traction chains, I can say they’ve really proven themselves. The steel cable design with alloy rollers gives good bite on icy patches and hard-packed snow without the heavy feel of old-school link chains. They’re also easier to handle—lighter, less bulky, and quicker to put on. The first time takes a little patience, but once I figured out the routine, I was able to get them on in just a few minutes per tire. What I really appreciate is how smoothly they ride. There’s far less noise and vibration compared to traditional chains, which makes driving less stressful. They also tuck neatly into the included storage bag, so I can keep them in the trunk year-round without sacrificing much space. They’ve held up well after repeated use, with no fraying or broken rollers so far. A couple of things to keep in mind: they are best suited for passenger vehicles and lighter SUVs—not heavy trucks or very large tires. They’re meant for temporary use only, so it’s important to remove them once back on clear pavement to avoid wear on both the chains and the tires. Also, checking clearance is essential—on vehicles with tight wheel wells, these may fit better than standard chains, but you still want to double-check compatibility. Bottom line: A dependable, compact traction solution that installs with relative ease, rides smoother than traditional chains, and gives real peace of mind when driving in snow and ice. these tire chains were good. As long as you get the correct size for the tire you have, they were a good fit for my tires. They could be put on without gloves, but if it is cold outside and snowing, you might want some gloves to put them on just because your hands might get cold. They were also easy to remove. You put them on pretty much like all chains ... lay them flat on the ground, driver your car over them, and wrap them around the tire and clip in place. When I used them, then did not come off when driving in the snow. good value for the money.

These chains worked great on my Tesla. They held up admirably in extreme winter conditions, providing a solid grip on slippery surfaces. The build quality is good, and they certainly did the job. However, the difficulty arose when it came time to remove the tire chains. Despite following the instructions diligently, the process proved to be more time-consuming and strenuous than anticipated. The clasps and fastening mechanisms, while undoubtedly secure during use, seemed almost too secure when it came to removal. I found myself grappling with frozen fingers in the bitter cold, struggling to disengage the chains from the tires. The tension in the links and the tight fit around the wheels made the removal process more challenging than with other tire chains I've used in the past. It's worth noting that this could be a significant drawback, especially for individuals who may not have the physical strength or dexterity to manage the stubborn removal.

I would recommend. I only had winter tires in the rear tires and cheap all seasons in the front tires and was loosing traction so I put these chains on the front wheels and I would say its amazing how good chains work. It is loud on parts of the road not covered in snow. Use only when road is covered in snow since It is meant for snow traction because the noise is much worse . I drove for a couple hours on the highway that covered in snow without loosing traction. I don't know how long these lasts. It's easy to put on if you know what you're doing.

2022 Subaru Crosstrek. Deep snow and ice. Worked fantastic. Put them only on the front tires, great grip and braking. Of course it’s best to put them on before you hit a blizzard or stuck in the parking lot. You need space to roll them on. An extra bungee or star bungee is key.

Yes, I went a little bit cheap on getting myself a set of chains for my trip to Big Bear Mountains (CA) that has just ended today. The chain seemed too good to be true. It was affordable compared to many other snow chains out there that costs $8-90 or even in mid $100's. The installation video also seemed fair enough for me to try on my own. Despite some negative comments I had read, I decided to give it a try. On the day of my trip up to the Big Bear Mountains (12/26/2019), we faced the following problems. 1. The installation was not as easy as it was described. To be more accurate with my review, I drive a 5-series BMW which is a rear-wheel drive, so I had to place my chains in the rear wheels, which does not rotate left or right, unlike the front wheels. Even considering this added difficulty, the installation process not easy. the securing wires that go inside the car were extremely difficult to reach and hard to tighten. 2. The yellow securing clip was not secure enough. It popped the wire out in the middle of the driving and ended up scratching my car because of hanging chain wire. 3. The chain itself is not tight enough after securing it to the inner-most holding of the wire. The wheels kept sliding without a grip and the car would not move because the chain is not tight enough. I had to purchase an extra set of chain tighteners ON SPOT at the chain check-point for another $20 to actually get the car rolling. It was only after I put on the extra set of chain tighteners that the car started rolling. 4. Last, but not least, this set of chains BROKE APART after the first use. This is the first and the last trip that this chain lasted. I had to replace the chains because it was broken during its use (note: I never touched the chains after installation until this point. Who does?). To think about the chain breaking after the first use raises concerns for its sturdiness and reliability. I feel like my money has been wasted on a poorly made product.

Size chart was accurate and I can get the cables pretty tight without a tensioner.Have used the chain cables three times so far in my bmw with a dual clutch transmission which is a little more sporty and aggressive and it has done great with little to no spin.Takes me about 20 minutes or less to put them on my rear wheel drive car which is harder than front and removal takes few minutes.My last drive I drove with them on for about 50 miles out of Tahoe and none of the cables came loose.Also if you don’t tighten the cables correctly on both sides the cable could scratch your rims paint which happen to one of my rims.Other than that, solid buy for the price. Will probably buy another pair to be safe in case one breaks.

You can satisfy the silly California law requiring even 4x4 trucks with Mud and Snow tires (like I have on my truck) to carry chains with you in your vehicle at CHP "Chains Required" checkpoints with these "econo" cable chains. Note that the CHP Apparatchiks will not allow you to pass on roads with "chains required" even with a 4x4 with M&S tires, even in milder R1 or R2 conditions, unless you can show them that you have chains with you. You are only required to actually use chains on a 4x4 with M&S tires in "R3" conditions, i.e., when the snow is blowing so badly that it's a white-out or it's in huge, unplowed drifts. However, in R3 conditons, you should get off the road and not chance driving blindly off the road or get into a head-on with another vehicle. CHP usually closes roads in R3 conditions anyway. I don't ever intend to use these (or any other chains) on my 4x4 since only very expensive ($700 and up for just two of the four wheels you'd need to chain up) truck chains (read: rusty, heavy, messy, and hard as hell to put on even in daylight with no snow blowing) would be dependable in R3 conditions. And I'm not going to try to put chains on all four wheels and maybe get killed by another driver who never saw me squatting down on the roadside trying to get my chains on in a blizzard. Always have a full tank of gas, provisions, and warm clothes in your vehicle at all times in snow country, and you can ride out the worst safely off the road without risking an accident in a storm. You might want to get in the habit of checking weather conditions regularly before any driving in the snow. Hey, it's winter and your life and the lives of your loved ones depend on your prep like nowhere else. Jus' sayin'....

Great value for sturdy trustworthy chains. Chains generally aren’t fun to install and these are no exception. More specifically, they aren’t necessarily hard to install, but can be tricky to get tight with the adjustment style on them. Otherwise, they’re great and fit my tire size as recommended.

I had bought a pair of used SC1042 last year and was very pleased with performances in the snow and ability to put chains on and off quickly (2-3 minutes) when driving on back roads covered with snow. Since my car is AWD i bought another set to stabilize back of the car when driving in the snow and ice.

The chains fit great and worked as they should. I used them twice this winter and was glad to have them. I followed the advice of another review and was glad I did. The product code recommended for my car on Amazon was not correct. I went to the manufacturers website and it was a different code than what was suggested. I ordered the set that the manufacturer suggested and they fit great.

If you keep these in your trunk they will be a big spaghetti mess if you don't strap the box closed. Otherwise these are a decent alternative to tire chains.
