Aquarium Jebao CP-25 /CP-40 /CP-55 Series Cross Flow Pump Wavemaker Controller (CP-55)

This thing is quite amazing, I have to say. I run a Rio 32HF powerhead for my sump, which is more than adequate for my 180-gallon freshwater aquarium, but with my dual corner overflows/returns, it wasn't circulating the water in the tank adequately, I felt. After a TON of research, I opted for this Jecod CP-55. I have to run it on its lowest setting or my fish, some of which are quite large (14" flagtail, 9" quetzal, 8" severum, etc.) get blown around the tank and struggle to stay in one spot. In fact, I do believe I got the wrong sized unit, but am keeping it as I may upgrade to a 220+ gallon unit. Let me be very clear: This is a very high-end knock off of the Maxspect Gyre, and I see no cost-cutting going on to deliver this at a much lower price, with one exception, which is the little Australian to USA plug converter, which is a throw-away piece of junk. I have cleaned this pump with citric acid one time after its been running for more than a year in a reef tank. It was completely covered in purple coralline algae by that point. Back to working perfectly. Very powerful for any aquarium less than 4 feet in diameter unless carefully placed. Plug converter can be better but that can be upgraded for less than $10.

I purchased one of these a month ago and have not had an issue. The second one as soon as I plugged it in it started clicking (so I know there was no sand etc, in it). Rotating the blades a bit helped. A day later in REALLY started clicking spontaneously. I could not get it to stop. I watched a YouTube video on how to dissemble it so I did (not too challenging). Nothing was wrong in the unit, so I added a bit of Silicone Grease to the ends where the plastic parts go into the holders on both ends and re-assembled (note, when doing this make sure the unit is on low spin). I had the sides wrong and on high, when I plugged it in it was facing up and it spit a lot of water out, so be sure to test it. After taking apart and re-assembling again it ran quietly. Something to try if you don't want to return / get a diff one. SO far 24 hours and all is quiet.

I've owned several Jebao crossflow pumps loved them. the changed the magnet on this new one and the pump wants to just vibrate and the warning light keeps coming as long as the magnet is attached to the back side. somehow the magnet is interfering with the motor running correctly. I take the magnet off and it just starts running fine. Problem is it falls off the glass without the magnet. I'll probably give it a few more days and return this one if it doesn't start working correctly.

Great pump for the money, too bad its dead after a few months.
