Hoffman Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Soil Conditioner to Improve Moisture Retention and Aeration, 10qt Bag

I have used peat moss for years and years outside for gardening. Mix it with soil and it’s great, I never had anything not grow because I always put peat moss in the hole first, then the plant more peat moss and then the soil. If you mix peat moss in the soil it makes the soil lighter and also helps when you have to do weeding. It helps with moisture when mixed with soil. Doesn’t allow the soil to get soggy. I feel plants thrive on it when planting.

Excellent Canadian sphagnum peat for plants needing an acidic pH. I use it for growing carnivorous plants and trailing arbutus. The texture is a fine ground sphagnum peat and mixes readily with perlite and other soil amenments. Nice large sized bag, just wish it were available as a 2-3 cubic foot bag!

This review will start with what peat moss cannot do; it cannot cure cat AIDS, it will not solve your problems with the IRS, it is incapable of time travel, and will not (not immediately at least) find you true love. That said, what can peat moss do? Before I purchased this peat moss, I was unemployed, and well, I am still unemployed but I am a student, so that is ok. However, my grades have improved and i have lost a few pounds. I can only attribute this to the superior nature of this peat moss. How so? Well, it is fine and not coarse peat moss. This makes it easier to plant in. I find its water retention capabilities to be more than adequate. Its flash point is much higher than comparably priced peat moss which is very important if you are going to use this with plants harvested from say the caldera of an active volcano as my Dionea was. At least that is where I imagine it came from. A PLANT THAT EATS FLIES!!!! That is insane! And, well the lil' bugger was on its way out before this peat moss and now it is eating flies with gusto and grace. THANK YOU HOFFMAN GOOD EARTH SPHAGNUM!!! More? YES! The bag used to contain this peat moss is in the top of its class as well. It has a resealable mechanism that....... WORKS! Get out! Incredible. I assure you, if you purchase this, open it, and then desire to close it again you will be able to do so without much difficulty. All politicians lie so it is a nice change to find a bag of dirt that lives up to its claims. Pun intended? YES! So, you have a venus fly trap and want it to thrive? Purchase this Peat Moss? YES! I love all of you very much.

For reasons I'd rather not go into, I needed to dispose of a b...some, er, old meat. And like everyone I knew that a peat bog was a great place for eliminating evid...composting old meat. Amazon to the rescue! A quick search of "peat bog" returned this handy-dandy starter kit, and eligible for Amazon Prime no less! Well you can imagine my disappointment - there is hardly enough in this bag to create a "peat puddle" never mind a bog. And here we are, three weeks later, and the finger I...CHICKEN finger I put in the puddle is still there. So even if I bought the roughly 11,312 bags that I'd need to fill my pool, I'm not even convinced it would be boggy enough to do the job! On the positive side, my leopard gecko loves the stuff. Keeps his skin moist. It's a bit more powdery that I hoped; kind of messy until it's wet. I think it's also good for plants, but unless somebody has, like, Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors, I really have no use for plants right now.

I am not a pro at gardening but I love to give things a try. I am known as the plant killer, I hear the plants cry when I try to take them home as they know its a death sentence LOL. But I am slowly learning things and I have some delicates that needed this. Well it, to me, is really nice dirt or peat moss. It is very light and fluffy if that makes sense. This was easy to work with but just don't do it in the wind, learned that LOL. I am still learning on what to use this for, but I really like it as a topper for my plants it seems to help them. Don't know if it's good or bad, but hey, as long as I don't kill them, it's a win win for me LOL This was right on par with what was being sold in the stores and it was easy for me to buy it here as it arrived after I got home from work, cause we all know how much we love to stop at a store after work. not. My delicate plant that I thought was going to die a few days after I bought it, is actually alive still, so I must be doing something right.

I use this (mixed with organic perlite) for my carnivorous plants and bog gardens and it works great. Seems a high quality moss with almost no extra bits of wood or random organic matter in the bag so good value.

I don't have the space or patience to use coconut coir in my tiny RV so this is perfect for my needs. Its as simple as opening the bag and dumping it in my Natures Head Toilet. Lasts about one month with just me using it. When its time to clean theres no odor or gross factor, just dirt. I would like to share a tip however if using this in a Nature's Head. Don't wipe with rolled up or wads of TP. They turn into a tangled mess in the spinning wheel and make extra work when dumping. Instead take some TP off the roll, break apart and stack the squares, then wipe. That way when its time to dump and refill the solid tank it takes all of about 5 min. Just dump old dirt in trash bag, open moss bag, dump in, and done!

Die Pflanzen wachsen kerngesund heran. Die Verarbeitung des sehr feinen dunklen Peat Moss ist hierbei sehr einfach. Einfach das sehr feine Peat Moss mit Regen,- oder Osmosewasser vermischen wie sie es brauchen. Ich benütze das Produkt schon mehrere Jahre. Lieferzeit ca. 2,5 Wochen. Kann das Produkt uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen. Ah ja man kann es natürlich als Bodenverbesserer für alle Pflanzen benützen! Dann einfach 1:1 mit Blumenerde usw. vermischen.
