A very poor chapter in the Battlefront saga
The DS version of Elite Squadron was obviouly designed for a young audience, witch in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but the Battlefront series was meant for all ages, and this game really has almost no connection too the Battlefront series gameplay wise in large part simply because the DS does not have the ability to play a classic style Battlefront game, there are no command posts here except in multi player melee's witch are essentially confinded to one room and only exsit to be conqured they don't spawn troops or help you win in any real way, there are 4 classes of soldiers plus the Jedi class. each class has a weapon of infinate ammo and never overheats, so you can literaly walk through the whole stage with your finger on the trigger and blast away everything in sight theres rarely even a need to switch to your more powerful but limeted ammo weapons. The number and placement of enemy troops are fixed and will always be the the same. It's an action game, no strategy required or helpful, there's never a situation where you have to choose to go to this side of the battle field and help your buddies or recapture that command post for the fourth time, never a... should I use the Engineer class for this section or the Heavy class? Simply move forward mow down the bad guys and fight an occasional boss. In pervious BF games achiving certin goals in a fight weakend the enemy somehow, for instance if you blew up there tank or killed there snipers or caputred a command post behind enemy lines your troops could rush in and and outflank them, In the DS version of Elite Squadron there is no such tactical situations, you have a goal such as clear the enemy from a room after doing so your given a new goal as if it's a completely new stage unrelated to your actions in the privious section. An Engineer can repair disabled vehicles and the Spy can reprogram enemy turrants to fire on the enemy both of witch sound cool but in practice trying to use the Spy in this way usually gets you killed and isn't particuler helpful or in the Engineers case you have about 2 oppertunitys in the whole game to use. Instant Action only has 4 levels, except for Hero Mode witch only has 2. The stragty for Instant action? Simplicity itself, grab the biggest and fastest firing weapon and blast anything that moves in an area the size of your living room. This IS fun, for about 10 mins. As others have noted the space and speeder missions are jokes, you go left, you go right, you hold down the fire button and don't run into anything. Even the boss battles are uninspiered, the final boss X1 is only difficult because you can't really do any damage too him and quite frankly your a wuss compared too him so you have to not get hit, this would be fine if you were doing more then seemingly one point of damage per strike to him. There are a couple or redemable qualitys... the game is abit fun if you just play it for what it is, and the biggest pro over the PSP version is the story is ALOT more detailed, the art in the game is really good I hope Dark Horse hires the artist to do a few of there covers sometime, cheracters in the PSP version often times pop up with little to no explination as too there signifigence to the plot, examples Shara, Rom Kota, and the rest of Grey Squadron, having said this while the game maybe abit fun you'll finish it and have unlocked everthing in under 6 hours, (and by unlock everything I mean you'll unlock 6 charecters for Hero Mode that play almost identical to the normal ones and 9 titles that mean nothing beyond a pat on the back for yourself.) and while the story is alot more detailed then the PSP version it's still weak and not especially intreasting. Simply put the DS cannot support a massive BF battlefield or its gameplay style ergo they should'nt have tried too, and to be honest they did'nt try too, they just made a game to sell on the DS and slapped Battlefront on it. Shame on you Lucasarts & N Space.

review of battlefront: elite squadron
game play is fun, though I thought at first it was going to be lame. the graphics and space flight leave a little to be desired, all in all the game wasn't bad at all.

Nostalgia
I remember playing and beating this game a few times before I was in middle school, and I enjoyed it just as much playing through it again recently

Okay game -- for a handheld system
I really expected more from the game, to be like the PSP Battlefront game. However, this game lacks for the obvious reason that it's a DS game, not a PSP. Graphical limitations aside, it's all about the story mode, which is great. I recommend the game, but only if it's just to rent or you can buy it cheap enough. (Stick to console gaming for the good SWBF feel)

10 year old boy thinks this game is awesome!!!
Ten year old boy thinks this game is awesome!!! 11 great levels! Multiplayer is good, but everyone playing has to have the game card to play. The whole game you are a clone named X1,While in other battlefront games you have a variety of different characters to be. Amazon says this game is rated teen but when i got it the package says E10plus. Overall this game is definitely worth the price.

Worst of the Series
Absolutely, hands down the worst Battlefront game made yet. Not only is it an awful Battlefront game, but a bad game in general. First of all, the campaign mode. If you are a casual Star Wars fan, you will probably find it mildly enjoyable at best. If, however, you a serious SW fan like I am, you will HATE it. It presents the absurd story of two clones who become Jedi, and it just cannot fit at all into the SW universe. Gameplay: The gameplay is terrible. Ground combat consists of mostly strafing for the entire extent of the character being a clone. For bosses, all you ever do is find the one thing that hurts them (the only thing, mind you) and do this over and over. Some think that's okay, but really, it's not. Space combat is possibly the worst of all. Your ship is on a horizontal plane, and you just fly here and there shooting starfighters. It's a joke really. The quickplay, or whatever it's called, feature I have just not even tried yet, because I hate this game so much, but I doubt it's any better than the rest of the game. If you're a little kid who doesn't mind repetitive gameplay and awful graphics (this is expected for DS), then I think you'll like it. However, if you are a gamer who likes fun, replayable gameplay, you will not. If you are a serious SW fan, you will not like the story AT ALL. And lastly, if you at all like Battlefront, Battlefron II and Renegade Squardron, do not touch this.
