Dishwasher 12008381 Heat Pump

My parents’ dishwasher was making a very loud vibration noise, so I pulled the panels off and started checking the internals. I was able to pinpoint the issue to this heat pump pretty quickly. The replacement took about 20 minutes and was honestly very straightforward. I’ve never replaced one of these before, but everything was easy to understand and went smoothly. I replaced the drain pump assembly at the same time, which was also simple to do. Once everything was back together, the dishwasher ran like a brand new machine. This repair saved my parents a lot of money and brought their dishwasher back to life. Definitely worth it if you’re comfortable doing basic appliance repairs.

Perfect replacement. Fixed my E09 error. Hardest part of the install was getting the dishwasher removed. I had the best luck rolling the dishwasher on its side so I wasn’t lying on the ground. Part install took about 10 minutes once dishwasher was on its side. Couple good YouTube videos helped make it easy.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Worked great. It might be a touch louder than the old one, but it solved the problem, fixed my 7+ year old Bosch dishwasher. I expected the Bosch to last a bit longer, but we do have a big family and use the dishwasher a lot, plus hard water (not sure if that would affect the heater element - that's what went - Error code "E09"), but you have to replace the whole unit). Not bad to replace, but just a little awkward. Our model (shem63w55n) you go in from the side and it's near the bottom. Just move the power unit, disconnect three cables, remove the rubber hanger and twist it off. There are good youtube videos, just have to find the right one. Getting it back on and attaching the clamp is a little awkward but not too bad. I don't do that stuff too often and I think the whole process took me less than an hour.

Had an error code e09 on my Bosch dishwasher, looked it up and this heat pump was the problem. Watched a video on how to replace it, took about 15 minutes. Some reviews said the clamp was included but mine did not have it. Make sure you have a 1.5” hose clamp on hand. The only challenge was removing the clamp because it’s a permanent clamp ring not a hose clamp. I ended up twisting the pump and pulling down to release it. Not a big deal, make sure the water in the drain has been removed otherwise it’ll spill out when removing. Just make sure the unit is unplugged before making repairs. The dishwasher runs like new now!

Perfect replacement and relatively easy to replace. Continues to keep working.
