Wire connection
I purchased and installed two Solar Fans and they work great. Advantages: 1- Fan does not generate noise. You need to to the attic or climb the roof to find out if the fan is running or not. 2- Fan installation on the roof is easy, remove the existing turbine fan and the solar fan, fits the opening easily or with minimum adjustment. 3- instant Switching; from solar to electricity. 4- The design has tags, indicate, where and what to connect solar to the motor. Difficulties 1- The installer, took three trips for the installer to connect both the solar and electricity to the fan. The installer claimed the the solar connection has three prongs, green yellow, male connection and the third one. Plugging male to female connection in no problem but you you have to turn right and left to line until the cable to line the third connection. Otherwise you will hear tic tick. is replaced. This was a major nuisance. Fan effect The fan got installed in the month of July. The temperature in this month, ranges between 92 to 102 Fahrenheit, with heat index can reach up to 116 to 120 degrees. In the attic the temperature normally is 20 to 30 degrees higher than the outside temperature. The fan under extreme temperature conditions, has some effect; instead of facing heat from hot baking oven, it is decreased to do a quick job. The attic is tolerable around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Please read about attic insulation to get better understanding. When you have the The attic insulation, the temperature is five degrees plus the outside temperature. This means if the temperature outside is 90 degrees, the temperature inside the attic is 95 degrees not 120 degrees [around this number]. To get the best benefits of the attic fan, you need to have clear path air pathway from the soffit vents to the attic. [Soffit Vents used under the eave to provide ventilation to attic area preventing mold and heat buildup.] At the end you need to have reasonable expectations. The fan is an important factor among other ones, when considering reducing the attic temperature in summer.

Pricey, great features or lack of but durable and reliable.
I did a lot of research when replacing my roof to find an attic fan to help with the heat and moisture and kept coming back to Remington. Their fans are pricey but for this particular one I love the solar panel, and the optional powering cable to a regular house outlet & the smart humidistat. I opted for both and do not regret it. To save money I find that all the items were cheaper on Remington website compared to Amazon since they have special discount codes you can use. The only issue I have so far with smart feature is that the app doesn’t tell you if the fan is on/off. It only gives you the option to set the temp and and the humidity level. If you want to know if the fan is running, you’ll have to visually verify which is not often an option especially if this is installed in a crawl space. Besides that, the fan works well, it does help with dropping the temperature and humidity in the attic and I look forward more testing and will update my review as I see fit. Great product to have if you need to vent your crawl or attic space.

Quiet, but pricey. Manufacturer’s customer service could be better.
Quiet fan but definitely pricey. Manufacturer is hard to reach with Qs, though. Read all fine print in warranty if you ever have a claim.

So Very Quiet!
The fan arrived as expected and was very well packed. I unpackaged the fan and tested it in the front yard and the fan turned on immediately. The front side of the house is facing South so I get full power on a sunny day. (the fan speed will reduce as it receives less direct sunlight) I finally had a break in the heat to get up on the roof and install this fan. Instructions and videos are very helpful for a typical handyman. The tool list is very accurate. Installation took me about 45min without additional wiring to connect to a home circuit. (This model is a hybrid when it cannot draw power from the solar panel it will draw power from a home circuit when connected) I will post an update with pics when it heats back up in Cenn Penn. UPDATE: 1 week later and we've had warm (mid 80s), dry weather for the most part. The fan is working and the attic is venting and is approx 6-7deg cooler than without the fan. The house remains cooler in the AM and into the early afternoon. With the windows open, the house temp is very close to outside air temp. Typically 3pm and after the house is much warmer than outside air without the help from a/c. Does this fan draw cool air from the basement and through the house, well no. It is not a house fan. Does it vent and keep the air moving through the attic? Yes, yes it does.

Garbage. Don’t waste your money
I bought three of these when doing a new roof. They were installed. Now two out of the three are not working. Who is supposed to pay me for the roofers to install two replacements? I suppose warranty should cover it. But, even if they send me two new ones, will they pay me $500 each for removing the old ones and install a new ones? I don’t think Remington will. I can’t even reach them. DO NOT BUY this product. Today I called Remington Solar. They say warranty doesn’t cover the whole fan. Only a defective part. They want me to find out which part is defective on a fan which is installed 30 feet high on the roof 😡😡. This company is terrible and their product is absolutely horrible. I have lost a lot of money on this inferior and flimsy product and they are not compensating me for it. They would not even replace the fan. Just THE DEFFECTIVE PART which I am supposed to find out which part is defective, as if I am a technician to diagnose what is wrong. You must be kidding me. My advise is DO NOT BUY anything from this company. Amazon should remove them from their site too. Amazon is also partly to blame to sell these substandard and defective products. I will file a complaint with Amazon today.

Dependable Motor Worth Every Penny
The most important thing when choosing a true dependable and long lasting attic fan is the design of its motor. Brushless motor is the only choice because of its non-contact to any moving parts for its propulsion with only the shaft bearings to wear over many years of continue use. Brushes in convetional motors will inevetably wear out to seize its rotation. Although many are replaceable, but replacing them may lead to other problems with bearings and brush carriers, and not everyone is mechanically inclined to the process. Remington 40W Attic Fan is true brushless fan. The price maybe a bit higher than the other comparable brands, but its worth every penny of it. Install it and forget it. I have mines under the Hawaiian sun for a near three years now without any issue. Whenever i walked in the garage during the day, i hear its fan humming like music to my ears. On the otherhand, i bought 2 more attic fans attracted by their cheaper price and deceptive claim as brushless motors Less than 7 months ago (DC Homes attic fans brand ). One has stopped working recently because of worn brushes. Whats worse is that it'll cost me more money to have them removed from my roof top. I highly recommend Remington Attic Fans because of its proven dependable performance. I will replace the two failed mediocre fans with Remington Attic Solar Fans someday when i gather enough funding for them.

Questionable Customer Support Info
I was on the fence about buying Remington's 40 watt attic fan or going with a nearly identical one sold by Vevor that sells for approximately $200 less than Remington's. Ultimately, I bought Remington's attic fan largely because of the warranty and because of their "24/7" email support, as stated on their website and within the Installation Manual. In reality, 24/7 EMAIL SUPPORT IS ONLY DURING NORMAL WORKING HOURS (M-F). As such, your email to them won't be read until the next business day. By their logic, any company which has an email customers can use to contact support also has 24/7 support! This same erroneous/misleading information holds true if you call Remington Solar Support outside of normal working hours. Their voicemail states that, after leaving them a voicemail, they will transcribe your voicemail into text and send it IMMEDIATELY to one of their Support Techs who will respond ASAP. In reality, nothing will happen until the next business day (Remington's version of ASAP) . During normal business hours, their support was fine. They did respond to my emails and phone calls but only M-F during normal working hours. So far, the fan was fairly easy to install and works well. Along with the fan, my order contained a hybrid adapter. Paraphrasing what is stated on Remington's website and within their literature, the thing will provide power to the fan whenever adequate sunlight isn't available or the temperature in the attic gets over 80F (there are also a upper/lower humidity limits), whereupon the fan will start. Know however, that if you are using the hybrid adapter, the fan won't shut off until the temperature in the attic decreases to 65F, something that may never happen during the hot seasons when outside temps may not get below 65F. As such, some of the electricity you are saving by having a solar-powered solar fan is wasted by the fan being powered by the adapter needlessly until solar takes over, assuming temps in the attic go above 80F. It seems to me that, if 80F was a good start-up temp, why isn't it a good shut-off temp? Since these temps are programmed into the adapter, they are not changeable unless you also buy Remington Solar's wi-fi thermostat, which increases the overall cost of the fan and also adds to its complexity. The literature the fan comes with offers sparse technical info. For example, the adapter will not power the fan until the solar panel gets less than 7 volts of solar power (this commonly occurs during evenings or when clouds occlude the sun). If clouds are spotty, the solar panel might hover just above 7 volts; not enough to meaningfully power the fan but too much for the adapter to power the fan. This is something that would be good to know if you're wondering why the fan isn't running on hybrid adapter power even though the temperature in the attic is over 80F. My point about the 65F adapter shut-off temperature should definitely be in their literature, too. Lastly, in my experience the fan runs much faster when powered by the adapter than via solar, obviously moving far more attic air. Is it a good value for the money? Knowing what I know now, I would have taken another look at Vevor's attic fan. Hopefully, the fan will be working for years to come. If not, I'm hoping they will make good on their warranty. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed. Time will tell about the longevity of the fan and its warranty.

Only need basic skills to install, and made an immediate impact to house temperature
We bought this fan to try and lighten the load on our underpowered HVAC unit that has to deal with a HUGE attic that gets blasted by the sun all day long. It was making our upstairs hotter than we would like, despite the AC running at all times. We installed this solar fan, and it made an immediate impact to the house temperature and comfort level. We are in Tennessee, and have already had hot, humid 98 degrees in July, and our AC only struggled to one or two degrees above our desired temperature upstairs, instead of it previously struggling to even maintain 3 to 5 degrees above our desired temp. With some temperature probes, we were able to see that our attic takes longer to heat up during the day, cools down more quickly at dusk, and hits a peak temperature of roughly 5 degrees cooler than it did before this fan was installed. Install was relatively simple so long as you are skilled enough to climb on a roof safely, as well as remove and replace shingles properly without damage. My roof was steep enough that install was a two person job - even our tools would start sliding down the slope if not secured. But with a sawz-all, drill, prybar, and roofing caulk, we installed this fan no problem at all. I can't speak for money savings due to the solar power - I expect they aren't earth shattering compared to the cost of the fan, but we didn't buy it to save money on electricity. We bought it to help vent our attic and make our house more comfortable, and it has absolutely done exactly that. In a year or two I probably plan on mounting one more, since our attic is huge with a huge south facing roof area getting blasted by the Southern US sun, but I am fully satisfied with this purchase.
