Nice unit with Great Customer support
May 2020 - Have had the product for a few weeks now. Seems to work exactly as advertised. Obviously I have no way to measure if it’s actually doing what it’s supposed to do so we go on a leap of faith. It looks stylish and is not out of place on our bathroom vanity counter. Update March 2021 - Unit seems to do what it's supposed to do. After 10 months of use, the unit started to fail to operate. I reached out to the seller & was impressed with how quickly they responded & shipped out a replacement. Wow! great support! Upgraded 5 star.

TAO Clean Germ Shield UV Toothbrush Sanitizer
This is the second time I purchased this item. I first bought it for myself and trying to find something for you brother is tough. He doesn't need anything. However, everyone needs one of these. I like know my toothbrush is clean!!! TRY IT... YOU WILL LIKE IT!

Piece of junk. Bought two. Both died within a month.
This thing is a total piece of junk. I bought two of them one for myself and one for my fiance. Both of them chewed through batteries like nothing and within a month both of them died. Very awkward to use. They've been the hell out of your bristles. The bottom is open so any water leaks through to your countertop. As far as to whether the ultraviolet light actually sterilizes your toothbrush your guess is as good as mine. In any case these are poorly designed pieces of garbage and unfortunately I missed my opportunity to return them because I ordered them right before we moved and they sat unopened in the box for a few months before I actually had a chance to try them, so that's on me. But save yourself some money. Don't buy this.

Does the job
I really like the stationary toothbrush holder. The only reason I'm giving it 4/5 is because the toothbrush insert crushes the bristles on the brush if you leave it there. If they made improvements in the future models I'd give it a 5. I haven't had the batteries go as other reviews have noted but I'm the only person using this and it's been less than a month. Hoping for longevity on this product. After about a month of use, the batteries died on me. I also stopped leaving my brushes inside for more than a day so they can recover their shape. Still works great, no complaints

Best toothbrush I’ve ever used
I’ve had them all. This is the best. Love the sanitizer/holder combo. Great selecting of colors. Have given for gifts.

does not last
this is the second one of these that has quit working for me, the difference between the two is that #2 only lasted 6 months. Changing the batteries will make it work again for 1 day

Solution for crushed bristles
This UV toothbrush sanitizer is very good and just what I was looking for. However, the instructions are slightly unclear on how to insert the toothbrush. The top of the toothbrush (which becomes the "bottom" when inverted), must be almost to the very bottom of the sanitizer. If you look from underneath the device, there is an opening for the water to drip out. The top of the toothbrush should be 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the very bottom of the device, which would align with the counter or other surface below the device. Everything you see near the top opening of the device (the curved spring-loaded piece, the "cubish" stepped flexible clear plastic structures) are all for holding the handle of the toothbrush. These parts and structures are cleverly designed to hold a wide variety of toothbrush styles. If you don't insert the toothbrush deep enough, these parts will impinge on the bristles, and compress them. The UV LED is located at the inside front of the bottom of the device, so that's where the bristles need to be. There is also a blue LED that illuminates the top area and the clear flexible plastic parts - don't be misled to thinking this is where the UV emitter is located. It isn't - that blue light is just for show and illumination. Ensure that you place the top of the toothbrush (the head, the bristles) nearly to the bottom by just touching the surface (counter top) underneath and then backing it back up about a quarter inch to a half inch, then close the door. This will prevent compression of the bristles and align the head for a good sanitization. I've found that now that I understand what is needed, I can place the toothbrush with one hand, quickly, including snapping the door closed.
