Debug, Tweak and fine-tune your DIY electronics projects This hands-on guide shows, step by step, how to build, debug, and troubleshoot a wide range of analog electronic circuits. Written by electronics guru Ronald Quan, Troubleshooting Electronic Circuits: A Guide to Learning Analog Circuits clearly explains proper debugging techniques as well as testing and modifying methods. In multiple chapters, poorly-conceived circuits are analyzed and improved. Inside, you will discover how to design or re-design high-quality circuits that are repeatable and manufacturable. Coverage includes: โข An introduction to electronics troubleshooting โข Breadboards โข Power sources, batteries, battery holders, safety issues, and volt meters โข Basic electronic components โข Diodes, rectifiers, and Zener diodes โข Light emitting diodes (LEDs) โข Bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) โข Troubleshooting discrete circuits (simple transistor amplifiers) โข Analog integrated circuits, including amplifiers and voltage regulators โข Audio circuits โข Troubleshooting analog integrated circuits โข Ham radio circuits related to SDR โข Trimmer circuits, including the 555 chip and CMOS circuits Review: Good book for general component level diagnostics - If you are new to electronics and looking to diagnose and repair, this is one of the better books out there. Just keep in mind though, there isnโt heavy emphasis on diagnosis and repair on specific devices. Rather the book tends to be general at the electrical component level. Review: Good information for troubleshooting - There is a lot of great information on testing components and how they work with out the need to be an engineer to understand as is the case with other books. The demonstrations with inexpensive multi-meters shows testing method and what your results should be or close to it if you are on a budget and want to learn about electronics, testing and troubleshooting.

I'd buy it again.
Lots of really important information and formatted well. I only deducted one star due to my own very limited knowledge (basically idiot level) on trying to learn enough to repair vintage audio. I do know that I progress I will use this before getting into specific tasks. Decent size print for an old guy too.

Excellent resource for debugging analog circuits.
This book is an excellent practical resource for the hands-on DIY electronics hobbyist. Since there are plenty of textbooks that focus on theory, the author of this book instead dives into topics that matter to the DIYer -- practical troubleshooting and common-sense explanations of commonly encountered issues in analog circuits. The author clearly has a passion for circuit analysis and has done an excellent job of sharing his extensive knowledge with the rest of us.

Good book BUT !!
I like the material in the book but I couldn't recommend buying the book because all the pictures are in black and white which was a big let down after viewing the book on my kindle. When the text are referring to colors of things like resister bands you have no clue ? So I would recommend the kindle version instead.

Really focuses on discrete bipolar junction transistors, but enough more for good value.
If you like building and working on project electronics, this is a good book, one of the best digs into BJTs I have ever seen.
