This was a fun activity, with STEM qualities. It's engaging, interactive, and interesting. The kit was packaged well, and was well organized. I used all the tools included to extract the gemstones, which was a messy process so be sure to prepare your work space with newspaper or complete this activity outside. Wetting the clay definitely helped expedite the process. The kit includes an entire jewelry set making set complete with necklace, clip-on earrings, and an adjustable ring. A key chain making kit is also included. Suitable and appropriate for both boys and girls. This would make a great gift for any occasion.

This Gem dig kit was a really fun activity for my kids. They love collecting rocks so letting them dig for special stones was really exciting for them. The kit comes with everything you need to dig up your gems. What I found very creative is that they give you hardware to either make a necklace or earrings out of the stones you dig. I will say this is messy so doing it outdoors or covering your table would be wise. Getting dirty is all a part of the fun though! It makes you feel like you’re a real geologist, chiseling and hammering out the gems. I like that it wasn’t overly easy so it actually took the kids awhile to collect the gems. It kept them entertained for a couple of hours. Overall I’d say the kids had a great time with this kit!

I would give the gem kit 10 stars if it were an option! It was an absolute hit with my grandchildren! They loved digging for the gems and we're so excited each time they found one. My granddaughter loved the pretty golden bag to carry her treasures in and my grandson's thought wearing the safety glasses while digging was pretty cool. I will be buying this product again whenever I need a gift for child!

So I bought this for my 4 y/o daughter and she absolutely loved it! I would have given 5 stars but they advertised 13 gems and ours only had 9. BUT I reached out to smartstoy customer service and they were so quick to respond and they really wanted to help with the situation so they are sending me a replacement. I will buy from smartstoy again because they have very unique kids toys and crafts and great customer service.

Fabulous value for money with so many gemstones. This is for 8+ but I decided it might work for my almost 4 year olds to occupy them. I was right! It has some string tools included and the gemstones are packed in clay which is hard work to get out. We’re on day 2 of digging and they are a bit dirty but loving it! They’ve been playing the the gems they did already get out and loved looking at the pictures to choose which stones they wanted to have/find. Will buy again and will definitely gift. Seems like this has better stuff than its competitors too.

My grandson (12 yo) enjoyed this science based gift. And has plans to make some of them into gifts.

I purchased this as a gift for my sons 7th birthday. Although he loved breaking through the “dirt” it did take him quite a while to find all stones and when the stones were found- they were so little that it wasn’t worth using in any of the jewelry pieces that came with it. He had fun digging but stone size was pretty disappointing. P.S. make sure your kiddo wears those safety glasses! The dirt does/will fly up towards face and makes a nice powdery mess! Lol!

My 5 yr old great grandson loved this Christmas gift. He had fun doing the digging and cherishes the gems he has and carries them in the pouch that came with the kit. I looked at all the kits available on Amazon and this one looked like the most for the best price. It really was a great value.
