Honest review: If you’re on the fence on purchasing this, please read my review
Update: I found a coffee grain size that is actually too small. I brought some bags of coffee back from a hotel and used them, and before I added water they pushed through the filter. No biggie, just know there is a “too small” size. Also, I am mistaken, the filter is pretty sturdy but if you squeeze it (just a test I did), it does flex a lot and the bottom of it could pop out. Not a huge deal. Still feels like a material that would not rust overtime. Still very happy with the purchase!! Original Post: Out of the box, this product was very well packaged. The 1 gallon container is a thick glass that comes with an optional rubber pad that fits around the bottom of the cold brew maker. The stainless steel ground coffee filter feels like it is a great material that will not rust or bend and the filtration is fantastic. No matter how small the ground coffee was, no coffee bean fragments made it through the filter. Functionality is beyond easy. Simply grab your favorite ground coffee and toss in as much as you want (instructions do give you a recommended limit but I just go with what ever amount I like). Then, place the stainless steel filter into the jug and begin to pour luke warm water over the coffee grounds. Once full, throw in the fridge and wait 12-18 hours. You can immediately see the coffee brewing before the Zulay reaches the fridge which is interesting, but I enjoy watching it work. After at least 12 hours, pull the grounds out, wash the filter and put the lid back on (NOT TOO TIGHT, too tight and the jug can not vent and when the spout is opened, coffee will barely come out), and then you are ready to serve. I love cold coffee, as does my girlfriend. But the store bought coffee was terribly expensive. This paid for itself in a week, easily. The coffee tastes great. I have not done research but I’m sure you could put tea bags in the filter and make tea so it may be pretty versatile. The brewed coffee has a great color, exactly what you would want in your coffee. And the 1 gallon size easily lasts my girlfriend and I several days. If you are looking for a cold brew coffee maker, do not look any further. The price is cheap but not too cheap. For less than 50 dollars, you get a great GLASS (not plastic) cold brew kit with extra parts like gaskets for the spigot and a rubber mat. At first, I thought maybe I could find a cheaper one, but I’m very happy I went with Zulay. It paid for itself in less than a week, and is of a fantastic quality. I am very happy to have this cold brew coffee maker and if you need a review to tell you to get it, this is your review. Thanks for reading!

My new favorite kitchen gadget.
My new favorite kitchen gadget. Every Summer I make cold brewed coffee and up until this year I used the cheese cloth method which was way more effort than it was worth. It was messy and left a sludge at the bottom which clogged the spout. This baby is super easy to clean and the filter prevents the dreaded sludge. Also making sun tea is so much easier whether using loose tea or tea bags.

Durable, clean, delicious cold brew.
Perfect for cold brewing coffee. Thick glass container, metal lid the presses down onto the Stainless Steel Filter so grounds don't get into the batch. The spout itself is metal and has a filter inside of it to ensure no grounds in your cup. If you've never cold brewed, I highly recommend it and starting here.

Perfect for iced tea!
I bought this so that I could make iced tea at home. I usually add a little bit of cool water to the bottom of it and then boil my tea and an electric kettle. I then add the hot tea directly to the container. It works great and it will hold the tea for a couple weeks before it gets bad. It fits well in the refrigerator and doesn’t take up too much space. I don’t know that I would want much larger a size due to the weight on the glass shelves of the refrigerator. It does seem to be pretty durable and I usually hand wash it and it does fine. I just make sure that I run some water and soapy water through the spigot part. Definitely a good value for what you’re getting. I wanted to go with glass so that I didn’t have hot tea going into plastic and potentially releasing PFAS. Metal top lid can be a little tricky to get aligned, but there’s no need to necessarily over tighten it. I’ve actually come to really like the Zulay products because they are of a good quality.

Excellent cold-brew coffee... and great service after the sale
I am very pleased with this item, and with the service provided by the seller when I had a minor problem. It makes EXCELLENT cold-brew coffee, as confirmed by my coffee-snob neighbor. The stainless steel filter is big enough to pour in ground coffee without spilling any. 8 ounces of coffee makes a delicious batch of VERY strong cold brew after 24 hours in the refrigerator. I might prefer that the metal lid had a rubber gasket for a better seal: if you shake it, a little coffee leaks out the top. This is not enough of a problem to affect my 5-star rating... especially after the seller solved a minor problem quickly and effectively. When it arrived, the filter was slightly dented (pictured); leaving a small gap at the bottom that leaked more fine grounds into the first batch of coffee than I would prefer. I sent ONE Email to the seller with a description and pictures of the damage. The seller immediately shipped a replacement filter, with no further communication required on my part. Bottom line: both the seller, and this item, earned five stars!

Finally Got Rid of the Mr. Coffee Tea Maker!
Hi, my name is "Jon" and I'm a Teaholic. I drink iced tea almost exclusively and, for the past 30 years, or so, have been using a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker. Not the same one, of course, but have purchased multiple over the years. It worked fine for iced tea, but I've been on a mission to get rid of all plastics as far as heating and storing food. This 1 gallon tea/coffee maker is a perfect replacement. It makes and holds a full quart more than the 3 qt. iced tea makers, doesn't stain so it's easy to clean, and the spigot makes it ultra convenient to dispense without having to take it out of the fridge. I get very hot water right from the tap and have no problems adding that right to the glass pitcher BUT I'm very careful not to do this while the pitcher is cold to avoid cracking the glass. If the pitcher is still cold from the fridge, I simply fill it with some luke-warm water and swirl it around to help bring up the temperature of the glass before refilling with hot water. Next, the cap/top needs to be a little loose to allow airflow into the container or the coffee/tea will not flow correctly from the spigot. It's a little on the pricey side when you consider it's just a large mason jar with a filter and spigot, but it's ideal if you like cold brew and/or drink a lot of iced coffee or tea.

Great product for Cold Brew
Two factors sold me on this product - the 1 gallon size and the stainless steel filter. I have had this now for two months and it has been in constant use. Simple to use and it makes excellent cold brew. I recommend starting with a good coffee that you like hot. The standard drip grind works well for cold brew. I use 10g per 6oz cup of filtered water or 200g for a full gallon. Put the filter on a kitchen scale, zero the scale, pour in 200g (7 oz) of ground coffee, put the filter into the glass container, fill slowly with cold water, screw the lid on and you are good to go. I allow the coffee to brew for 48 hours, and then remove the filter/coffee grounds. (I place the filter in a bowl to drain and will recover up to 1/2 cup of coffee.) Wash the filter with soapy water to remove any coffee oils; then store it safely to avoid damage. One question I have seen is about the brewer is the lack of information on how tight to screw down the spigot to avoid leakage. Assemble the spigot with the silicone washers inside and outside and steel nut inside. Tighten the nut - slowly and carefully - until the raised edge on the silicone washer is flat. Fill half full of water and let it sit for 30 minutes to test for proper seal. One other comment has been about the lid. It is definitely not heavy duty but it is stainless steel. Be careful to not squeeze and deform the lid and if, when you put it on, you turn the lid backwards a half turn (counter clockwise), then turn it clockwise to put it on, the lid will align properly and close.

fantastic flavour and easy to use
I have used this with coffee from Aldi and some nut milk and after 24 hours brewing time the flavour was rich and mellow and the nicest cold coffee I have had in a very long time. The capacity was about 3.5L so that is a lot of coffee and after seeing all sorts of different recommendations for coffee to water ratio, I just added the whole 227gm bag of regular ground coffee. So I that makes a ratio of close enough to 15:1 by weight. It is well made and very easy to clean. Highly recommended
