I purchased this for my princess to help her with counting large numbers. However this abacus is very very small. It is nothing close to the size abacus I've seen in daycare centers or schools. This abacus is about 1/2 the size of a compensation notebook. When my child uses it she accidentality will slide two beads oppose to one because it is sooo small and the beads are sooo close together. However, this is not necessarily a "bad" thing. Because it helps my daughter concentrate and focus on using her hand eye coordination better. I know that is not actuarially the goal for this devise. But for my child it is an excellent goal especially while homeschooling/remote learning. I need to give her a quiet task especially during a break that requires her to be "centered" , "grounded", "focused" as she use her fingers to move one teeny tiny bead on the abacus from one side to the other as she calmly count to 100. Also it helps strengthen her fingers for gripping very small items that will make buttoning clothing, etc much easier. So I will use it because my child can benefit from it. I would probably have to purchase a larger abacus for actual counting math problems that are time sensitive lol. Although I think it is better as an "occupational therapy device" lol. It seems to works, and seem sturdy, strong and very small.

UPDATE: This is the single most-used item I got for my kid's COVID homeschool. I literally have enough 1st grade books, manipulatives, and games to fill a small closet. The compact size is perfect.It's durable, too. It's been repeatedly knocked on the floor, buried under piles of books, used as a hammer, stood on, and then there are the handful of times my boy shouted "yeet!!" and chucked it across the room.It's great for math, too.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I didn't read the product dimensions so it is smaller than I expected. It fits easily in my son's "covid homeschool" drawers, so that's an unexpected yay!He was struggling with using a number line to add and subtract. I hope the tactile input he gets from this will help.I love that each line of 10 beads is differentiated by color into sets of 5. A brilliant design.If I could design this exactly how I want, I'd have only two improvements.#1 square beads that slide on a flat track and don't spin.#2 a number on each bead (1,2,3...)

SImple and easy way to teach addition and subtraction to my 5 and 3 yr old.

I use this with my 1st grader. Great math visual, I love that they are separated by color and by fives. Makes it a little easier to count . It is pretty small but it does the job

my own fault for not checking the size and thinking this was like they used to be. This is very small and will prob only last the school year if that. Next time, would buy the larger obe that sits on desk. Needed it for kindergarten so dealt with it hoping son doesn't complain.

I bought these because each set of 10 beads is divided into 2 colors, which I thought might be helpful in developing number sense. My preschooler and Kindergartner each have one for math time. They are the perfect size for small hands and surprisingly sturdy. They arrived on time and as expected.

Very deceiving! I threw it away! I bought the Melissa and Doug Abacus! It was the right size and sturdiness for a 5 year old.
