Totally Worth it!
This system is amazing. Totally worth every penny we paid for it (about$300). We have a 16 ft best way steel pro max. We've had it just over 3 years, and every summer the same thing happened.... The kids would swim in it once, then it would start turning green so I would shock it and then it would turn bright orange/brown from the iron in our super hard water, the tiny pump and filter system that came with it just couldn't keep up. We were changing the paper filters every day and still couldn't get it to clear up. We would just end up draining it and starting over multiple times every summer. This Intex pump has larger hoses than our pool takes but we just used some reducer adapters we already had laying around. I put in the salt, and started it up. I shocked it once with non-chlorinated shock (because that's what the pool guy said to use with salt system), water turned a slight orangish-brownish-greenish but we ran the pump overnight and it was clear the next way. We've had it for a week now, the kids have swam in it every day, multiple times a day, we've done nothing other than running the pump & chlorinator and it still crystal clear. We are amazed! I am totally relieved that I don't have to waste any more money on paper filters and constantly adding chemicals. This system is super easy to use and requires very little maintenance. According to pool guy you do still need some ph/alkalinity decreaser, stabilizer, and non chlorine shock. But we're still going to save a ton of money because the whole system-- chlorinator & pump, salt, sand, and chemicals-- was less than $500. We were going through $200/mo in cheap paper filters alone with our previous system. Considering the salt system is $200 by itself, definitely splurge and get this salt/sand combo for only $100 more! Wish we bought this 3 years ago! Update: we've been using the pool daily for over a month now and it's still crystal clear! We've even had a few rainstorms, which in the past would have turned the pool green. I included a picture of the only chemicals Ive used (other than the pool salt added at opening)... A cap full of conditioner/stabilizer if cya is low, 2 capfulls of ironmyte when adding fresh water (because our water is very hard and iron heavy), a non chlorine shock every other week or if water is cloudy after heavy use, ph down if ph/alka test high. Other than that, I backwash the pump every other day whether it needs it or not. So easy! 🤯

Best thing I’ve ever bought for a pool
I was tired of spend $1000s on chemicals for our pool so I went to saltwater and I could not have been happier with this product. Maintenance had been cut to almost none besides hooking a pool vacuum up and skimming the top. Program it correctly and you’ll have a clear pool. It was used on a 20ft 48in deep pool. It out lasted the pool. Do yourself a favor and spend the money. It’s salt so it will corrode metal. Beware of that fact and rinse with fresh water to make it last or plan to replace metal parts after a few seasons.

Best pump, especially for price paid.
This is our third year (installed summer 2018) having an intex 15’x4’ above ground pool. We used chlorine and the pump that came with the pool the first year. Changing the filters and using chlorine was not blowing my skirt up. The filters had to be replaced every two weeks minimum, and the chemicals were somewhat challenging to keep balanced. We decided last year to upgrade to a salt water system. I didn’t look at a sand filter due to cost. We bought an upgrade summer 2019 salt water pump, which used the same disposable filters. The pump was adequate, but we still had to skim the water with a net to get out the layer of bugs and bio matter from the trees for about 10-15 minutes before swimming each and every day. To be fair, there are three trees that contribute to the mess. We got the pool ready this year (2020), but the pump would not operate. We knew we had to buy a new one. I do quite a bit of research on most products I purchase, especially a bigger purchase such as this pump. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of saltwater pumps on the market whether its Amazon, Academy, or our local pool suppliers (Nashville). I saw that this pump had adequate reviews but not stellar. I also know that items like this usually receive a few poor reviews because there are too many user variables for product performance consistency. I can say for us, this pump performance exceeds our expectations. My husband installed it April 27, 2020, and said it was somewhat difficult. I can attest to the amount of time it took-approx 1 1/2-2 hours. We had multiple sized connectors due to previously purchasing a second pump, so that was not an issue for us. The power of this pump is noticeably stronger than the previous two pumps we had. See photos. Kind of like a hot tub if you’re up close. This has not been an issue even for our 10m old in her float. The best aspects of this pump are that the water stays much cleaner, no need to skim before each and every swim, no disposable filters, backwashing the sand is a breeze. You can actually see the funk flush out of the sand! Stop backwash when water runs clear. Bam, you’re done. Always less than a minute. I attribute the improved performance because of the type and strength of filtration system. The water stays clear. We do have to shock and use clarifier, but the frequency is much less and will be necessary with any system. I never have to worry about cleaning the surface before putting my baby in the water. HUGE, time saver. That’s pretty impressive considering the trees around the pool. We do run the pump 12hrs/day most days, especially when we swim. I hope this helps anyone considering either switching to a saltwater system or upgrading to sand. This is the way to go. It’s more costly initially, and the sand is an additional cost, but we feel this will save us money in the long run. I believe the sand lasts 5-7 years.

Extremely poor service life and extremely bad customer service.
The system works great, while it works. We purchased the system 2 years ago knowing the titanium plates tend to fail after a short time, 2 or 3 years we hoped, they did not last even 1 year. In our case we were able to get the first titanium plates replaced under warranty because they did not make it one year, literally just 8 days before warranty expiration.. It has been less than one year and the replacement set has failed yet again. The cost for the plates is $165 plus shipping, extremely expensive and extremely short life, JUNK and the customer service is very slow and very poor, it literally takes over a month to get warranty from this company INTEX. Not if but, when this product fails again, I am throwing it away and replacing it with reputable equipment from a reputable company. I cannot recommend this company or product. If I could give a negative number, I would.

Great
Saltwater treatment with sand filter works great, I wish I had gotten it along time ago. Maintenance on the pool is sooo much easier.

Great pool filter
First this pump is incredibly user friendly. The set up is easy, you can follow along with the instructions but I was able to use mostly common sense to set it up. The pump is really strong and we haven't had any problems thus far. The chlorinator directions are a bit vague but it's easy once you use it and get used to it. The filter requires 120 lbs of sand so just under 3 bags. Do not add salt to your pool until your water is balanced ( PH, alkalinity etc.) It took me about 2 weeks to get my water balanced but I had mine delivered as I didn't want to pit the strain on my well. The test strips that came with the pool were not very accurate so id highly recommend just getting a sample and taking it to your local pool shop for a free water test. For a 10,500 gallon pool I needed 7 40lb bags and you can get them from menards, home depot wherever for cheap ( I paid 7.50 a bag at menards). My pool has been crystal clear since adding the salt. The timer on the pump/chlorinator could be better as it will only turn on at the same time every day but it's not too bad, just wish the programming could be a bit more advanced.

Good pump, easy to understand and install, low maintenance for pool, poor customer support
Upgraded to this pump for the 48" tall 15' diameter intex pool knowing the pump that comes with pool has poor performance. Chose the bigger of the two intex salt pumps simply because it was $50 difference and could be easier to resell in future years. Once I had the 1.25 - 1.5" adapter, connection and setup was easy. See rope supports the heavier hoses on intake and return. This is more a problem with the pool not having rigid side to support, but I think if they came off with a 90 instead of straight it would be smarter. I did not cut out the return to install the 1.5" that came with the pump but it hasn't seemed to cause any problem. You can set the timer for running hours, but it only times from the first time of day you start the pump. So you turn it on at noon, it will always start at noon. You can't set it to start at 1 for example. Easy to load sand, dissolve salt in pool. Got concentration correct first time! So they have a good dilution chart. Missed the page on cyanuric acid, so my chlorine wasn't staying. Couldn't get customer support help for weeks, but by then I found the page and solved the problem! Youtube is better than their instruction manual, but it helps for what it is worth. It is compatible with the Intex vacuum so I use that. The pump is way oversized for this pool so I run it about 3-5 hours which even that may be too much. BEST review is that pool maintenance is much reduced. I check with strips weekly and that is about it. Saltwater has been a good starting experience for a pool. I occasionally see some cloudy water, but I respond by running pump extra long and seems to take care of the problem

Highly recommend
First time owning a pool. We thought about it for years. A friend of mine who has had a pool for many years suggested the sand and salt water filter system, so I came on amazon and found this one. We are extremely happy with the filter system and the seller. The filter that came with the pool was a joke. It doesn't help that we live in the country and used well water that was high in iron. We are a week in and this filter is doing an amazing job. We noticed the filter wasn't as strong today (even than it was stronger than what came with the pool), so we used the backflow (just a turn of the dial) to clean it and watched the iron come out of the filter it was a deep orange and less than a minute later she was running clear again . After that the filtration was strong again.

Garbage
I Bought this pump 3 months ago to the day and it’s already broken and Amazon is doing nothing about it on an almost $600 pool pump system. And isn’t giving me store contact. Our summer is wrecked and my massive pool is turning green. NOT HAPPY. DO NOT BUY from this seller and DO NOT BUY these type of machines from Amazon. Bad service all around.
