IT WORKS!
I can not begin to describe how GREAT this water/rain dam works. We have an old driveway that tilts towards our garage. Rain water gets in with heavy rains. Not today. Kept all the water out. I’ve purchased another size which worked perfectly in our backyard.

Used for tropical storms and hurricanes (Central Florida)
Street floods and comes up the driveway. Two of these stacked on top of a plastic film has kept the garage totally dry. Now that I know (Company answered the question) they have a shelf life of 10 years or more, I am comfortable keeping several of different sizes in a tote for storm season to come around. Experimenting now for the first time on reuse -- 3 weeks and they are still drying out. Not optimistic but don't really care -- will happily trash them and use new ones next round as before if necessary. At my age I cannot handle sandbags and this product is fantastic. Even one layer of those across my 16' garage door would be impossible for me. Use: First use a few years ago I tried soaking them in bath tub for move to in-place. FAILURE on MY part. Horrible to move because of weight. I imagine like moving a 17' boa constrictor. Ever since I've always put in place, hosed down to partially expand (enough that wind wouldn't take away), and let the rising water expand them the rest of the way. Outstanding product. Cost is reasonable, storage for future emergency use takes little space and shelf life is long, lightweight for movement, easy to expand, and most importantly, they stop water intrusion.

An absolute must-have for anyone looking to protect their home from potential water damage
The Quick Dam QD617-5 Water Activated Flood Barrier is an absolute must-have for anyone looking to protect their home from potential water damage. I recently used these during a heavy rainstorm, and they worked like a charm! As soon as they came into contact with water, they activated quickly and expanded to form a solid barrier that effectively kept water out of my garage. The black color is discreet and doesn’t stand out, which I appreciate. Each barrier is lightweight and easy to position, making setup a breeze. I was impressed by how well they absorbed and blocked water, providing peace of mind during severe weather. The 5-pack offers great coverage, and the fact that they are reusable adds even more value. Highly recommend these flood barriers for anyone needing a reliable and efficient solution to prevent water intrusion!

Flood Dams that Work
3.5 inch barrier fully expanded holds the water back, and stacking 2 high does work well. Once the rain is over the barriers don’t deflate very quickly and over several weeks their shape becomes crinkled making further use less effective. Keeping them out of sunlight does help. As an emergency water diverter they are a good purchase. I’ve purchased them several times. Worth the price to keep the house from flooding.

Amazing! Hurricane Proof!
I bought this because we get rain sweeping under our glass sliding door when it rains. No more sand bags for us! These are amazing. Two weeks later hurricane Italian was on its way, so we bought another, and stacked them as shown in the photos and video. It hit us as a cat 3, and instead of collecting sand bags as we'd done in 30 previous years, we watched and waited, but not a drop made it into the house. Incredible! We bought the 17' ones and now own two, which we are very happy with. If you get flooding in your house, I'd strongly recommend purchasing these. My only complaint is that they take a long time to sink back to be rolled up again, (almost 2 weeks in the sun) very sturdy and we'll worth the money. UPDATE :JUNE 2024: we just ordered a lot of 5 more in expectation of this year's hurricane season. Our only complaint is that they take way too long to dry out. It would be great of you could put them in the dryer. So anyway,we bought 5 so that we could have enough to rotate if necessary.

Protects our garage interior from water intrusion
Our house was built on a lot with a gentle slope from the boundary at the roadside down toward the house. We have a long teardrop shaped, asphalt coated driveway that channels heavy rain right down the slope towards the house. In periods of very heavy rain the amount of rain that runs down the driveway can overwhelm the drainage ability in front of our garage so we've had times when lots of water has come in under the seal of the garage door and covered the garage floor. I keep one of these quick dam barriers on hand for those occasions when heavy rain is expected. The dams do an excellent job of keeping water away from the bottom of the garage door and since using them I've not had any water intrusion issues beneath the door. The barriers are reusable - although in cooler temperatures it takes quite a while for the absorbed water to dry out enough that the barrier can be folded and put away for future use. I've tried dragging the barriers away from the garage and placing them in the driveway in full sunlight to dry them - but found out that exposure to sunlight degrades the gel within the barrier so shortens their lifespan. The barrier is very easy to install - I just stretch it out along the base of the garage door. When the barrier is completely dry it is rather lightweight so if heavy winds are expected along with the rain showers I put weight on each end and the center to keep the barrier from getting blown away from the garage door before it has absorbed enough water to stay in place on its own.

Not as good as it used to be...but still cheap insurance
Let me start off by saying this is the third time I've purchased this particular brand of water dam, so I can't knock it too much...but its not what it used to be. Our first Quick dam (17') lasted almost 2-1/2 years, and in those years there was a lot of cycling from dry to wet and back again, combined with dragging it back and forth on an asphalt driveway (we use it to stop rainwater from entering through our two-car garage door) and despite the advertising saying you can drive over it, we decided NOT to take a chance. Anyway, it finally wore out and wouldn't expand anymore, so we purchased another (17') Quick Dam hoping for another good run time-wise. Unfortunately, we immediately noticed a difference. While the product worked extremely well initially, it started losing a bit of the (cellulose?) filler through the bottom stitching/seams which help create the "foot" of the dam. We attributed this loss to the newer style sewing/stitchwork when compared to the original. This slow loss went on for the duration of the Spring/Summer/Fall seasons which left us with a minimally usable product at the end of the year. We chalked it up to maybe getting a "bad one" off the production line, and purchased three more (including this one) because its a cheap investment in protection against water damage (for us). We bought 2 -10' Dams and this 17', because we wanted to try simply moving 1 10' section instead of our usually having to move/flip-back 1/2 of a 17' dam in front of the garage door. This 17' is still in its pack, unused, because we are using the 2 10' dams to provide a wider coverage area. Bottom line, aside from the difference in widths of the Quick Dams is that there is still an issue of the product losing its filler. I've attached a photo showing the loss of fill (white material in seam of dam) after the dam's first use. There is NOT a substantial amount of fill lost, and while some loss may be expected, after just a half dozen dry/wet/dry cycles its already not as "full" and doesn't block the water as well as when new. I can only attribute this to the product having less absorbent material inside after each use. The product does work, and works pretty well, I was just hoping for a longer product life span. For the money its a good product against preventing water damage, its just not as good as it used to be...

Very effective at stopping and redirecting high volumes of water
Bought these after a rian event flooded our garage. They sat unused in the garage for moths, to which I began to think they were a waste of money, That was until a series of major rain events occured. As it came clean the street and house gutters would be over whealmed, I set out these barriers to create a water barrier for the garage and to redirect excess water away from the house. They worked perfectly and we were able to ride out the bad weater comfortable that we were not going to be flooded out.
