A Clever Little Game That Keeps Kids Thinking and Grown-Ups Smiling
This compact board game punches well above its weight, both in terms of entertainment value and how surprisingly sturdy it is — most of the time. A favourite among families looking to keep children engaged without resorting to screen time, it offers a refreshing blend of tactical thinking, portability, and chaos-proof design… to a point. Let’s be clear: this isn’t just another plastic-fantastic toy designed to occupy children for ten minutes before being relegated to the bottom of a toy chest. It’s garnered praise from parents and grandparents alike, especially those on the lookout for something that encourages cognitive development while still being, crucially, fun. One reviewer noted their grandchild “couldn’t get enough of it,” which is either a testament to the game’s replayability or a subtle warning that you may never get the dining table back to yourself again. The build quality, while not quite indestructible, holds its own admirably under the enthusiastic assault of small hands. It's been described as “robust enough for kids,” which, coming from seasoned caretakers of miniature hurricanes, is high praise indeed. That said, there have been the occasional murmurings of missing counters — likely victims of either overzealous gameplay or the mysterious under-sofa dimension where all lost game pieces and TV remotes seem to gather. Where the design truly shines is in its portability. The game is small enough to be chucked into a backpack or glove compartment without requiring a team of pack mules, making it ideal for family holidays, visits to grandparents, or frankly any situation where the phrase “Are we nearly there yet?” becomes a threat to one’s sanity. However, the size is something of a divisive issue. While some celebrate its travel-friendly dimensions, others lament its rather diminutive scale — perhaps expecting something more boardroom than pocket-sized. One suspects those less impressed may have underestimated the concept of “portable.” The gameplay itself strikes a fine balance between simplicity and strategic depth. Young players can grasp the rules quickly, making it accessible to even the most attention-deficient of participants, but there's enough tactical nuance to keep older children (and quietly competitive adults) thoroughly engaged. One parent remarked that it encouraged their child to “think ahead,” a miraculous development many would argue is worth the purchase price alone. Speaking of cost, the general consensus is that it represents very good value for money. It doesn’t come with bells, whistles or unnecessary digital add-ons — just a solid, well-made game that does exactly what it sets out to do. In an age of overpriced gadgets and subscription-based distractions, there’s something oddly satisfying about a modestly priced toy that delivers actual fun without needing a firmware update. In short, this board game is a smart little number. It won’t change your life, but it might buy you half an hour of peace and spark a few smiles (and mild rivalries) along the way. Just keep an eye on those counters — they’re more elusive than you’d expect.

Popular toy
My 7 year old grandson soon got the hang of this and family enjoyed challenging each other. Not as large as original Connect 4 game but ok and portable!

Misleading information
This is very misleading information the picture and description says ‘ large’ which I would think people would think it’s bigger than the average size (it’s a average game £5 elsewhere) £11 and that’s with a discount

I purchased this for my4 year old grandson for Easter. We used to play it when his father was a boy. I like the small size as it easily fits into a handbag for travel. We used to play it at restaurants while waiting for a meal. Much better than phones. His mother had never played but now the three of them are all hooked! It is such a fun strategy game. They are contemplating buying a larger version for playing at home. I highly recommend this travel version of connect four.

The kids loved it!! They are still learning about the purpose of the game, but they are really excited about playing together and "matching" the coins in lines :))
