Stanwood Rain Chain Copper Gutter Adaptor for Rain Chain Installation

This works great for my application. I had trimmed the down spout and folded in the edges but the water wasn’t taking to it because the edges are not smooth like a funnel. This reall collects the water well. However I think it won’t handle a really heavy rainfall. I tested with a garden hose and it wasn’t keeping up super well without splashing all over. My only gripe and it’s not a bad mark on the project... but I bent the lower hook wire to hook on my chain and i can’t get it bent back. This is more my issue not having the tool I need to get in there to bend it. I’ll figure it out but for now things are fine. Only think I’m sad about is this is real copper (or so they say) and as it weathers my chain won’t because it’s painted rather than actual copper. 🤷🏼‍♂️

This funnel directs water from your gutter spout to a rainchain. I found this to be a necessary addition because water runs down the rim of my downspout and completely misses the rainchain bolted in the center. This funnel collects the water falling out of my downspout and redirects it to my "infinity" rainchain. Works perfectly. Its top diameter is significantly larger than my downspout and the neck is much smaller. Installation is easy since I simply threaded my chain through it. (The funnel hangs on my rainchain, not the spout). Now water actually runs down my chain in the ideal manner (rainchains are temperamental). It is well made and more than sturdy enough. I'm happy to have this as part of my rainchain.

The description says it fits downspouts of various sizes and is easy to install, which is true. However, it also says the "top and bottom links are attached". The gutter mount is not included. If you have a rain chain already, it is easy to attach this at the top to the chain's mount, or you can make a mount yourself. That being said, it is large enough to fit under almost any downspout to funnel water into the smaller links of the rain chain. It looks nice in place, and for the time being is very shiny. Additional note: I see the description has finally been changed to accurately relect what you get when you buy this item. I purchased it to use on a 10-foot high gutter, and rather than buy a copper chain for it, I bought a 20-foot lightweight stainless-steel "tie-out" chain from Wal-Mart for about $10. I twisted the chain to shorten it to 10 feet and attached it at the bottom so it wouldn't unwind. I made a gutter mount for the reducer out of a heavy metal coat hanger, attached the chain to the bottom link, and hung it up. It works quite well--the twisted chain has enough width and is a significant savings over the price of its' copper counterpart.

My first experience with rain chains. Water does not just come out of the connector in the gutter perfectly on to the chain without this. Otherwise it is splashing all over the place making a mess. Using this item to funnel the water onto the chain works perfectly.

Very happy with this adaptor for my new Rain Chain. We used the gutter mount that came with the rain chain, itself, to attach the adaptor to the outlet from the gutter, by straightening it out from the triangle shape it came in (the mount from the rain chain) and running it through the two screw holes left when we removed the existing downspout, through the upper link of the adaptor and then bent the ends of our mount wire to secure them in the opening from the gutter. It directs the water into the lotus cups of our rain chain very nicely. When there is a huge downpour, naturally some of the water gushes, but it certainly would be gushing if not for this adaptor. Recommended.

This heavy copper rain chain adapter made the rain chain installation so much faster and added to the looks as well as the length of the rain chain. If your budget allows, spend the few extra dollars to make your installation look professional as well as adding to the functionality. The wife and I used this quality copper gutter adapter to hook up the Monarch pure copper 'butterfly' rain chain.

Time will tell, seem to be good. Just what I wanted.
