Great solution for my 2012 F150 Super Crew Cab - but documentation could improve
11/3/2025 Updated to five stars! Since my past update, odd quirks kept occurring. Bella sent me a link to download a software update and place it on USB. I did so, ran the update successfully, and the problems of lag and calibration were still present. I sent additional videos, and she said the unit was clearly defective and if Amazon wouldn't replace it for free, she would. Worked with Amazon and I had a replacement in two days. So far, so good! What an amazing difference. Someday I just might open this other unit up and see if I can find anything obvious like cold solder joints or something. Can't stress enough how much it made my 2012 truck seem brand new. I also want to say, I found a perfect video that fully explains all the Android screens and menus - this was a godsend for me: (can't post the YouTube URL) Eonon VWX7 Install & Review | It really surprised us! --------------------------------------------------------- 10/25/2025 Update Worked with Bella at Eonon to address issues. The biggest problem seemed to stem from the screen needed re-calibrated. No documentation came with the unit on how to accomplish this, but here is the video she sent me: (Can't post the YouTube URL) Touch Calibration & Key Study Guide | Eonon A13/X6/X7 Series Car Stereo Once I had the screen working accurately, she helped me figure out the Celsius to Fahrenheit issue. I was changing the setting in the Android software, but I should have been changing it in the APP called, Car Info. I ordered some panel mount USB adapters for the three extra USB cables. Used a step drill successfully on the facia plate, and have everything securely mounted now. I had a couple times this week where CarPlay didn't automatically pop up, but I found if I tap the ZLinks App, it brings it up, and since I don't know what I am really doing in Android OS, if I leave my CarPlay screen to multitask, I can tap the ZLink App to bring the Car Play screen back on top. While I had the assembly completely out of the truck today for the USB port installs, I did revisit my temp controls and how they mounted. I loosened all four Torx screws, and yes, the facia plate is off 1-2mm. So, using my Dremil tool with a sanding drum, I carefully shaved a little off the facia edge where it was wanting to rub on my temp control knob and my heated seat buttons. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original review: Staring off with 2 stars - lets see if support can help me boost that to five. Bought this after watching several installation videos. The installer who did the best - his video is actually now part of their sales stuff. Installation would have been difficult without prior knowledge from YouTube videos. But, judging from those same YouTube videos, I had successes where others had issues - for example, the FDF1X7 automatically worked with my steering wheel volume buttons without me having to do anything in Settings. Another success - whereas some had to really pay attention to the wiring harness and make certain connections, my harness was (at least I suspect thus far) fully assembled. The facia plate has the same issue with the cigarette port, and yes, I used a Dremil tool with round sanding drum to modify the hole. On the backside of the facia plate, where the temp controls screw down - yeah, those four posts where the torx screws go into - they are either too small, or not threaded because it was a bear to screw into...very fearful about splitting the posts open as I forced the screws to thread in...and a day later, I found my seat heat control button doesn't have enough clearance to fully push in/out so I have to open the dash back up, disconnect everything and see if I can loosen the four screws a bit to free the button, and if not, I have to remove all four screws and use my Dremil tool to shave the facia plate to allow for more clearance. My iPhone connected on the first try, CarPlay works each time I get in and start the truck. But despite trying to change the Setting from Celsius to Fahrenheit, seeing the Setting change, restarting the truck, when I turn the temperature control knob to either cool or heat, the pop-up window on the screen still shows everything in Celsius format. So, in my opinion it's either a bug or a bad unit. I do remember seeing something in one of the fifty screens that my android is 14 and something like a build date of June 2025...so that is reasonably recent. I really would benefit from a detailed, picture driven manual. I'm sure this thing has a slew of features I would like, but have no clue what to poke - because if I go poke around too much, I have found this screen becomes unresponsive....again, not sure if I ticked it off as I am trying to learn it, or if I have a bad unit. I had this review at 3 stars, but dropped to 2 after I found out my email to support bounced! I used the link provided via Amazon, which took me to a website and it auto-scrolled to the bottom where the support info was. Well, I paid no attention to the website since Amazon sent me there - but it was a website solely for the COMGROW 3D PRINTER! I then Google search eonon customer support and found another email address. Hopefully that one works.

save your money not worth it
not worth it super slow with updates and apple and google maps were not accurate. also made my door speakers more quiet and only the left side of my door speakers worked with them but with factory radio they all worked, after i bought it used it for 2 weeks and ended up just put my factory radio back in.

Upgrade from Stock
Definitely an upgrade to the stock stereo. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to install it. Installation was easy with one exception. The 12-volt plug was a little tight in the pre-cut hole. Used a Dremel and widened the hole. No big deal. Did have some issues at first with Apple CarPlay, but it resolved itself. My only gripe is that there are not any instructions on the UI. Took me a couple of days to figure out that you had to use the Android OS to program the steering wheel buttons. (I was trying to use the device setup that has the car info in it.) It looks good, sounds good and, functions well in my 14-year-old truck.

Awesome upgrade for a 2009-2014 F-150
This Eonon stereo for the Ford F-150 is amazing. It is such an upgrade over the old clunky six CD changer in my 2012 F-150. It looks really nice and it functions really well. I'm very pleased with it

Flaky
I was not given this to demo or anything. I bought it myself. I put it into my 2012 F150 after the factory unit died. Heres the reality of it. First, the good stuff. It seems to be built fairly well. The bezel seems decent enough and fits perfectly in the console. Looks decent but not as nice as the factory textured one. The screen is nice and bright, the picture sharp. I am a tech person by trade so installation for me was less than 30 mins. The wiring harnesses and adapters all work perfectly. Setup is really easy. Steering wheel controls can be easily mapped to do what you want, just pick the function to learn and press the button. Its that simple. Sound quality is good BUT you have to fiddle with an EQ that has way way too many options. Now the not so good. This thing is flaky as heck. Rarely automatically connects to my hotspot. I use MP3s on a thumb drive and the player for this is simply awful. It doesn't list anything, tracks, artists, etc in alphabetical order. The selection for anything is on the far right of the screen causing you to have to learn over to dig through their ridiculous menus. The EQ doesn't always remember your saved profile. You set it not to lower the volume when going into reverse and it still zeros out the volume sometimes, randomly when shifting gears. To download any system updates its not all in the same spot, you have to dig through different menus to download different updates to the unit. The GPS doesn't center on your vehicle, its always to the far right of the screen. To install the bezel you have to remove the metal clips from the factory bezel. Its a challenge to do it without breaking the plastic tabs they are pressed onto. That was 10 of my 30 minute install right there. Now the worst part. The thing locks up constantly. The steering wheel controls still work fine but the touchscreen will become unresponsive. Sometimes it will let you drag a random icon around for some reason. Sometimes it will do nothing at all. Just yesterday it completely locked up for 18 minutes of my 30 minute drive home. Then it let me click for maybe a minute or two then locked up again. The music still plays and you can control it with the steering wheel controls but nothing else works. The interface as a whole just seems clunky, like you are using an Android phone from 10 years ago. Tap tap tap away and nothing happens. Keep paperclip handy because you will often have to reset it. Then wait 5 or 10 minutes for it to restart. I want to like this, it seems like a cool idea, the reality of ownership is not so great though.

Real review from someone that didn't get a freebie or copy and paste the promo material
2009-2014 easy drop in replacement. Dozens of YT vids on the install, mine took 35 minutes. Power adapter/Cig Lighter opening is too small diameter by about 2mm, you can scrape out the OD with a box knife or Dremel, or do what I did and replace it with a 3 way USB adapter. Boots in less than 10 seconds, screen is responsive, no lag when running multiple apps. Faster than the older FD1FX6 in my other truck. Hookup is very easy right out of the box. IF your rearview camera doesn't work, go to Setup and change the Video Type, password is 1234. Fit is nice and clean, looks factory. Audio quality is very good. Auto screen dimming when you turn on lights. Auto sound lowering when in reverse and the camera activates. Great buy and terrific upgrade for older Ford pickups. Bluetooth and Wifi work excellent. I bought a USB LTE dongle and the unit connected right up to the cellular network with no problems. Cons: Cig Lighter diameter, passwords aren't in the documentation, screen smudges easily, mounting clips must be removed from old head unit and reinstalled on the new one... and they bend out of shape so exercise some care.
